Well, I almost did it. I almost killed my printer this morning.
Just in case you’re curious, the cure for a printer on the verge of death is lots of patience and plenty of foul language.
And loading and unloading the ink cartridges a million times.
Unlike me, my printer is motivated by negative reinforcement and threats and eventually responded to my hateful words by printing out the important documentation (W9 forms so I can get paid for my freelance work!) that I sent to print about 5,000 times.
So now we’re friends again.
Technology can be quite frustrating, so after my episode with the printer, I decided to get up and about and load up the car with all of the Christmas gifts we’re bringing to my parents’ house.
In case you’re wondering, the big one is for my dad. Ryan wrapped it.
Lunch
Lunch was a no brainer.
Leftover Italian sausage on a whole wheat hot dog bun served with roasted Brussels sprouts.
Gotta love the ease of leftovers.
Only a few more hours of writing projects to tackle before it’s off to St. Pete! Oh and I still have to pack. Bleh…
Fiona @ Get Fit Fiona says
It’s amazing how frustrating technology can be. I’m glad you got it figured out!
HRCK the Herald says
Just hearing about others’ printer issues sends a shiver of dread down my spine. So, so frustrating!
Your trunk is like Santa’s sleigh 🙂
Annette @ EnjoyYourHealthyLife says
Yes, technology can be OH so annoying! But at least it finally printed–woot!
Love the wrapping job…..I might have to do the same. I get so sick of wrapping ’em all! hah.

Ugh, I hate printers! The main printer in my office always has some issue wrong with it. It’s frustrating.
I love all the Christmas presents! So many of them! 🙂 Lunch looks perfect to me! I could totally go for some roasted brussels sprouts.
Michelle @ Blogitness says
Wireless printers are wonderful and terrible all at the same time…yesterday I hated mine, today we are on good terms again!
I love the Vera Bradley…I have to stay clear of their website…I love writing on cute paper…it makes everything so much more fun!
Angela @ Eat Spin Run Repeat says
I hear ya on the printer issues – I’ve faced plenty myself, unfortunately in university when I needed to print an assignment right.this.second!
Brittany (A Healthy Slice of Life) says
All technology gives me headaches… at it usually doesn’t work right when you need it the most- argh! 🙂
Well done on the wrapping, Ryan!
Electra @ Vanilla Bean Lean says
Hahaha I love that you always leave packing till the last minute – I do the EXACT SAME THING! There’s just something about it. I suppose being pressed for time requires me to make decisions I’d otherwise sit on for hours (this shirt or that one … :-P).
LOVE the presents and brussel sprouts! I’m having brussel sprouts for lunch today too! Steamed though. Have you ever made brussel sprout chips? They’re like kale chips, so you cut off the end of the brussel sprouts and peel the layers off, throw them on a nonstick baking dish/pan, season, and either bake or broil until crispy. I’m putting up the recipe in a day or two and I’ll link it for you. If you like brussel sprouts, they’ll seriously be one of your favorites. They’re delish 🙂
Sabrina says
I hate packing! Good luck!

Haha, your Ryan’s wrapping job looks like something my Ryan would do 😛 He has been known to use newspaper to wrap gifts in the past!
Lena @ Fit on the Rocks says
My printer responds well to death threats, too 😉 Have a safe drive out to your parents’ house!
Lindsey says
I LOVE Ryan’s wrapping job. I still have to do all of my wrapping and it’s not going to be enjoyable. Have fun in St. Pete!!!
Renee C. says
Julie- random question for you! What kind of bagels do you eat? (brand)? I saw before you ate the sandwich thin bagels…is that still what you have in the morning or a regular bagel? I loooove bagels but always feel bad eating them and they don’t seem to fill me up! However, your whole wheat bagels look hearty and healthy so wondering what kind they are – thanks!
Heather H. @ Run Eat Play says
I hate printers – I just use my brothers because his is awesome!
I love Ryans wrapping – that’s how I wish I could wrap all my presents. Nice and easy!

I have stopped dealing with printers, as I simply kill them all the time. I have bad printer karma, or something. So, I usually just ask my mom to do it. Then I make her coffee, as she kills coffee pots. It’s a good deal.
Bess @ Bess Be Fit says
hahahahaha I love Ryan’s wrapping job! So funny

I had printer troubles last night which resulted in me cursing up a storm at it as well. Funny, it randomly started working about 25 minutes after I had hit print 4,000 times!
Katie @ Peace Love & Oats says
Hahahaha I love Ryan’s wrapping job. It gets the point across.
Alaina says
I totally had that same printer in college! And yes, banging on it and swearing at it definitely made it work. 😛

I hate hate hate printers. I have found the best way to fix them is to beat them. seriously. sometimes kicking works too.

Oh man, technology is such a blessing, but such a curse sometimes! lol, for reals. And I’m so curious to know what your dad’s ginormous gift is! 😛

I think you would like these books:
– Fly Away Home (Jennifer Weiner)
– The Lost Girls (written by 3 freelancers/journalists in novel form…their journey and adventures abroad, etc). Also, any tips for 2000-2200 calorie meal plans or where to find ? (on a 30-40-30 ratio???). I keep binging on stuff at night (I eat quite a large snack at bedtime and this includes milk chocolate treats…I’m essentially quite inactive, so…).
colleenzo says
Ha, my husband wraps presents the same way! I thought he was the only one!
Maria@La_Piattini says
That wrapping job is absolutely hilarious!
