My work day kicked off at 9 a.m. when I taught a sweaty indoor cycling class. We had a great group today and the class flew by which is always a good sign! I also took some time to create a new workout playlist for today’s class and wanted to share it with those of you who may be on the lookout for new workout music like I always am!
Links to all of the songs:
- Melanie Amaro – Don’t Fail Me Now
- Mark Ronson (feat. Bruno Mars) – Uptown Funk
- Destiny’s Child – No, No, No <— Still just as in love with this song as I was back in the ‘90s
- Steve Aoki (feat. Kid Ink) – Delirious (Boneless)
- Power Music Workout – Everytime We Touch (Tabata 1)
- Ella Henderson – Ghost
- The Spencer Davis Group – Gimme Some Lovin’ <— Awesome throwback!
- Sheppard – Geronimo
- Kiesza – Hideaway
- Manian – Ravers In The UK
- Andy Grammer – Honey I’m Good
- Evanescence – Bring Me To Life
- B.o.B (feat. Rivers Cuomo) – Magic <—I really wanted to include the finale version from Pitch Perfect, but decided against it… Boo.
- Pitbull (feat. Ke$ha) – Timber
- Matisyahu – One Day <— Such a great recovery ride song!
- Glee Cast – Shake It Out
This playlist has lot of energetic music thrown in, as well as some lovely cool-down tunes and even a tabata workout song that was a big-time hit with my class. They are now requesting tabata music in nearly every class!
Lunch
After cycling, I worked for a little while up until a coworker invited me along on a lunchtime bagel run. A freshly baked bagel with cream cheese sounded much more appealing than the lunch I packed, so I was all in.
I ordered a toasted Asiago bagel with veggie cream cheese. It sat rather heavy in my stomach at first but then I found myself feeling pretty hungry less than two hours later. Bagels are so delicious but not the most satisfying!
Luckily, after a few more hours of work, I had a chance to run home to let Sadie out later this afternoon and heated up a bowl of leftover chili (topped with a sprinkle of mozzarella) for a second mini lunch.
Much better!
Now I am heading back into the gym for another couple hours of work (lots of back and forth today, huh?)… And you better believe I’m already day dreaming about dinner (and hopefully a mini Homeland marathon) later tonight.
Tomorrow is FRIDAY!!
I have not had a bagel and cream cheese in I don’t know how long. Quite possibly since this time last year. It used to be my go to breakfast but they always left me feeling sluggish. But nothing beats a fresh bagel and now I am sort of craving one!
i think i ate a bagel with strawberry cream cheese almost every day for lunch in high school! ha!
I’ve never heard of veggie cream cheese before but it sounds good!
I remember all my friends loving Destiny’s Child in high school. I was more into alternative, so it wasn’t really my thing, though I appreciate them a lot more now.
Oh that’s a GREAT playlist! I just stole a couple and added it to my workout mix on Spotify. I just wasn’t feeling it at the gym last night because my music was getting a little stale so hopefully this will give me a boost!
Some of my favorite workout songs recently:
#Selfie- The Chainsmokers
Falling- Haim
Fireball- Pitbull
Bulletproof (by La Roux) vs. Release Me (by Agnes)- More from Pitch Perfect album
I already had Geronimo! I don’t know why, but it totally pumps me up. Such a great song! 🙂
bulletproof is one of my ALL TIME favorite workout songs. love it so much!
You seem like such an awesome spin instructor, Julie! Love the playlist and your upbeat attitude. 🙂
thank you!! <3 <3
I’m with you on the bagels — not super energizing but just so delicious. Sometimes we run and get a few on Sunday morning, which is a nice tradition. 🙂
Always, Anita
Isn’t “Uptown Funk” the best? I find that my mood naturally improves when I hear that song!
YES. Love it!!
Homeland is just too good. Crazy Carrie, just can’t get enough!
i’m addicted!
Honey I’m Good is my FAVORITE song to cycle too. Excellent choices all around!
Oh that bagel looks glorious! So delicious!
Thanks for the playlist! I am paying more attention to these posts now that I am in the processing of shadowing to be a coach. One thing Ive noticed about our gym is that it’s always a little random on the music, so when I get my own classes I can’t wait to throw together some awesome playlists!
awesome! hope you love teaching!
Fun playlist! My ipod is overdue for an update so thanks for the suggestions. 🙂
Honey I’m Good is the best song ever! Put it on my half marathon playlist for this weekend 🙂 Sounds like it was an awesome spin class!!
i am IN LOVE with that song right now! so fun! and good luck at your half this wknd!
This is a photo of your husband, right? It went viral on the front page of Imgur , a popular image sharing website, today. No clue how it got there. http://imgur.com/gallery/wld8ZvT
yes! so, so random!
Great playlist! I use many of these songs in my classes as well! I just added “Shut up and Dance” by Walk the Moon, have you heard it? It’s super upbeat an fun to workout to!
P.S. that bagel looks AMAZING.
Uptown funk is the BEST spin class song 😀
i LOVE it!!! it was a big hit with the class, too! it’s such a happy song. 🙂
ooooh I love veggie cream cheese but I haven’t had it in foreverrrr! You’re right though, bagels really don’t fill me up at all and it’s so depressing to be hungry so quickly after eating one! ha!
Great playlist! Totally added some songs to my cardio list xo C
I LOVE bagels! I make my own because they are very hard to find in Switzerland where I live. Nice playlist, it’s varied and motivating!
bagel egg & cheese sandwiches are da BOMB.
also, i like your definition of “sprinkle” 😉
Obsessed with Uptown Funk!!! Everytime it turns on I can’t myself from singing!! And yum!! Love bagels and cream cheese!
I love Don’t Fail Me Now!! I think you recommended it right after it came out and I have been using it as one of my favorite running songs ever since.
