Hello friends! How is your Monday trucking along? All is well over here!
After Melissa and Jarian’s couples baby shower on Saturday, the rest of our weekend was spent with friends! A group of six of us headed out on the lake on Sunday but had to come in a bit early thanks to thunderstorms. Luckily we had Taboo back at the house and spent the rest of the dreary afternoon playing games inside and snacking on freezer pops.
Do you guys remember these things? Why have they been out of my life for so long?
Ryan picked up a box of about 100 freezer pops (I’m pretty sure they’re only sold by the hundred, right!?) and we all enjoyed the throwback treat. Freezer pops take me back to hot days at summer camp as a kid.
Of course I doubled down on the reds and pinks because they’re always the best and we had a million of them, so no one had to take the dumpy green ones…
Once everyone left, Ryan and I had frozen pizza for dinner because the pickings were slim in our fridge and pantry and headed to bed early with our respective books. It felt good to hop in bed at a reasonable time, even though I am still waking up at least four times a night these days thanks to pregnancy-related potty breaks.
Today
This morning, I woke up at 6 a.m., ate an egg sandwich and yogurt for breakfast, typed up my morning blog post and headed off to the gym to work through the morning before I had the opportunity to squeeze in my own workout around 11 a.m.
My sacroiliac pain is continuing to improve (HOORAY!) and I was able to take my cardio from the bike to the elliptical today. It was a lovely change of pace after a few weeks of biking-only workouts and I did about 20 minutes on the elliptical and 10 minutes of biking before completing some lower body strength exercises and calling it a day.
After my workout, I needed a shower and food, so I headed home to let Sadie out and make a quick lunch.
I had a Publix hot Cuban sandwich (thanks to leftover food we packed for the boat yesterday) and ate it along with a sliced apple and a sliced peach because I cannot get enough fruit these days.
Once I was done with lunch, I packaged up some of the clothes I pulled out of my closet and dresser over the weekend to send to ThredUp (<—highly recommended if you’re looking for an easy way to make some money off used clothing/accessories) and will be dropping them off at the post office on my way back to the gym.
Gotta run!

Freezer pops…what a blast from the past! They remind me of summer barbecues with all of our neighbors growing up. Sometimes a hot day just calls for a good old freezer pop!
I have a ton of clothes that Plato’s closet didn’t take..so maybe I’ll try ThredUp?!

I just had to leave a comment when I saw you had pictures of freezer pops. Okay, we never buy those, but my mother-in-law loads up on them. So embarrassed that I head to her cottage on Lake Ontario just to eat all her freezer pops and blame it on the kids!
Laurel @ blondeandabrit says
1. Those are the only popsicles I will eat…and the greens are so gross….even more gross than the banana ones that come in the tropical pack.
2. John and I discovered Publix Cuban sandwiches a few months ago…erm….they are the best thing going at the deli.
3. I miss you! xox

YES. Freezer pops!! I remember I used to eat so many that they would make little cuts on my mouth from the sharp plastic wrapper edges!! Hahaha! I may have to pick some of those freezer pops up!

It’s happened before that we thought about the exact same thing and it happened again. I had freezer pops on my mind randomly last night while thinking about the next family reunion and the ones we used to have by the lake. 😀

Hi Julie,
I read your blog every day and love it! I rarely ever comment but I was scrolling through my facebook feed and saw this. Someone made a meme of you in the photo where you are holding hands with Ryan and finishing the race and a random girl I know posted it. I couldn’t copy the picture here but here is the link. Thought you would find that funny! You’re famous! Haha!

ok, I am not the norm, I HATE those freezer pops and always have. To me, they have such a gross plastic taste to them. They do bring back memories tho, just not the same as every one elses! LOL
Erin@BeetsPerMinute says
Those freezer pops ARE a culiary represntation of my cryogenic childhood lol
Stacey says
I love freeze pops, but they always make me cough really bad. It’s the weirdest thing. I don’t get it with popsicles… or any other food product, for that matter.
I wonder if anyone else has this issue or if I’m just an oddball.
Julie @ Running in a Skirt says
I’m feeling the urge to buy freezer pops now! Haven’t had them in forever!
