Hello! How are you doing today? Things are going well over here! I just finished a quick and sweaty at home workout and figured it was worth sharing with you guys since I know a bunch of you out there are always on the lookout for fast-paced workouts you can do in your living room. (Especially if you’re currently snowed in… I hope you are all staying safe and warm!)
Here is a quick peek at today’s workout:
All you need is a set of dumbbells and a stopwatch or timer of some sort. (You could also omit the bicep curls and side shoulder raises and do everything without dumbbells if you wish. Or substitute push ups and arm circles!) Not too shabby, right!?
I paired strength exercises with bursts of cardio for a total-body workout that got my heart rate up and made me sweat. Breakfast was a welcomed treat when I was done!
On the menu for today? An egg, cheese, tomato and bacon breakfast sandwich served with a cup of Greek yogurt and sliced almonds.
I dug into my breakfast as I looked for flights to Chicago for an upcoming girls’ weekend with some of my best friends from high school. I am finally going to see my friend Leah’s baby boy at the end of February and I cannot wait!!
Now it’s off to work! Have a lovely Wednesday!
Lauren @ The Bikini Experiment says
A lot of good exercises in there! It’s always good to have a few go to workouts for days when you need the living room in a pinch. Good luck finding a flight!

This is perfect! Thank you for posting! I’ve been having a hard time getting out of bed for my usual 5:30 am workouts at the gym. It’s so cold and dark. The bed is much better. LOL I did one of your arm workouts this morning and was thinking I should do one of your total body workouts soon. And here is your post! LOL I swear sometimes you read my mind. Enjoy your day!
Christine says
Great workout! Perfect for when you’re stuck inside or don’t feel like getting yourself all the way to the gym. And that breakfast sandwich looks amazing! I remember the days when you used to have a sweet jelly breakfast sandwich just about every day! Time flies!
Tamara @ A Side Of Dessert says
That breakfast sandwich looks heavenly!!

Thanks for posting this right in time! I was debating going for a run this evening, but my legs still aren’t 100% after the half marathon I did on Sunday. So I’ll do this workout tonight instead to rest up those legs/knees a little more.
Ashley @ Saving Money in your Twenties says
ahhhhh that breakfast sandwich!!! makes my bowl of cereal for breakfast wayyyy less impressive… haha!

Awesome workout suggestion! I am going to print this one and take it with me for work travel next week too. I should also really do it right now, since I spent the morning catching up on my favorite blogs instead of working out! Whoops =P

Yum bfast looks good! Does Sadie get in your face when you’re working out? I’ve been trying to get some extra push ups and core work in at home, but any time I’m on the floor, I end up with two pups in my face giving me kisses!

That looks like a great workout! I should have done that this morning. But… super excited you are coming to Chicago! Small world… both from Chicago then went to UCF. I am back here in the cold though, not sure why! 🙂
Julie says
woohooooo UCF!!! goooo knights!
Emma @ Life's A Runner says
I adore bodyweight that look like they actually get the job done, instead of just moving around a little with zero sweat. Thanks so much!
Molly D. says
Hi, Julie! Sorry if you already answered this in another comment, but what dumbbell weight do you usually use? Any recommendations for a petite beginner? I’m trying to get my arms into shape before my wedding in June and have been told that dumbbell exericses are the ticket! I do kettlbell exerices everyday and the one I use is 10 lbs. Your advice would be so appreciated!! 🙂
And that sandwich lookes amaaaaazing!
Julie says
Hi Molly! It depends on the exercise! I would just select a weight that challenges YOU! If you’re very new to strength training, start with 5 – 8 lbs. for bicep curls and work your way up from there… you’ll be surprised how quickly you gain strength!
Molly D. says
Thanks, Julie! I will start with 5 lbs. 🙂

At home workouts are great when I either don’t have a lot of time. I’ll be trying this one at some point this week.

I’m a huge fan of the egg sammie for breakfast, and while I just do plain old egg (sunnyside up) on bread, I have hear the buzz is to add a little mayo….hmmmm…… nom nom nom!

Great workout! I really like that it is just over 30 minutes. Just enough time to get sweaty and fit, but short enough to fit in when you don’t have any time.
