Yesterday, as I looked through my calendar on my phone to plan a conference call later this week, I realized my April is quite full! Every weekend there’s something fun on the agenda. I have a feeling it’s going to be a good month!
Weekend plans in April (in chronological order):
- Taste of Ocala
- “Spring Break” Weekend with my girlfriends (We haven’t seen each other since Michaela and Kyle’s wedding!)
- Jersey Boys in Orlando with my mom and sister
- Easter
- My birthday
Yes, it’s also my birthday month (I turn 29 on the 27th) and as Ryan and I crawled into bed last night, he asked me if I had anything special on my birthday wish list. It was then and there that I came up with one heck of an awesome birthday gift idea.
A 10-minute massage every day for the whole year.
Wouldn’t that be amazing!?
I thought Ryan would immediately shut down my idea, but he didn’t! (He did laugh though… I wonder if that’s a bad sign?) I managed to talk him into a 10 minute massage last night, so we’ll start there. Oh glorious massages!
Breakfast
I slept really well last night but awoke this morning with a pounding headache. I don’t usually get serious headaches, so I’m hoping it goes away really soon.
Breakfast this morning began with coffee!
Lots of foam and cinnamon, please!
It also included a freaky deaky green protein pancake.
Time to change and drive to work. Hoping to take my favorite boot camp class today, too!
Question of the Morning
- If you could convince someone to agree to do something simple for you at home every day for an entire year, what would you want them to do?
I think a 10-minute massage before bed every night for a year would be amazing, but I could also totally get behind someone doing the dishes for me every day for a year. Our dishwasher broke more than a year ago, so that would be one heck of a fabulous treat.
Emily B says
I would love if somebody did my laundry for a year… With my active husband and I plus the toddler, there is ALWAYS something needing to be washed.
Kelly @ Kelly Runs For Food says
A 10 minute massage every day sounds amazing! I would ask for that or for someone to vacuum every other day for a year.
Victoria says
My boyfriend massages my head and neck for at least 10 minutes every day that I see him. I intend to ensure that this trend continues forever :P.
Julie says
Yes, NEVER stop that one. Sounds amazing!
Erin @ Girl Gone Veggie says
10 minute massages every day for a year sounds like heaven! I would definitely ask for that.
Oh no, I hope your head feels better! Headaches are no fun. 🙁
Heather @fitncookies says
Dust and vacuum my house, I think, ha. Laundry is up there, and a massage, but I really just hate dusting and vacuuming. my parent’s house was all carpeted so vacuuming once a week was fine. My whole house is hard wood floors so the slightest dirt you can see all over. I hate it!
Linz @ Itz Linz says
massage everyday would be AMAAAAZING! however having a live-in maid would probably trump that in my book…
Sarah Whitney says
Jersey Boys is so fantastic! I saw it last year and loved it! I hope you love it, too 🙂
I think a massage a day would be glorious!!! I’m going with that!
Julie says
Yay! I can’t wait!
Paola A says
I think I would go even simpler than that: just put dishes away every day. I’m pretty sure I had one of those wake-up-mad-at-husband dreams about this last night… ha
kaitlin @4loveofcarrots says
I could totally go for a massage everyday for a year! But I think I would ask for someone to do the household chores for a year!
Brynn says
I am a lucky girl because my husband does my least favorite chore, vacuuming. I don’t really dislike it except for in our new house with all of the stairs. So ever week he does the vacuuming. Maybe I should start thinking about that massage though…..!!!
Jenn G. says
My dream would be if everyday, someone handed me (on the way out the door in the morning) a healthy, tasty lunch – packed up and ready to-go. No shopping or planning out weeks of lunches . . . that would be the life!
Julie says
Oooh that’s a GREAT one!
Holly @ EatGreatBEGreat says
A 10 minutes massage everyday for a whole year sounds like the perfect gift ever! I would totally love that!
Jen @ Pretty Little Grub says
The massage idea is so tempting but I think I would pick someone doing a quick tidy every day. I am the worst person for leaving stuff lying around the house, so there is always clutter. I need someone to follow me around and put things away behind me. (or I could learn to put things away).
Paige @ Your Trainer Paige says
Whole Foods totally has a massage therapist on hand all of the time, who gives massages for a dollar a minute. A 10 min. massage for 10 bucks is a steal!
Marina @ Lazy for Diet says
Oh, girl! My small frozen yogurt and pizza can’t compete with your food porno 😉 And I completely share your new passion to paste… Because Oh My God it is fucking good!
Marina @ Lazy for Diet says
To wash the dishes – excellent idea! Though I live alone, I for some reason soil a lot of ware… It everything food shootings 😀 So I would be glad if someone washed the dishes for me!
Katie @ Peace Love and Oats says
Definitely cleaning! It is not my forte
Chrissy @pinkpolishandrunningshoes says
I like you’re idea, but if I could get someone to put the dishes away for me that would be great too! I don’t mind loading them into the dishwasher, but for some reason, I hate putting them away after.
Linda @ running4two says
This sounds amazing! There is not much better than a good back rub! I’m not sure I could convince my husband to give one every day though!
Ashley@ashleyunfiltered says
My head scratched or hair played with, I absolutely love that. Or to be treated like I treat my pets (tons of play time and love, scratching and petting when they want, all my meals made for me, and I don’t have to clean a darn thing)
Jackie says
The massage sounds delightful! It would be awesome to get one every day!
Katie @ Talk Less, Say More says
Happy Birthday month to us! 😉 I turn 27 on the 10th! yay!
And seriously, a 10 minute massage everyday? SIGN.ME.UP!
Julie says
Happy almost birthday!!
Jamie @ Sometimes Healthy Living Blog says
Aww, that’s so cute! Brownie points for Ryan that he seemed to be considering the idea 🙂
If I could have anything done for me every day it would definitely be having someone clean up after I cook. I love to cook and would do it every night if I wasn’t such a mess in the kitchen. It usually looks like a hurricane came through every time, which takes away from me being able to enjoy that delicious food!
Sky @ The Blonde In Black says
Ahhh massages are the best!! Even if he just gives me a head/hair massage I’m happy! I would probably go for someone doing the dishes and/or putting them away for me! That’s my least favorite chore to do.
Summer says
If I could have one thing every day for a year, it would be that my husband would FOLD the laundry out of the dryer and not put it in a basket and continue to do more laundry doing the same thing until we have an unmangeable pile of laundry he won’t help me fold OR actually clean the kitchen when he cooks so I don’t have to do it after a very long day of work and school. That’s not too much to ask, right? 😉
Lauren S says
I feel your pain on the dishwasher we bought our house 6 years ago and still don’t have one (putting one in involves moving doors, ugh). How do you “make” the foam for your coffee?
Abby says
For me, I don’t so much mind the cleaning, laundry, etc. but I would absolutely love it if somebody would dry and style my hair for me everyday. 🙂
Julie says
A personal makeup artist and hairstylist would be amazing!
Haley @Cupcakes and Sunshine says
OH WOW that sounds SO fantastic. I would love for someone to do dishes everyday. But I am SO down for a ten-minute massage!
Ali says
That does sound wonderful! My hamstrings are screaming right now they are so tight.
mia @ makemeupmia says
Back tickles for me! My hubby doesn’t enjoy it much, but I love when he tickles my back, it puts me to sleep 🙂 A back tickle every night for a year would be heaven.
cait @apieceofcait says
your coffee always looks amazing! 10 min massage, sign me up!!
Molly Rose says
YES to massages! My husband voluntarily rubs my feet a few nights a week (I know I need not complain…) but when it comes to my back and shoulders he wants out! Someone to fold the laundry wouldn’t be so bad either 🙂
Happy birthday month!
Leah @ goodnightcheese says
I would love someone to do our dishes, no question.
Ashley @ My Food N Fitness Diaries says
Heck yes to that daily massage! I’d also love a daily head rub. 🙂
Megan @ The Skinny-Life says
Laundry and cleaning would be my picks! Sometimes the simple things make such a difference in helping make our lives feel easier. How do you get that so green? It is so so green it sort of freaks me out!
Julie says
Spinach!
Elizabeth {Positively Healthy} says
I have to say if someone would do my laundry and dishes for a year that would be amazing! 🙂
Marissa @ Barefoot Colorado says
I LOVE massages! That’s the number one thing on my birthday list this year — a nice, deep tissue massage!
Ashlee O. says
Oh my, I’d definitely second dishes. I love cooking, but dishes are the one wrench in my kitchen joy, ha ha.
Sara @ LovingOnTheRun says
I would love to have someone do my laundry for a year! It would be AMAZING! I HATE doing laundry.
Annette@FitnessPerks says
I could get behind that gift! I LOVE massages. Love ’em. My husband does a great job of massaging my feet & back on a regular basis though–I am lucky!
The Salonniere @ The Salonniere's Apartments says
Hahaha…a 10 minute massage every day would be AWESOME but I think I would actually go for your other idea of having someone do the dishes! We don’t have a dishwasher either and I really hate washing dishes but I can’t stand them piling up either!!
Ashley Pitt @ A Lady Goes West says
First of all, I’ve seen Jersey Boys (I saw it in Tampa about four years ago), and it was SO good. I love that kind of music, and was amazed by the singing and performing. So I hope you enjoy that.
Second of all, I’d love to have someone do my hair and makeup for me everyday for a year, or maybe someone prepare all of my food for me and have it ready when I needed it. That’d be good too. What a clever idea for a gift though, good thinking on your part.
Alice says
What a great idea! My husband’s birthday is the same day as yours, maybe I’ll give him a 10 minute massage every day this month as a gift. (A whole year is a lot!)
april says
yay for april babies! my 28th birthday is on the 5th.
i’m loving the idea of a daily 10 minute massage, as well, although i wouldn’t mind receiving a weekly pedicure or manicure either! 🙂
Kimberly Ann says
That massage idea is brilliant! I would have to go with laundry.. Not my thing!!

Janessa says
Change diapers! I realize changing each diaper doesn’t take ten minutes but in the course of a day it might. Or maybe have them clean my shower. We have such nasty rust water that we have to clean the shower every week or it turns a funky orange color.
The Zen Kat says
Your title for today’s post got me intrigued! I’m with you on the massage- I’d pick that too 🙂
Charlotte says
My hubby completely spoils me with daily massages! My secret was asking for a 10-minute massage every day for three weeks–less daunting than a whole year, but it only takes 21 days to form a habit, so… 😉 Also, I’ve discovered that if I can distract him by chatting while he massages, I totally get more than ten minutes in, hehehe. Enjoy!
Sarah @ Sweet Miles says
I think that is a PERFECT gift idea!!! Speaking of massages, I’ve got a massage envy gift card burning a hole in my pocket!!
katie says
HECK yes to the massage idea!
And you will LOVE Jersey Boys, one of my top favorite plays!
Hope all is wonderful girl! <3
