I hope to fill you guys in as soon as I know more, but it looks like I will be putting my NASM personal training certification to use very soon! (For those of you who are interested in possibly obtaining your personal training certification in the future, I created an All About NASM page based on your FAQs that you can permanently locate under the “About” tab at the top of the blog.)
Workout
I got things started a little later than usual today (rainy weather makes sleeping in ten times more appealing) and headed to the gym at 7 a.m. Today’s Best Body Boot Camp workout focused on cardio, but I wasn’t in the mood to cardio it up for the whole time and ended up incorporating a short cardio and abs circuit workout at the end.
10 minutes or less! Not too shabby!
After my workout, I headed immediately to Starbucks to work and blog because I had a serious craving for a cappuccino.
Cappuccino + Multigrain bagel with cream cheese
Today is going to be another busy day thanks to a mid-day Taste of Ocala meeting (we have the final walk through!) and a PowerPoint presentation that is demanding my attention for an event that I am speaking at tomorrow afternoon.
See ya after lunch!
Question of the Morning
- What is your favorite abdominal exercise?
My favorite abdominal exercise is the spiderman plank (0:45 in this video). It’s killer!
This workout looks great for a mini burner.
I’m just headed for my workout now, so may have to include this since I need to work on my abs a bit today too.
I love up and down planks for my abs, or hollow rocks are pretty awesome too!
Whenever I head home from the gym I always head to Starbucks, I just love their americanos all too much:)
I love the old plank move the best!
Mmm, bagels! I have a love-hate relationship with planks (mostly hate), but reverse crunches may be one of my favorite moves. They’re just so fun!
I hope you are going to be a group exercise teacher, just from reading your blog I feel like you would be a fantastic group exercise teacher and keep it fun, motivational and challenging all at the same time! I like all ab exercises its hard to pick a favorite, I actually am a huge fan of mountain climbers.
I’m excited to find out what you’ll be doing! I’m loving this quick ab workout. It actually includes my favorite- bicycle crunches. I also like side planks. I’m all about the obliques!
Kettle bell swings always get me in the abs! We were working on leg raises holding on to your partners ankles and they push your legs back down every time you tip their toes last night in class which was tough going for 3 minutes straight! Side lifts with knee tucks are great for the obliques!
Yum. I want to go to Starbucks now.
Scissors kill my abs!
i love planks because there’s so many variations and itz always a challenge to hold it longer than last time!
Always up for a quick ab workout! Will be doing this tonight!! Can’t wait to hear your exciting news!
Oh Starbucks, how I love you. My favorite ab exercise would probably be a floor oblique crunch just because I have the love handles!!
Congrats this post was my first retweet ever lol I’m learning how to use twitter!
Summer season is coming up so this ab workout will be great!
I would say “V-ups” or at least that is what I call them!
Lay on the ground with your body in the curved “v” position with hands over your head and come up with both your legs AND chest and tap your feet with your hands, come back down (without touching ground) and repeat. gets me everrrrrry time!
My favorite move is the plank… but I think bicycle crunches are really effective. When I was in college (and cheerleading) they weren’t very challenging for me so I stopped doing them. I tried again recently and apparently my abs are not what they used to be!
Excited to hear NASM details! That’s awesome. My favorite ab exercise is leg lifts while lying down. It always makes my abs sore!
Planks have to be the best ab work out! Tuck in that tailbone and hold and hold and hold! I also love one my kickboxing gym does called Jersey Shores. You lie on your back kick your legs up in the air (like a shoulder stand) and then lower them and jack hammer at the bottom…definitely a killer!
I love working at Starbucks, such a calming atmosphere and the smell of coffee always wakes me right up.
I quite like sit ups but currently hate all ab workouts as I did a tough one on Tuesday after a couple of weeks’ break, then developed a cold, so it really hurts every time I cough. Gah!
That looks like a great workout and great way to spend the morning! Starbucks is te best treat sometimes!
I’m a new fan of the rock climber!
This looks like a fantastic abs workout! I love ones that get me up and moving and not on the floor the whole time. I can’t wait to see what you will do with your certification! You will be a fantastic personal trainer 🙂
My favorite ab exercise is (are?) Toes 2 Bar. OMG feel the burn!
I love planks at the beginning of ab workouts… if they’re in the middle or at the end of the workout though, my love for them quickly turns into a severe dislike. So hard! That starbucks looks really good- I def think its time for another coffee break.
Plank! Tightens everything! The Taste of Ocala event looks so cool. I would love to have something like this in our local community as well!
I love training abs. It feels so good when they are sore the next day.
I love the hover. like a lot–for training the entire core. SO tough!
Yay–good luck with stuff on the PT!
What a great ab workout! I love finding workouts I can do in the comfort of my own living room – can’t wait to try it out tonight!
This sounds like a fabulous workout, and I love that it only takes 10 minutes. I am going to try this tonight while watching TV!
That’s a great work out. Will give it a shot tomorrow. The bagels seem a good way to cool down.
Thanks
I love any ab exercise that doesn’t require me to lay on my back! My current fave is the Ab Shredder workout in Asylum Vol. 2. It should be called Ab and Shoulder shredder – so. many. planks!!!
Ooo! Exciting news! 🙂 I hate when I get Starbucks cravings after a workout because I don’t have one near me anymore. It’s sad when one of the main things you miss about college is the on-campus Starbucks haha!
Busy bee! You work so hard!
How was the cappuccino? 🙂
Hey Julie – random question. I am looking to get a new laptop and was wondering what kind you have/would you suggest it? I have no idea what kind to get and any suggestions would be great!
YAY :D!!!!! I’m have been waiting, hoping, and wishing that you offer some type of online training program(s)…I am SUPER DUPER excited to see and read what your about to do :D!!!!!!!! Your blog is my daily paper ;D Love it and most of all THANK YOU :)! HUGS
You sound busy – get to work! 😉 But really, keeping my fingers crossed about this “new” venture and can’t wait to hear more about it!
Doing a plain plank is my go-to. I actually did your jump rope & abs circuit workout the other day and I was so tired. I was very over the jump rope by the end…which means it worked!
My favorite is the wood chopper. Either standing with a medicine ball or on the ground with a hand weight.
I love the plank- I did the plank-a-day challenge in March and my final plank was 5 minutes and 3 seconds!I’ll have to try that spiderman plank.
Spider planks are tough! My favorite abdominal move is planks on the ball where you roll/ tuck your knees to your chest.
Love planks! Need to work on them though!
One of my big goals right now is to increase the amount of time I can spend in plank! Love this quick ab set, Julie. Thanks! 🙂
My favorite abs exercise is the side plank (I love hitting the obliques)!
I love Mountain climbers, planks, and leg raises while lying down! I can only do planks right now but I’m itching and excited to do the other ones in a few months 🙂 And I think I know what you’re going to do with your NASM certification! Hehe
I LOVE ab and arm exercises and I want it to burn!!! I think it’s because I’m a runner so I’m constantly using my legs and it’s such a nice change to work something else and it feels great! I love planks (who says that?) b/c I can feel them working, I also like propping my feet up on a stability ball and having my hands on the floor in front (think push up with feet on the ball) and pulling my knees in and out of my chest while rolling the ball back and forth.
10 minutes of less works for me, I have such a problem dragging myself out of bed in time to get in a good workout before work!
Hmmm…maybe suitcases? Have you heard of those before lol? You tuck your knees in a ball and do crunches….kinda fun! Hope you have a productive work day!
Pilates ab workouts are my favorite! They’re killer!
Oooh, congratulations on putting your NASM Certification to use — how exciting!
I’ve been looking for good ab workouts, so I will definitely try this one! I can’t wait to hear how you’re going to use your certification!
