Invitation Station

August 22, 2010 by Julie 52 Comments

Today started off on the right foot with a cold and frothy smoothie.

smoothie 001

smoothie 002

Into the blender went:

  • Frozen strawberries, peaches and banana slices
  • 1 scoop vanilla protein powder
  • 1 c. peach Greek yogurt
  • Milk

The end result…

A deliciously creamy and super sweet smoothie. Yum!

I also made a smoothie for Ryan, who entertained the dog while I whirred away in the kitchen.

Invitation Station

Right now my parents’ house is officially Invitation Station.

invites 003

We’ve been formatting invitations, tying bows and printing cards for hours.

invites 008

Let me just say that printer jams really test your patience. Grr!

invites 001

My hope is to have all of our invitations, RSVP cards and wedding website insert cards printed by the end of the day.

In case you were wondering, we decided to give the invites we printed at Staples earlier this week the axe because they looked a little too informal and felt a little cheap.

Sooo, needless to say invitation project Round Two is in full swing!

Today

This afternoon we have quite the important appointment on the agenda: My wedding-day hair and makeup trial!

Apparently people book these things months and months in advance. Who knew?

When I called different places to ask about makeup and hair for the big day they said I needed to schedule my trial like yesterday. Oops!

Luckily, we were able to squeeze in a trial for this afternoon. I’m still not sure how I want to wear my hair! I have a couple of sample pictures that I think are gorgeous, so I’m planning to bring those along to see what’s realistic.

Question of the Day

Wedding day hair: Up or down?

Be sure to follow PBFingers on Instagram and Facebook!

I'd love to connect with you! I am always so grateful when you let me know you tried one of my recipes or workouts and tag me in your photos or updates. Thank you so much!!!

Wedding invites can be so frustrating, but I’m sure the finished product will be beautiful!! You seem to wear your hair down most of the time, so I’d say down- you’ll look most like yourself!! Hope you enjoy your Sunday 🙂

Depends on the look you want. Since your hair is longer, loose curls would look nice in a half-up half-down do’. Or a simple, classic up-do would look great as well! Whatever style matches your dress and veil the best!

I would say it depends on how formal you want it to be. I think all up is very formal, while down is a lot more casual…you can always compromise with part up part down which I’m a big fan of. Also think about how comfortable you want to be. Sometimes up hair with lots of pins and what not can get really uncomfortable after awhile

I wore mine down. Yours would look beautiful any way at all, but your hair is so pretty that I’d wear it down to show it off!

Hmmm, I think the hair depends on the dress. But your hair is so long, if I were you I’d do some long curls.

Hair and makeup is so much fun! Since I wore my hair down at my wedding, I just made a regular haircut appointment and had them trim and style it. Saved a lot of money, because the word “wedding” wasn’t involved. 🙂

When I get married, I am going to have my hair up. Its one less thing to worry about, and you’ll know it will be beautiful (and stay beautiful) the entire day. You can always leave some pieces down, if you are can’t decide between having it up or down!

I think it all depends on what fits your personality best. I actually wanted to wear my hair down, but one of the very few things Andrew insisted on was that my hair be worn up. It ended up really pretty and I’m glad I did, but honestly, you’re so pretty that down or up it will look beautiful!! 🙂

I pulled my hair back into a simple bun on my wedding day. When my hair is down, I play with it too much. It was one less thing to worry about when it was pulled back. 🙂 Have fun!

Hair UP! You will get sweaty no matter what, and having your hair up will be so much easier to deal with. Plus, updos stay put better! Or, you could have a down style for the ceremony and have your stylist show you a quick, easy way to put it up for the reception.

If you need help with it or want to try someone else, my sister is a professional stylist in your area with a lot of experience with updos. She works for a salon in St. Pete, but she’d be happy to meet you at your house or at her place (also in St. Pete) to do a trial on a weekend coming up. Let me know if you’d like her info!

Up. Your hair is so beautiful down, but with down-dos it seems like there are so many opportunities to get it messed up–wind, coats, getting it stuck on stuff–but up-dos just stay put. Also, it keeps your hair off your neck and sweat-free when you’re getting down on the dance floor!

Oh man, I remember getting so fed up with our wedding invites. They were printed from a company but we printed the addresses on the label and I wasted so many evelopes due to jams. I had my hair half up/half down for my wedding…but I’m a fan of both up dos and down dos.

I think hair down- your hair is SO BEAUTIFUL that I definitely think you should show it off 😉
And good luck with your invitations today! I was just looking @ some- even though we still have a while to finalize all of that- on weddingpaperdivas.com. Although it looks like they can get pretty pricy. Bummer about the ones @ Staples- that sucks 🙁 But I see what you mean about the graphic not continuing.

I wanted to do something out of the ordinary for my wedding hair. I ALWAYS wear it up, so for my wedding I wore it half up and half down.

I did my own hair and make-up, so I had no idea you had to book those things so far in advance!

The invitation really looked quite pretty…darn that graphic at the bottom!

My advice for brides is to wear their hair a manner that still looks like them. Sometimes brides who are very natural and simple go with an up-do and heavy make-up, but that’s not *who they are* day-to-day.

My vote would be half up 😉

About wedding day hair, I think that it just depends on the dress and the overall feel of the wedding. An updo is usually more formal.
A nice half up half down hairdo would fall in the middle and could be extremely elegant also.

i wore my hair up for my wedding…. and highly recommend that because no matter the weather (we had some sun, some wind, some rain) it stays in place. and like everyone else is saying, it’s one less thing to worry about, esp. if you make sure that the pins don’t hurt initially. if they hurt when they put them in at 9 am then they will still hurt at 9 pm! but do wear your hair in a way that is comfortable to you…. you don’t want to look back and think “this isn’t me.” good luck with your choice 🙂

I love how hair swept up looks – highlighting the neck, old-fashioned glamor, all that good stuff. But at the same time, natural, loose hair can be very pretty indeed… I’m pretty sure you’ll look beautiful with whatever style you choose!

You’re probably already there and done, but I always like when a bride does a slightly fancier version of how she typically wears her hair. Nothing too over the top. Halfway up is always a nice option too.

That smoothie looks delicious!! YUMMY fruit 🙂

When I get married I will wear my hair up (and it’s finally getting long enough to do that) and then I would have a few strands hanging down, which I think looks elegant.

Your hair is long and beautiful, and would look so pretty in long loose curls, but wear something that you will be comfortable with.

My wedding day hair was halfsys…lol. Half up and half down. I do have to say, it was absolutely beautiful. No trials for me. Had no idea what I wanted when I went it to get it done. I got married in Vegas at MGM and the salon there did it. I told them to do whatever they wanted and it was awesome. Lots of curls and it held throughout the entire day and night. I was super pleased to say the least. Loved it!
