Today’s workday ended on a good note when I got a call from Ryan saying he wasn’t working late tonight. That meant we would have ample time to head to the dog park with Sadie!
It’s been a while since we’ve paid a visit to the ol’ park, and Sadie was ready and rearin’ to go!
Is that the face of a happy dawg or what?
Sadie’s face wasn’t the only happy one at the park tonight…
After I snapped this picture of Ryan he said, “I feel like Pig-Pen!”
He wasn’t lying. The noseeums were out in full force tonight!
I can’t wait until the weather cools off a bit and the pesky bugs are gone. They attack me every time I go outside to take pictures of my food in our backyard. Not fun. The only thing I like about them is watching baby ducklings jump into the air to try to eat them with their little beaks. Adorable!
We played with Sadie at the park for just under an hour before heading home for dinner.
Dinner
Tonight was quite the unusual night: I wanted something cold for dinner.
A “throw a little bit of everything in a bowl” salad sounded good to me!
My salad included:
- Cabbage
- 1 large red pepper
- 1/2 medium zucchini
- 1/2 plum tomato
- Large handful shoestring carrots
- 1 stalk celery, chopped
- 3 oz. shrimp, chopped
- Kraft Light Asian Toasted Sesame dressing
It hit the spot!
Pumpkin, Pumpkin Everywhere!
Good news!
Not only are pumpkin spice beverages available at Starbucks now (I have a serious obsession with light pumpkin spice Frappuccinos), but other places are stocking up on fall decorations, treats and more.
Check out the lovely autumn display I saw at Bath and Body Works this evening when I stopped by to nab some soap for our kitchen:
I spent a good 20 minutes smelling all of the fall-scented candles. A new favorite: Creamy pumpkin.
I absolutely adore the smell of pumpkin, cinnamon, nutmeg and vanilla. Any candle that combines those scents is a winner in my book.
Here’s hoping grocery stores begin stocking canned pumpkin soon…
Tonight
I’m off to update our wedding registry and add some new dish towels to the list because Ryan someone burnt a hole in one of our nice ones tonight. 😉
See ya on FRIDAY morning! 😀
Ooooh, yes, I LOVE fall candle scents!! So warm!
I’m excited to see more fall related items in the store too! I’m sure I’ll be missing summer soon, but for now, I’m happy that fall is on the way!
Fall is by far my favorite season. I can’t wait for it to hurry up and get here!!!
My favorite fall candle from B&B is Leaves! It smells DELICIOUS! I love it. And I also love Creamy Nutmeg. 🙂
Yea, Autumn! Fall is so close I can taste it…errr…smell it. 😉 Y’all have convinced me to make a trip to Bath and Body Works!
Adorable pics of Sadie. I too love Fall scented products like candles.
That salad, btw, looked delish!
Sorry to hear about the dish towel, but glad you can add them to your wedding registry!
PUMPKIN CANDLES!!! Yay. I’m excited to see all of those!
If you like pumpkin spice try this (and I’m a former Starbucks employee so I’ve experimented with everything and trust me when I say this is the best combo ever). Either get an americano or coffee, whichever you prefer, and have them add two pumps of white mocha and one of pumpkin spice, for a tall.
Tastes decadent and amazing, and it’s not too terrible for you because you’re not getting it full sweet and you aren’t getting all the steamed milk, but it will still taste creamy and delicious because of the syrups.
It’s my favorite thing to get when pumpkin spice comes out.
Fall is my absolute favorite season. I got a little too excited when I saw that Pumpkin Spice Lattes are back! 🙂 Pumpkin tastes and smells so good.
sadie is such a cutie patootie! she looks so happy playing at the park!
Ok, for real Sadie is seriously one of *the* cutest pups I have ever seen. I am in love with her pictures! What a cute face! Also, pumpkin is my fave scent as well. So, as sad as I always am to wavy ‘buh-bye’ to Summer, I always look forward to the fall scented candles! Have fun updating your registry!
I love Pumpkin anything but I’m not sure I’m ready to welcome fall just yet. 🙁
Aww oh my gosh your dog is adorable 🙂
I’m sad that everything in autumn is being sold in stores from pumpkin to halloween candy.. i’m not ready for cold weather yet!! Summertime’s my favorite season 🙁 and i hate anything cold
Yay for pumpkin!! 🙂
Mmm I love easy throw-together dinners as much as Sadie loves the dog park! 🙂
sadie girl! that’s what my pups looked like after the dog park tonight too 🙂 also, i can’t find pumpkin anywhere 🙁
I LOVE fall candles! I stocked up when Yankee had a sale a couple of weeks ago. Vanilla Pumpkin = amazing!
I thought I was the only one that loved pumpkin and the ‘bucks’ Pumpkin Spice Latte! We should start a pumpkin fan club…
i’m going to starbucks tomorrow just for a pumpkin spice latte!
I am SO weirdly obsessed with pumpkin. I think they are a “cute” botanical fruit.
That rhymed 🙂
YUUM – gotta love the “everything but the kitchen sink” salads!
Yours looked SO good!
😀
I love the smell of cinnamon and nutmeg this time of year. I actually feel super lucky reading about the pumpkin shortage elsewhere. We have canned pumpkin yearround here and I never have to worry about not getting my fix!
Sadie looks so happy, it’s adorable.
I can’t wait to smell pumpkin baking in the oven, and all the spices..
I wish I could try that pumpkin spice latte :/
I love the emergence of fall flavors/scents/colors… I’ve got to try that Pumpkin Spice Frapp Lite!
Your dog is absolutely adorable! Trying that frapp you love is definitely on my new to do list! Love pumpkin! =)
I’m really hoping we’ll get pumpkin back in the stores here! It’s been out for months, and we usually have it all year (I know, there’s a shortage). Pumpkin candles are one of my favorites, AND I had an iced pumpkin spiced latte from Starbucks yesterday!
Bring on fall…
Mmmm, pumpkin…I used an amazing pumpkin polenta recipe recently that was unbelievably satisfying:
1 tsp cinnamon
1 tsp nutmeg
pinch of salt
.5 cup dry polenta mix
1.5 cups of water
3 tbsp honey
.5 cup pumpkin (mashed or canned)
Boil half your water, and add the other half to the polenta mixed with spices & salt…I simmered my polenta for about 15 minutes before adding the honey and pumpkin at the end (they cook fast). So tasty with crisp apple slices or vanilla yogurt! 🙂
Love the pumpkin scents too! They make the house smell so homely. If that is a word. 😉
I need to get my hand on some fall scents. I went through all of my fall candles last year and i’m in desperate need of some new ones. I may have to check out Bath & Body Works now as I too need some new soap for my house. Thanks for sharing. 🙂
Hi Julie, I’m new to your blog and I love it! Sadie is so adorable and she seems to love to have her picture taken! I love pumpkin anything! I can’t wait for Fall to get into full swing!. BTW, congraulations on your upcoming wedding, you and Ryan make a beautiful couple.
