Check out the scene as I drove home from work this evening.
The pouring rain meant no walk for this little girl:
It also meant no trip to to PetSmart to get her nails clipped, which I think made her quite happy.
Sadie didn’t seem too thrilled about the idea when I tweeted about it earlier…
Her rebuttal via her own twitter account:
Seriously though, what kind of a dog has a twitter account? 😉
Dreary Day Dinner
Since Sadie’s walk and nail clipping appointment were no longer on the agenda, the rainy weather meant slipping into comfy pajamas right when I walked in the door.
I busted out my comfy flannel pj pants for the first time in months. Who cares if it’s in the 80s outside? Dreary weather demands cozy clothes!
After changing, it was time to get a lil’ dirty in the kitchen.
(Thanks, Rachel for my new super-soft tank top!)
We had some lean ground beef waiting to be cooked into something delicious in the fridge, so I made us beef and cucumber bowls using Asian flavors and spices.
To make the beef, I first sautéed 3/4 of a large onion in a pan before adding the beef.
I then added soy sauce, hoisin sauce, rice vinegar and chili sauce to the mix and let it simmer for a bit while I chopped up a cucumber.
After topping the cucumber slices with the Asian beef, dinner was ready for eatin’.
The cold, crispness of the cucumber slices were the perfect compliment to the heat from the beef.
Gotta love flavorful, healthy dinners that take less than 20 minutes to prepare!
I’m off to relax on the couch with a book for the rest of the night.
G’night!

Julie, great meal and all but where’s the carbs for balance?
i ate a whole wheat tortilla as i was making this b/c i was really hungry when i walked in the door. i planned to make asian beef & cucumber wraps, but i got too hungry. 🙂 also, sometimes my meals are more carb heavy, while sometimes they’re more protein heavy. it just depends on what i’m craving. also, just FYI, i don’t blog about everything i eat.
Mmmmmmmmm!!!
I wear PJs whenever I’m in the house haha and $8 is TOTALLY worth it. I don’t have a dog but cutting their nails seems like a challenge.
It’s so nice to have those nights where you can slip right into pajamas when you get home from work! I had one of those days yesterday and it was so relaxing.
PS – Sadie is the most adorable dog I’ve ever seen! She always makes the cutest faces. She’s one of the reasons I want to own a dog sometime in the near future. What a sweetheart!
I change the SECOND I walk in the door, as long as I’m not going out again! You’re making me want beef — I need the iron!
Great meal! That looks so delicious. And I actually change into my pjs most nights. If my workout is done and I have nothing else to do, I just want to be cozy.
I change into my pajamas right when I get home each day I just love being cozy! Dinner looks good as usual! =)
I love that Sadie has Twitter. 😉
I love that tank top! And I HATE clipping my dogs nails too. She bites and claws me…so worth it to pay to get it done!
totally agree! clipping a dog’s nails is a miserable experience!
aw, sadie looks sad in that picture! no walk=sad sadie. she’s so cute!
i love spending rainy days indoors in cozy clothes…being stuck outdoors on rainy days are a completely different story!
I wouldn’t think to use beef and cucumber together! Looks great! Rain clouds are always the perfect excuse to pull out the flannels!
Rain = pajamas! Throw in a good book or movie and tasty grub…perfection! 🙂 Enjoy!
Haha this must have felt like a snow day for Sadie! 🙂 As much as I hate rainy dreary weather, I love a reason to bust out the sweat pants!
Oh how I love Sadie. 🙂
Awe, Sadie looks happy she does not have to go get her nails clipped!
Oh I like this recipe idea! Easy to whip up with things I usually have in the house! Have a cozy evening!
Awww sadie is so cute! It takes both me and my dad holding my dog to clip her nails. She’s only a medium-sized female labrador, but her full strength definantly comes out when it’s nail clipping time – amazing!
Sadie looks so cute! I change as soon as I walk though the door 🙂
i know i’m a HUGE fan of easy dinners that are healthy! love love love 🙂 i’m just now learning to love cucumbers too, so this is probably a good beginner dish for 🙂
My dog hates the rain too! She is such a diva at times, but really a tomboy at heart. 🙂
I change into my comfy clothes within seconds of walking in the door. Why keep on the uncomfortable work clothes when you can wear pjs?
Ha, I love that Sadie has her own twitter account!! I know who I will be following ASAP.
Great recipe by the way! I never thought to use cucumbers in an asian dish!
Mmmm, looks delish!
I’m such a fan of the flannel PJ’s – it’s not raining up here, but it is cold and windy – I broke out my favorite big, comfy hoodie this evening. 🙂
that dinner looks so good i’ll have to try it out soon. 🙂 and btw- i change immediately upon arriving home. comfy clothes all the way!
Sadie is too funny. 🙂 Right when I get home, I change into my comfy clothes.
DEF making that cucumber dish tomorrow. i just happened to have ground turkey and huge homegrown cucumbers that needa be used in le fridge!
and i love your-oops i mean Sadie’s twitter account 😉
This dish sounds great!
I always change into my PJs the moment I walk in the door. After 8+ hours in business attire, I want OUT! 🙂
Yum that looks so good! I’m jealous you had rain. I want an all day thunderstorm so badly! I also wear my jami’s all the time at home! What book are you reading? 🙂
i just started reading “bitter is the new black.” total girly chick-lit book. 🙂
Oh my goodness Sadie looks incredibly sad about not getting in her walk!
I agree about comfy clothing…I pretty much require them the minute I get into the door no matter the weather outside.
I am jealous of the weather there! I love those type of days!
Cute PJs! I can’t wait til I can bust out my chilly nights-wear 😉
Sadie cracks me up! I love that she has her own twitter account! Too funny! 🙂
I can’t wait to get a house so I can finally get a puppy. I just love dogs!
Mmm, dinner looks so good! BTW, how is it that you look so darn cute, dressed up or dressed down!? 😉
aweee i love your pj’s!! getting comfy for cooking is SO important isnt it! 😀
mmm u make a hearty dinner thats sure to please <3
xoxo
Oh your dog! I keep dropping hints to my family that I want one for my very own. I even pulled up your blog and showed pictures. If I get one, I will fo sho make her a Twitter account and our pups can be BFFs.
I WANT THAT TANK TOP!!!!!!!!!!!
This dinner sounds VERY good. I’m going to try it sometime.
AWW Sadie look so sad for not going for her walk, she’s sooooo cute 🙂
Dinner looks delish! Love Sadie’s reply on twitter.. you have one smart dog there. I don’t know any other dog that can type or has a twitter account! haha
It was super dreary here too yesterday, and again this morning. That looks awesome!
Um, for the record, I think Sadie having her own Twitter account is adorable. And maybe you should change your blog name to PB & Jammies! 😉 Love the tanks! Where are they from?
thanks! victoria’s secret 🙂 the back is actually the cutest part -it’s racer-back & lacy!
I put my jammies on when I get home too 😉
Great storm!
I was going to say, cute tank!
Love the dish, even on a hot summer day. I added extra heat
This recipe was delicious! I will def make this again!!!
trying this tonight!
Just want you to know that I’ve been cooking this for years. I legit crave it. Its the Pinterest recipe that I use the most. So thanks for years of deliciousness!
