Err… I’m a bee…
Today, in my yellow and black attire, I feel like a bumble bee! (Picture taken during a pre-work run to Target, in case you were curious.)
I always associate certain color combinations with certain things, such as:
- Yellow + Black = Bee
- Pink + Green = Watermelon
- Gold + Black = University of Central Florida
- Orange + Blue = University of Florida
- Yellow + Green = My High School (Fremd, woo!)
- Red + Green = Christmas
- Orange + Black = Halloween
- Red + White + Blue = Fourth of July
- Anything Neon = The ’80s
My lunch featured an array of colors including yellow, red and green… Which made me think of Ghana’s flag. (Ryan, are you impressed? See, I did pay attention during the World Cup!)
The lineup included two sliced peppers (one yellow and one red with specks of green), parsnip fries and a liverwurst and Muenster cheese roll up.
Guys, I’ve really tried to keep my love for liverwurst to a minimum on the blog. Sometimes it just has to rear its ugly head!
Though several of you likely gagged looking at my plate of stinky liverwurst, I enjoyed every last bite! 😀
Back to work until I bust out of this joint to tackle a fun night of… packing.
Question of the Afternoon
Do you associate certain color combinations with certain things?
I totally see things in color matching outfits… 🙂
I was thinking about liverwurst just the other day… haven’t had it in years, and I was craving the salty goodness.
YESSSSSS! the third liverwurst lover on the entire planet! 🙂
I’m scared of liverwurst just because of the name, but have been told more than once that I need to try it 🙂
my favorite color combo: red & black for my Georgia Bulldogs!
I always associate gold+purple with my grade school!
I used to like liverwurst as a kid – my mom always got it for us!
And I associate all the holiday colors with holidays, as well as my highschool colors!
My high school was green and gold as well!!
However– black and gold in my book only makes me think of… NEW ORLEANS SAINTS 😀
I think liverwurst looks so good, but I just never think to get it. May have to try it this weekend. I love trying new things! 🙂
I’d definitely associate black and gold/yellow with either the Columbus Crew (soccer) or Steelers! 🙂 Two of my favorite teams!
I am the same way about colors…yellow and black always reminds me of a bee! haha!! And I am the same way about my school colors and sports affiliations.
I wore orange and black on Monday & totally felt like Halloween!
OMG.. no way, I loooove liverwurst. I have to say, every friend around me who disses the stuff is forced to try it in my presence. Out of all those friends, only ONE has claimed total dissatisfaction. Go liverwurst, go liverwurst!
i made ryan try it too & he liked it!
definitely agree with the color combo thingy!
orangeeeeee blueeeeeeeeee (go gators! hehehe)
still need to try parsnip fries!
yes, you definitely do. they’re one of my all-time favorite side dishes!
I agree with the color combos, i’m always reminded of these things when I see these colors together.
I would never, ever imagine you liking liverwurst. Hilarious. Maybe it’s the look of it that scares people away?!?! But I won’t knock it until I try it.
And I do the same thing with colors! Pretty much the same as yours – any combo of blue, white, red = american (flag); purple and gold = ECU Pirates; I used to have a pair of green pants I would wear with a brown top and I felt like an upside-down tree. But I totally feel you on the yellow and black = bee – but it doesn’t stop me from wearing it!!!!
HAHA. Totally know what your talking about. I always feel like a bee when I wear yelloow and black! =)
What is liverwurst? I’ve heard the name, but I’ve never tried it or know of anyone who eats it. Is it actually liver? Lol!
It’s a lunch meat.. kinda like bologna! At least.. that’s kinda what it tastes like. Just a different texture.
You don’t need to hide your love of liverwurst! I think it makes you unique 🙂
LOVE LIVERWURST!!! Boar’s head makes a Light Liverwurst that is the BOMB with less guilt. There also used to be a Light and Lively Liverwurst I would get at Market Basket in the New England area.
One can never get enough, and with nice stinky german cheese its the best!
BLUE + WHITE = PENN STATE 🙂
I have never tried liverwurst, but now I’m kind of curious! I feel like it would be good fried on an egg sandwich!
I can’t do red and green together in any way unless its Christmas time. Drives me crazy. And red + black will always be UGA to me. For that reason I refuse to wear orange + blue together. LOL I’m a color freak too.
hahahah I love this post!! While I was deciding what top to wear to work this morning, I had on black pants already and was going to put on an orange top but immediately thought, “Eww no! I look like I’m celebrating Halloween early!” ; )
So yes I definitely associate color combinations to certain things, all the time!
Love the colors of your food choices today, but I’ll skip the liver worst 🙂
Yes, color combos do remind me of holidays such as the above mentioned and then green and white were my HS colors 🙂
Love the University of Florida reference! Former gator here, whoot whoot!
Liverwurst SOUNDS scary but so did brussel sprouts until I finally tried them!!
I heard somewhere that the middle of the parsnips are woody and unpleasant. Do you cut around the middle or if not, do you notice it and does it bother you?
i like the middle! i don’t cut around it & i think it’s tasty. 🙂
I am as well a liverwurst lover too! I only have it once in a blue moon but when I do have it….it’s soooo good!!
Oh I definitely associate colors with certain things similarly to yours. Red and green always remind me of Christmas but they also remind me of Alpha Chi Omega colors, hehe!
You outfit kind of reminds me of UCF because people rarely wear gold to games, mostly yellow and black. I really like your shirt!
GO KNIGHTS!
I have this great green dress that I love, but the guys in my office all make fun of it because it looks like the color of st patricks day. I never knew there was a specific shade of green for the holiday but apparently there is and it inspires my extremely mature male colleagues to call me a leprechaun and talk about lucky charms all day. Hopefully your coworkers are a little kinder and didn’t spend the day bzzzzing every time you walked by!
pink+purple=valentine’s day
haha.
what does liverwurst taste like? what animal is it from?
You look so cute!
and whenever I wear black and yellow I totally think of bumblebees as well!
thanks! liverwurst typically comes from a pig.
I love liverwurst! It’s so funny because my husband who will eat anything…tongue, liver, kidney, brain, pigs feet…turns up his nose at liverwurst and I don’t know why- it’s delicious!
My grandma always gave it to us with dijon mustard on triscuits. Yum. 🙂
oh that sounds like a winning combination to me!
Liverwurst and crackers was my favourite snack when I was growing up! I totally forgot about it!!! I loved on crackers, or spread on toast. So delicious!
Yes, I would say your outfit reminds me of the New Orleans Saints–black and gold to the Superbowl! 😉 Liverwurst, I’ve never had it. But you say it stnks, so I don’t think I want to even try it.
I love your dress! Your so pretty!
But such a cute little bee you are! 😉
i love color combinations! i definitely think the same way as you 🙂
For a long time I thought it was weird to wear brown with black but I think it can be pulled off now.
I cannot wear black and orange together….feels to halloween like!
Not a fan of liverworst…ugh…but my Mom is! She always insists on buying it and eating it right in front of me. EW! 😛
My high school color was yellow and green too! I haven’t had liverwurst in SO long.. I’m not sure if I’m grossed out by it. I’d have to try it again to find out.
I’ve NEVER tried liverwurst and I’m pretty sure I never will! lol. But to each their own, right? 🙂
Blue and yellow reminds me of high school. Red, black and white reminds me of middle school. And green and blue was my second elementary school. Funny how I can still remember each one except for my first elementary school.
And I definitely agree, I think bee every time I see yellow and black.
