Workout
It’s a rainy day in Central Florida. I think the dreary weather caused me to crave a super-simple workout.
I decided to bump my typical weight-training routine to tomorrow morning in favor of a steady-state cardio session split between the arc trainer and the elliptical.
I jammed out to the Lady Gaga station on Pandora on my phone. (Tina was right. This station rocks!) Pony by Ginuwine was my favorite surprise notably awesome and wonderfully inappropriate song that blasted into my headphones about 20 minutes into my 50-minute workout.
Breakfast
After completing our workouts, Ryan and I headed home for some food.
On the menu today was a peanut butter and cranberry sauce bagelwich.
I spread half of a toasted whole wheat bagel thin with a thick smear of peanut butter while the other half was topped with homemade cranberry sauce. Just because the holidays are over doesn’t mean my love for homemade cranberry sauce has dissipated!
Though nothing can beat a classic peanut butter and jelly sandwich, I love recreating pb & j’s and making my own versions:
All are highly recommended by this peanut butter lover.
Coming Up
Ryan has the day off today (he gets every other Friday off work) and said he has an idea for a guest post that he’s going to email to me later today. Stay tuned! (You may see his first guest post here.)
Motivational Mantra of the Day
Your limits might not be where you think they are. (Submitted by Margaret via IronMan Chrissie Wellington)
Your homemade cranberry sauce looks so good! I need to try this with my bag of cranberries. They have been sitting there for a week and I have no idea what to do with them.
Yay for Ryan and I both getting our off-Friday off…thanks LM!
haha i always tell ryan about your comments! i love that you’re a fellow LM-er. 🙂
Peanut Butter and Cranberry sauce sounds so good on a bagel! How do you make your cranberry sauce? I’ve never made homemade before. I’d be interested to see how you make it. 🙂
i make it following the recipe on the back of the bag! bring 1 c. water & 1 one c. sugar to a boil, dump in cranberries and let simmer until they pop and the sauce becomes thick. i don’t measure the sugar, but i definitely use less than the 1 c. the recipe calls for b/c i like a slightly tart taste.
I was just going to ask you this!! I am craving it. I will try it this weekend. Happy Friday!!!
Do you make the cranberry sauce yourself?? I know its homemade but was it made in your home? 😉 If sooo is there a recipe or how exactly do you make it? It looks so yummy!
see comment answer above! 🙂
lol my computer must be running slow! Thanks tho… I’m going to try it! I love tart cranberries too.
That looks like a delicious breakfast, Julie 🙂 I want to try to make that cranberry sauce someday…..lucky Ryan gets the day off!
I’m loving that PB & C… I need to try it! it makes sense, since J is so much like C. 😉
Mmm, peanut butter and cranberry sounds great! And I live the lady gaga station too…perfect for working out!
I’m looking forward to Ryan’s post this afternoon…I loved the first round of his questions. Happy Friday!!
Pb&c looks goood!
That would be amazing if I had every other Friday off 🙂
Not trying to be obnoxious, but simple and simplistic don’t mean the same thing. Simplistic means excessively simple, simple to a fault. I don’t think you would describe a workout as simplistic.
updated. thanks!
I’ve been listening to the Lady Gaga Pandora station also when I work out. It’s not something I’d normally listen to at home or in the car, but it’s perfect for motivation!
In honor of your PB post, check out my breakfast last weekend! I called it the “Best of All World”
http://birduponthewind.blogspot.com/2011/01/best-of-all-worlds.html
It was obscenely delicious and was something I WILL make again! It was like making dessert for breakfast and I had to resist a second!
Yummm I love PB&J… that cranberry sauce looks heavenly! Im jealous about the day off!
Ryan’s got a sweet deal getting Fridays off!! And I love your comments about the Ginuine song – you’re right, wonderfully inappropriate! 😉
Where are you getting your cranberries?! I have been craving cranberry sauce after seeing it on your blog several times and every grocery store tells me that cranberries are very out of season and I won’t be able to get them anywhere. Of course I do live in Chicago, which probably explains a lot haha.
i’m buying them at my local grocery store (publix) near the strawberries and blueberries. maybe your grocery sells frozen cranberries?
I love cranberry sauce anytime of the year! I don’t care if it’s Thanksgiving or not… I will eat my cranberry sauce! 😀
YUM! Your sandwich looks good!!!!
Can’t wait to see Ryan’s guest post! =D
Just read Ryan’s first guest post and it was too funny! I’ve semi-inspired my boyfriend to want to start a blog…he is pretty much good at everything but easily distracted so maybe I can let him to a guest post someday. Looking forward to Ryan’s next post
I had a PB & B sandwich for brekkie this morning. (Peanut Butter and Banana)…Mmmmm
I’ve never had PB & C! That sounds really interesting. My favorite fruit spread is the stuff from Trader Joe’s….it’s soooooooo good.
I’m pretty sure I could live off of anything peanutbutter and jelly related for the rest of my life, easy. Never gets old!
PS — this is totally random but you mentioning Iron Man reminded me of this video I saw this morning and I thought you’d want to see it! Check out this couple that got married at the finish line of their first IronMan Race!! SO crazy!! http://vimeo.com/16627768
PB and cranberry..never would have thought of that combo! Sounds delicious!
Pb and ANYTHING is yummy. Heck, you can pb on a piece of plastic (aka a kong) and dogs go INSANE! That’s gotta tell you something.
Caaaan’t wait for Ryan’s post 🙂
I’m trying to get my Ryan to do a guestpost. He’s freakin’ hilarrrious (and a really good writer!) just super busy with workin’ late. One of these days I’ll get him!
I am now going to be singing Pony for the remainder of the day. Thank you for that.
join the club! “my saddle’s… waitin’! come and jump oooon it!”
I look forward to your fashion posts…I have zero style and practically live in my workout clothes. Funny you mentioned the Arc trainer…I just used that yesterday.
Also…because of your love for body pump, I actually took a class the other night for the first time. I am hooked! I love being able to work my muscles head to toe in one hour. That class will totally breath new life into my workout routine! Thanks!!!
Happy Friday =)
Jennifer
ahh i love pb variations!! cranberry sounds fab! ahah cant wait for Ryan’s postt!!!
i live in orlando and my husband works at the same place as your husband…..i HATE leaving on his off friday to go to work with him still at home!!! NOT FAIR!! 😉
do they know each other???
i don’t think so…..i showed him a picture of your husband and he said he didnt know him. from what i hear it’s a pretty big place!! 😉
yes, definitely big! i had to ask, just in case. 🙂
i know i put 2 and 2 together by what type of place you said he worked at and then the every other friday off!!
see you next month at the boot camp!!!
I am going to have to try the lady gaga station. I am needing some upbeat motivating music.
peanut butter goes with everything, I’m convinced. My secret favorite combo = peanut butter and bacon. Trust me don’t know it ’til you’ve tried it!
Question for you Julie … you always talk about Ryan’s weird hours and his days off and such …. just curious … what does he do? Is he the law enforcement or medical field? Maybe you have mentioned it on another post and I missed it … but just curious. 🙂
he works in finance for a large defense company. 🙂
Dark.Chocolate.Dreams. I seriously wake up craving it.
I’m excited for your fashion section! Did you figure out how to write posts just for a page and not have them show up on your home page? I want to do a travel section and haven’t figured that out yet…
no i haven’t! if you do, please let me know!
That elliptical is the exact one at my gym!!!! 🙂 What a coinsidence!
Your breky looks goods…if you look at the picture of it with the light reflecting on the plate it kind of looks like a happy face lol. I still make cranberry sauce too, but with frozen crans, stevia or sweet n’ low. Cranberries are so healthy too! (probably not when I make em with sweet n’ low though)
