Ryan is my bean boy! He’s always there to help pop the ends off of green beans before we prep them for dinner.
When we were in Sanibel, he and my dad took on this task.
My dad said, “Popping green beans is awful. I’ll never do that again. What a pain. I’d never eat green beans ever again if I had to go through that every time!”
He’s a little dramatic, no?
Truth be told, Ryan isn’t a big fan of popping off the ends of the beans either and created his own method involving a huge handful of beans and a very large knife.
Whatever works!
Tonight’s dinner included roasted green beans prepared by Ryan and salmon with a raspberry glaze.
I’m so glad Ryan likes salmon prepared this way. Since he’s not a huge fan of salmon, I love having a great go-to recipe for one of my favorite kinds of fish that I know he really enjoys. Score!
Dessert included two squares of dark chocolate and a fudgesicle.
I think I may grab another one. I’m really cravin’ cold and creamy chocolate tonight!
fudgesicles! oh that makes me excited for summer 🙂
My mom always used to make me pop off the green bean ends too. I hated it. But roasted green beans are delicious, so I guess it’s worth it!!
I hated it too… now it’s Ryan’s job! 😉
I haven’t had a fudgesicle in years! I can’t even say it right! For some reason, whenever I try, it comes out, “fudge-es-cle.” I am such a weirdo!
aw, lol…that is adorable!
tell ryan my green bean method involves a large handful of beans and a pair of scissors!!
Oooh creative!
I’ve never had roasted string beans! I haven’t had fresh ones in a long time, I usually buy them frozen now.
That salmon looks perfect! Yum!
do it, chocolate is the BEST 🙂 Love salmon-sad that Ryan isn’t a huge fan, but I guess he’s found somethin’ that works! G-night.
I remember sitting on the front porch at my parent’s house when I was really little, snapping the end off of fresh green beans from the garden on hot summer evenings. Ahhh memories. <3
Fudgisicles…oh I love them! I kinda want one..right now.
Salmon looks perfect!
And Ryan…totally not hitting on your man (I have one, and he’s plenty…lol)…but hubba hubba, you scored yourself a hottie 🙂 But you are a hottie too 🙂
i hate popping green beans too. my stepmom and i were cooking a few weekends ago and my job was to pop the green beans. i must say, it’s more fun when your sipping a martini as well 😉
Alot of work for the beans, but worth every bite.
And yes a knife or scissors usually get the job a bit faster
I LOVE snapping beans! I also like sorting change and jigsaw puzzles…clearly I like tedious activities.
I’m making green beans tonight too! I’m going to add a little italian seasoning and make them into green bean fries. YUM!
So here’s the thing…I never pop the ends of the green beans…I just eat them. Oops….I might sprout green beans one of these days.
I would agree with ryan just a tad, but once you eat them, you forget all about the work. Love them!
Your fish looks awesome too!
We had green beans tonight, but I bought the cheater fresh bag located in the produce section. Just popped it into the microwave, added a few teaspoons of olive oil and some garlic powder, good to go! As a child I use to hate doing that as well…. but it wasn’t that bad compared to husking corn!!!
Ahh! Enjoy your yummy fudgesicles!
When I get tired of popping the ends off of beans, I use my kitchen shears to chop off the ends.
I love Fudgesicles, I haven’t had one since childhood! I’m craving chocolate tonight too…maybe a little cookie dough 🙂
I eat fudgescicles almost everyday after dinner!
I just bought Fudgesicles the other day!! They are SOOOO good!! Enjoy!
heheh my grandma does the same thing with green beans.. grabs a handful and takes a knife to it like its nobodys business
I used to always help my mom with the beans! I guess I was the bean girl 🙂 I love Fudgesicles! I don’t think I have had them since college!
Uh oh… I never snap off the ends. Could be bad news… haha
My Nana takes the ends of the green beans so quick… Envy!
I love green beans so I think I could tough it out! Your dinner looks delicious!
That salmon is becoming a regular meal so it must be good! I’m always the one to have to snap the beans 🙁
Such a great dinner! I haven’t had a Fudgesicle in ages…now I’m craving one!
I think i’m in the minority when I say I like poppin’ the beans… (does that sound dirty to anyone else?! haaaa!)
and you can never go wrong with salmon. I cannot comprehend what Ryan is talking about… any way salmon is prepared is a good way! (Glad he at least likes it one way you prepare it!)
i agree i hate popping the ends off of green beans!!!! I sometimes cut them too!
my husband cuts the ends off too!
Roasted green beans are the best…they’re amazing! Perfect side dish for dinner 😉
I really need to try that salmon recipe. Every time I see it, I drool. 😉
Yum. I haven’t had a fudgesicle. in years! Sounds so good.
I prefer cutting the ends off and eating green beans raw- so crunchy!
ahhh fudgesicles remind me of summer!!!! its coming.. it is coming.. i can FEEL IT!
I’ve been craving salmon all week! I think the festcway to have then is with a glaze. I’m going to make an Asian kind tonight! I used to beg to snap green bean ends at thanksgiving every year!
I looove fudgecicles! =P
Do you think there’s another berry that you could sub for the raspberries in the glaze? We don’t get raspberries here…
Well you just need raspberry jelly. Do you have that?
I don’t believe so. For some reason, raspberries aren’t very popular here….I’ll check though!
My husband wants to eat dessert at your house, he love fudge pops!
Mmm, I haven’t had a fudge pop in forever! That sounds so good!
mmm fudgsicle. havent had one in eyars
I love roasted green beans! They are so tasty. Speaking of which, I haven’t had any in a while. I need to get to that! Love fudge pops! They are so good.
I made orated green beans last night! and I have the leftovers to look forward to today! I don’t mind popping the ends off because I was standing in my kitchen watching tv while doing it!
*roasted….I’m having trouble typing today, clearly.
Love the blog I’ve been reading daily for a few months now. I love seeing what people eat hah! I’m curious how much fruit you eat? It doesn’t look like you eat a lot is that cuz you save sugar for your snacks? 🙂
i usually eat fruit a couple of times a day. i don’t blog about everything that i eat, but i do think fruit pops up in my breakfasts quite often – in yogurt bowls, the bagelwich from this morning, smoothies, etc.
I always use a knife for green beans. I had no idea that some people had the patience for anything else!
I’m more like Ryan where I’m picky about what fish I’ll eat…my husband is more like you 🙂 Fish lover! So far we’ve tried both this recipe that you posted and your honey/ soy salmon, I think it was called and I approved. Thanks for all your great recipes, Julie!
