After work yesterday, Ryan and I headed to the Bob Carr Performing Arts Center ticket booth to submit our names in the Wicked Lottery!
To participate in the lottery, you simply fill out a card with your name and address and then two hours before each performance of Wicked, 10 names are drawn and each person receives two orchestra seats to the next performance for only $25 a piece. (The same tickets are $150+ through Ticketmaster!)
I never feel particularly lucky, but for some reason, I felt lucky last night! Ryan and I were two of at least 70 people to submit our names, but I told him we were gonna win. I just had a feeling!
The first name was called… then the second… and it was me! I squealed like a little girl (or, for those of you who have seen Wicked, I squealed like Glinda) and ran up to claim our tickets. We were in!
Since there were still two hours until the 8 p.m. show time, Ryan and I headed home to eat dinner and hang with Sadie before changing and driving back to see the show. The whole theater was buzzing when we arrived and people congratulated us for winning the lottery quite a few times. We felt awfully special!
When we went to take our seats, the usher looked at our tickets and told us to head way down close to the stage… really close.
Our seats were in the front row! I had no idea that we won FRONT ROW tickets! I freaked out and Ryan and I were pretty blown away.
I’ve never sat in front row seats for anything before so this was very special.
Though we have both seen Wicked before, we became even bigger fans of the show last night. It’s such a fun musical! I kind of want to be Gaaaalinda.
The front row seats were also really neat. As we were driving home, Ryan said that sitting in the front row taught him two things:
- Everyone wears a wig
- Everyone spits when they sing
It as a special night!
Workout
We were up pretty late last night since we didn’t get home until after 11 p.m. and were both still wide awake. Fortunately we managed to sleep until 8:15 a.m. which is basically unheard of in our house. It was awesome!
Up first on our agenda: The gym!
Today’s workout was seriously fun, all thanks to Ryan. We started our workout with 20 minutes of cardio on the treadmill. (I followed the same 20-minute treadmill workout from Thursday.)
After cardio, we headed upstairs for some strength training. Ryan took me through an upper-body workout on the TRX suspension strap. It was challenging and made me feel like I was working muscles in my triceps that I didn’t even know I have.
I rounded out my workout with some leg work before doing abs chillin’ on the mat waiting for Ryan to finish.
Breakfast
Once our time at the gym was done, we headed home for breakfast.
Today’s meal included two toasted Van’s waffles, topped with two eggs and some raspberry jelly.
It was the perfect breakfast to kick off a fun-filled weekend.
Time to walk the dog before heading out for some fun at an event organized by Ryan’s work. It’s beeeeeautiful outside today!

I LOVE Wicked! My mom and I saw it last year in Seattle. Front row for that show would be amazing! Last week in London, I got a front row seat to see CHICAGO for half price and it was a-maz-ing!
Gabriela @ Une Vie Saine says
They do a lottery for the show on Broadway too, and the first time I saw it that’s how we got our tickets. It was SO AMAZING to be first row for the “Defying Gravity” scene, even more so since it was Idina Menzel’s very last show EVER (she was supposed to have a few more, but ended up breaking her ribs the next day). Congratulations for winning the tickets, I’m glad you had a great time!!
peanutbutterfingers says
Oh my gosh! I love her. That’s amazing!
Kelly says
Awesome! Wicked it amazing!!! Keith and I saw it when it was here in Austin and we both really like it. West Side Story tickets are on sale here and I am seriously considering it. I love musicals and West Side Story is such a classic!

Wow, that’s awesome! It’s so cool being close because you can see their exact movements and expressions. I was in front for Lion King and that was amazing, totally a great experience to see people move that way!
Have a great day 🙂

What a fun Friday night!!! Wicked is coming to my town next spring I believe, I have to see it!
Also, I tried a homemade breakfast sandwich and added jam to it after seeing it on your blog – you are a genius. 😉

I squealed a bit when I noticed that you added jelly to your eggs! I do the same thing and you’re the first person I’ve seen who does it! If you like ketchup, add just a bit. that’s my preferred combo!
