Late this afternoon I heard some wonderful news from my dad. He was in town for work and had the evening free to spend with me and Ryan!
After work, Ryan and I took Sadie on 40-minute walk before heading to Maitland to meet my dad and one of his colleagues at Sam Snead’s for dinner.
We arrived around 7 p.m. and started the evening with a round of drinks. I opted for a glass of Riesling which I enjoyed as we chatted and waited for our appetizers.
When the appetizers arrived, I dug right into a crab cake that was full of lump crab meat. I ate about 3/4 of it (I was supposed to be sharing) before nabbing a large shrimp from the shrimp cocktail.
For my entrée, I opted for the cobb salad which came with lots of toppings, my favorite being the avocado.
I cleaned my plate!
We had a great dinner with some very amusing conversation. Stay tuned for a post based around our dinner talk tomorrow. I’m anxious to hear your opinions!
Almost time for bed…
P.S. The Fashion page was finally updated this evening!
Everything is better with avocado! 🙂 Curious to see what the conversation was all about!
surprises like that are always nice! glad you & ryan enjoyed your dinner date with dad! 🙂
I can’t remember the last time I’ve had a real, delicious crab cake. I need to remedy that. Stat. 🙂
All of this food looks so good! Cobb salads have my heart…all the toppings!
P.S. Cute outfit!
I’m glad you had a good night with your dad and Ryan!! My dad and boyfriend are actually my two favorite dinner dates. I’m glad they get along!
Riesling is always a good choice prior to appetizers !!! 😉
I love me some cobb salad! So glad you were able to have dinner with your dad!
Dinner looks delish! I always order Riesling, it’s my favorite type of wine.
I tried a crab cake for the first time a couple of weeks ago and fell in LOVE! They’re amazing! Glad you had a great night 🙂
LOOOOOOOOVE crab cakes! I just had some at Bonefish Grill on Saturday night. Nothing is quite as good as crabcakes eaten in Maryland though 🙂
My dad always says the same thing. 🙂
Dinner looks amazing!!! I miss Sadie! 🙂 I have a funny story for you. My boyfriend and I absolutely have fallen in love with the vizsla breed and every time I get my google reader open he runs over and asks “puppy pictures?!” and just loves seeing Sadie!! Well now we are on Spring Break and you posted a few Sadie pictures that were adorable and he calls me on the phone and says “I looked at puppy pictures today!” and I was like “really? Sadie pictures?” and he was like “yeah I typed in peanut butter fingers into google and found it!”
Oh goodness he is so adorable!! So obviously you can tell what dog we are getting out of college 🙂
Awww!
You better send me puppy pictures when you get one!!
Of course you will be the first one I send them too!! In fact I would probably tweet the pictures to you as we choose one. I would send via text but I obviously don’t have your number haha! It’ll be a few years but I’m sure you’ll still be around blogging for sure! 😀
Aw, that is THE cutest story!! Your boyfriend sounds like an absolute sweetheart 🙂
Aww!! He really is!! I love this commenting system. The emails are great. I never know when there is a response on my comments! I need to figure out how to get a good commenting/reply for my blog!
I love getting a Cobb Salad — for the avocado! I just had one tonight and it was lovely.

I love Riesling, its the perfect wine for a dinner out, sometimes the red wine is better on the weekend , at least for me!
Love your salad, it looks good!
You get me a wee bit jealous every time you post about fresh Gulf seafood. I can handle it though, so keep it coming.
I’ve never heard of Sam Snead’s but the food looks awesome, the crab cake in particular!

I wanted to say that last night I made fish tacos, after seeing them on your blog the other day. They were SO simple to make and oh so delicious! Thanks for the inspiration!

I love fancy spontaneous weeknight dinners out. 🙂 they make me feel like I’m on vacation!
That salad looks great! I love avocados. They add so much to whatever you put them in or mix them with. I am a huge fan of crabcakes and that one looks really tasty! I can’t wait to hear what the conversation was about! 🙂
Sam Snead’s is great! I worked at the one in Sarasota for a short time. Great food!
Your crab cake looks delicious!! I love all things seafood and really wish I lived in a place where I could eat fresh seafood all the time.
mmm crab cakes 🙂
I have been enjoying Chia seeds on my hardboiled egg whites. They stick really well and give the eggs more visual appeal. (peel! lol!)
I think of you and your fun blog every time I eat Chia seeds!!
