Allyson, the instructor at my gym who teaches boot camp on Friday mornings, is legit. She clearly takes time to plan out the class beforehand so we’re rushing through various circuits that include bursts of cardio, plyometric movements and strength exercises.
It’s tough and sweaty and I’m in love.
After boot camp, I headed home, took Miss Sadie on a walk, quickly showered and meandered into the kitchen to get crackin’ on breakfast.
Breakfast
Another day, another smoothie.
Clearly I’m addicted, but I’m not sure if I’m addicted to the cold, creamy deliciousness of the smoothies or our freakin’ awesome new blender.
The Vitamix eats ice chips for dinner! Rock-hard frozen fruit is child’s play to this bad boy.
Today’s smoothie included:
- 1 c. frozen strawberries
- 1 c. milk (I used 2 percent)
- 1 tbsp. cocoa powder
- 1 packet (or scoop) cookies ‘n’ cream protein powder
- 2 pinches xanthan gum
- 1 large handful fresh spinach
Drink up, buttercup!
The Future
I sipped on this smoothie while reading through your dreams and goals for a second time in the comments section of last night’s post. I love learning more about you guys and reading about your aspirations for the future made me realize what a neat group of readers stop by Peanut Butter Fingers.
From becoming a doctor, a teacher, a reporter, a nurse and a yoga teacher to raising happy and healthy kids, your ambitions were both inspiring and diverse.
I think having goals and dreaming big is so important. But I also believe that it’s 100 percent okay not to know where it is you want to go with your life. Just knowing that you want to be happy and fulfilled is a goal in itself.
For me, my number one goal will always be a personal one. I want to have a loving family with Ryan and a house that is safe, comfortable and nurturing for children.
Professionally, my goals have jumped around a lot as I’ve grown up. I first remember dreaming of becoming a dolphin trainer.
That goal morphed into my desire to be a news anchor, which was followed by hopes of becoming a high school English teacher, then a hard-working public relations professional and now, most recently, a writer.
In 10 years, I hope to still be blogging while also writing regular freelance articles about wellness, food, fitness and how to live a healthy, active and fulfilling life.
You guys do realize what becoming a full-time blogger would mean, don’t you? You’d be my bosses! Put that one on your resume, my friends!
For those of you who share similar goals to my own, I think we should secure an office building where we can all meet up to write our hearts out, brainstorm every day and eat inordinate amounts of peanut butter. Join me, please!

I don’t have a public blog, just a ‘lil family blog I keep for my babies, but I want in on the fun, too! 🙂
Sable@SquatLikeALady says
I would love to be a writer…I’ve always wanted to be a journalist or a freelancer on the side 😉 Not FULL time because I think it’d suck the fun out of writing and creativity for me — but at least a few hours a week!
Amber K says
Hmm…sitting around eating peanut butter all day? Perfect 😉
Tina @ Faith Fitness Fun says
I have no doubt you could achieve those goals of yours. 🙂
And I’ll be there in that office. For sure!
Mary @ Bites and Bliss says
Wow, dolphin trainer, English teacher…you sure have bounced around!! I actually had the same aspiration of being a dolphin trainer..they’re just so cool!
Arlene @ Adventures in Weight Loss says
I’d love to join you in that office … as long as I have time for noveling, too. I haven’t been around as much on the healthy living blogs because I’ve been celebrating/capitalizing on my HUGE contest final … Romance Writers of America Golden Heart® competition. It’s the Oscars of unpublished romance, and I’m one of 8 in my category (contemporary series).
We all need a little romance in our lives — or a lot!
Julie @ Peanut Butter Fingers says
congratulations! that’s wonderful!

I think I always kinda wanted to be a dolphin trainer too! At one pint in my life I even wanted to be a truck driver so I could see the country. I also wanted to be a fire fighter or police woman, but I don’t do blood, guts or scary. I’m sure you’ll reach your goals!

I’m in on the blogging business office! 😀 Anywhere with plenty of pb is a good place to be! hahaha
Right now, I’m considering being either a nutritionist or personal trainer……I’ve also considered journalism, though, so I don’t exactly know where I’m headed…
Molly says
Well, since I’m in PR, I guess you’re one dream ahead of me! If you do open this office of amazingness, maybe I could move in and get the word out about all the cool things you will be doing 🙂

I remember wanting to work at Sea World when I was younger too. After watching the documentary “The Cove” it completely changed my mind about zoos, Sea World, Aquariums, swimming w/ dolphins, etc. You MUST watch this film if you haven’t already. I feel like it’s an extremely HUGE eye opener. http://www.thecovemovie.com/

living a happy fulling life is defiantly one of my dreams. I also want to have more kids (just one at the moment) and have them grow up to be independent and caring individuals. (that make a difference!
I think your goal of blogging for a living sounds like such fun!
Courtney @ Sweet Tooth, Sweet Life says
I’ll join you…just make sure there’s a kitchen in that office so I can bake for us, too.
Oh yes, and also make sure there’s an ocean nearby 😉
I’m IN!!

I have dreams that I have been afraid to follow and I am just starting to realize that I don’t want to hold myself back any longer!

My main goal in life is similar to yours in that I want to be the best wife and mom I can be and create a safe and nurturing home for my family and create wonderful memories as my parents did for me. We’re going to start tying for a baby this summer so I’m gearing up for that very important, fulfilling, and life changing goal!! 🙂

I wanted to be a dolphin trainer growing up too! I love dolphins.
But I love my job as a concierge and my goal is to be a member of Les Clef D’or. 🙂

What I love about your blog is that it’s full of nice and true stories! And we can share thoughts and stories too! Thinking of the future can be interesting but i feel like one shouldn’t wonder too much about it and just enjoy the best part of life because you never know what’s gonna happen to you!
peanutbutterfingers says
i agree 100%… and not knowing is half the fun… even if it stresses us out sometimes. 🙂

OMG, I wanted to be a dolphin trainer too! Maybe this is a common aspiration for little girls?? LOL. For career day one year in elementary school, I could decided whether I’d rather be a dolphin trainer or a teacher, so i actually wore a bathing suit under a dress and kept switching back and forth between the two! 16 or so years later, I now want to work in politics. Hahaha.
*Andrea* says
you are sooo inspiring 🙂 i hope you get a job where u can blog forever so i can read forever 😀
Amanda says
Love to hear everyone’s goals too! It really does inspire me to think about my own.
I think we are really lucky to live in a generation where graduating to new and different jobs is done regularly. Think back to our parents generation where it was one job for life! I feel really blessed to be able to try something for a few years, then if my passions or goals change, I can try something new. A great thing about gen-Y!
Allie {Cook Read Run} says
We’d be your bosses! Too funny! That’s a different way to look at things 🙂
All of your previous and future dreams look pretty fun! I hope you can become a professional blogger.
I think we all have so many interests that that’s why there’s never only one thing that we want be.

I love your future goal and I have similar goals! I’m working on becoming a Registered Dietitian but I’ve fallen in love with blogging just recently. I’d love to someday be a nutrition contributor to a magazine. Maybe you’ll become an editor for a health and fitness magazine…and you can hire me ;)!
