What better way to kick off the weekend than happy hour at a tiki hut bar on a lake?
After Ryan got off work, we drove out to Clermont to meet up with a bunch of his colleagues for happy hour at the Tiki Bar & Grill.
The bar was located outside which had everybody sweating like crazy (it was 98 degrees!), but the view made up for the heat.
Eventually we got hungry and decided to order dinner. When I walked up to the Tiki Bar, I saw a chalkboard sign announcing a new addition to the menu, a Portobello burger.
My interest was piqued!
For bar food, I was quite impressed!
Not too shabby!
After dinner, we ventured out onto the dock before for a bit before hanging out at the bar for another hour or so. Eventually the heat did us in and we headed out. It was a fun night and I’m glad I got a chance to catch up with some of Ryan’s coworkers. I haven’t seen most of them since the charity bowl-a-thon back in March.
We’re takin’ it easy for the rest of the night. It feels good to have a weekend with a relatively free agenda!
P.S. The Fashion page was updated!
Mmm, a Portobello burger. I’ve always wanted to try one, but my hubby is a meat-man, and a burger without meat isn’t a burger at all. I might try a sneak attack one of these days…
Oh that burger does look delicious! And you dressed perfectly for that hot weather, 98 degrees?! Holy moly!
I love portobello burgers – so juicy!
Enjoy your night, friend. 🙂
I always wish I loved mushrooms because portobello burgers are a mainstay on so many BBQ menus! Hope you have a great start to your weekend!
Your interest was “peaked”…or “piqued”? Sorry….but I know you’re a stickler for typos!
ah! thank you! just edited the post.
Love portobello burgers! That’s my meat-substitute of choice when my family grills up cow burgers.
Did you know the best way to keep the bottom of the bun in tact while eating a burger is to put it down on your plate upside down between bites? Apparently since the top bun is bigger it can take it better! Haha.
Oh my, the things you can learn on youtube!
What a fun evening…beautiful scenery by the water!! We are hanging out watching a movie…one of our fav ways to kick back and relax!
Happy Friday!
Oohh, I want to try a portobello burger! That is pretty impressive for a tiki bar 😀 What were you drinking? That looks like the most perfect setting for happy hour.
ohh that looks delicious and what a wonderful way to spend the evening! 🙂
That burger looks to die for!

I have been reading your blog for months now and have to finally comment because I am moving to Clermont tomorrow morning! (meaning I should be sleeping considering the movers will be here at 8:) ). My boyfriend and I will have to check this place out ASAP.
I have been looking over your posts about things to do in and around Orlando and I am SO excited to be moving there. I can’t wait to start finding my way around the area. Thanks for having such an awesome blog, I look forward to reading everyday!
That burger looks so meaty and juicy, and perfectly charred! I much prefer it when the vegetarian option is a portabello mushroom burger as opposed to one made from soy mince!
Yummy! Portobello burgers! I’ve been wanting to try making those at home for a while now, but almost forgot. Thanks for the reminder!
That burger looks soooooo good!!!! Like the above comment, I feel the NEED to try those at home!
Wow! Portobello burgers?! That sounds amazing, I’ve never seen one of those before…yummy! 🙂 The view there looks amazing- – it must be so scenic and stunning to be by the water 🙂 here in england me and my bf normally enjoy happy hour in a quaint little pub garden – still lovely, but just different 😉 have a gorgeous weekend, hope its relaxing and fun! xyx
I’m a fan of the mushroom/beef swap, but the mushroom burger oozes mushroom juice everywhere and I’m not a fan of that! Outside happy hours are the best. Too bad it’s winter in my neck of the woods
wow it’s blaaaaaaaazing hot there damn! I’m a bit jealous because in Belgium it’s cold and raining now boehoe!
Mmmm…that portabella mushroom burger looks delicious! Not bad for bar food at all! 🙂
OOsh. Eating outside in that heat. You floridians are HARD-CORE. I couldn’t do it.
I LOVE the Tiki Bar!! Our friends live off of that lake and we like to take the boat over.. so fun!
I’ve actually never tried a portobello burger! I love mushrooms, but always think that just a large mushroom won’t fill me up. Yours looks awesome though 🙂
I love portobello burgers! Looks like a fun place despite the heat.
Sounds like a perfect happy hour to me! And the food looks great!
Ok, I’m only going to tell you this because 1) I just learned this and 2) you just taught me how to correctly say Brushetta. 🙂
My annoying friend that always corrects me informed me that it is “your interest is piqued” and not “your interest is peaked.”
Normally, I wouldn’t ever correct anything but I was just SO HAPPY to see an fellow writer/editor think it was “peak” too! 🙂
Have a great weeknd!
i ALWAYS want to hear about corrections! glad to know i wasn’t the only one who missed that particular english lesson! 🙂
I’ve been wanting to try portobello burgers for a while! Glad you enjoyed yours and had fun last night! 😀
Ah, isn’t that just a wonderful start to a weekend?! Sounds perfect and fantastic.
Glad everyone’s interest was piqued by the typo, lol, but that burger looks delish!! making me hungry right now!!
Love that place. It just seems so shady when you walk up..thinking you’re not going to get good food, but it’s a fantastic surprise when the food comes out!
It looks like it was a great start to your weekend! What a cool bar to just be able to chill at.
