I am so glad you guys are as excited about this morning’s giveaway as I am! I can’t believe we’re already at 1,000+ entries. Amazing.
New Nikes
Around lunchtime today, I took a break to run to Sports Authority to hopefully pick up a new pair of my favorite running shoes since I’m getting into longer runs again as I train for the Savannah Rock ‘n’ Roll half marathon.
Sadly Sports Authority doesn’t carry my specific shoe, so I was out of luck.
I didn’t leave empty handed though!
I finally found a pair of shoes to wear to the gym on days when I focus on strength training.
(I had a gift card so they were free. Score!)
I’ve been wearing the same pair of running shoes for both running and weight training ever since last June when I bought them and figured my new running shoes will last longer if I save them for only running (once I actually buy them, of course).
Sadie thinks the hot pink is ridiculous.
She’s all about au natural running.
The shoes are super comfortable thanks to the plush Nike Comfort Footbed.
Lunch
Once I arrived home from my little errand, I fixed myself a fast lunch that included a smoothie and a toasted English muffin, topped with a bit of butter.
I actually meant to make the smoothie thin enough to slurp out of a straw, but it came out pretty thick, so it became a smoothie bowl, topped with chia seeds.
In the mix:
- 1 1/2 frozen bananas
- 1 heaping scoop chocolate protein powder
- 1 1/2 tablespoons creamy peanut butter
- 1 cup 2 percent milk
- 1 1/2 tablespoons cocoa powder
- 1 large handful fresh spinach
Inhaled!
Question of the Afternoon
- Are you loyal to a specific brand when it comes to gym shoes?
- Do you wear different gym shoes for cardio and strength training?
I am very, very loyal to Mizuno when it comes to running shoes. They’ve been fantastic running shoes and have carried me through two half marathons with minimal blisters. As far as weight training, I pick shoes based on how snazzy they look.
Cynthia (It All Changes) says
I use to only wear Asics for running and Addias for strength training. Then Asics changed the design/construction of my shoe and I was refitted with a Brooks shoe. Still on the fence about them.

Congrats on the 1,000+ entries!
I love those pink shoes; I am desperately in need of some new running shoes. I’m so cheap, that I’m going to wait until mine fall apart…:-)
Have a good weekend!

Great (and stylish) minds think alike- I bought the same exact pair in Sports Authority the other day, too! I haven’t worn them to workout in yet, but I’m excited to because they seemed sooo comfortable when I tried them on. And I LOVE the hot pink 🙂

Cute shoes. I am faithful to Brooks for running shoes! Otherwise I like sweet ass shoes for lifting and such! 🙂

Hmm… I posted this, but it didn’t show up:
I also bought the same shoes at Sports Authority on Wednesday, specifically for weight training. I typically make a point not to buy pink shoes… but they were on sale and I liked that the grey part was different than the standard styles (and they were out of the blue pair I wanted in my size). I always wear Nike for non-running athletic activities. I still can’t commit to a brand for running though. I’m currently wearing Asics and when it’s time for new ones I’ll be looking for another brand ’cause these are my least favorite ones I’ve had yet.

Those new shoes are so cute. I love the color. Your smoothies always come out looking so amazing. Mine are always a total fail. Any smoothie tips?

I just bought those shoes…wish I had a gift card! I love them! Super comfy!

hahhaa au natural running, so funny! I like your shoes, they’re really purty! if it were ALLL PINK it’d be too much, but the grey makes it betta 😉 I usually buy adidas, but anything that fits the bill and calls out to me at the time hehe
Amanda @ Let Me Be Whats Underneath says
I love these sneaks…the pink makes them even better!
I wear Nikes currently when running, and I love them! 🙂
Emily @ Perfection Isn't Happy says
The shoes look kind of red on my computer…but I love that they are actually hot pink! So cute!

I’m not super loyal, I just stick to a few brands, NB, asics, adidas. I actually need new shoes right now, too.

I just discovered that KSwiss makes workout shoes! They are very comfortable. Maybe the best shoes I’ve ever owned for weights, cardio, plyo, you name it. I’m picky about my workout shoes. They are only allowed for working out—not for day to day wear.

Whoa, Julie, I love your blog, and I adore Sadie, but you really need to trim her nails asap! 🙂
(Nice shoes, btw;)).
Katie @ Talk Less, Say More says
My running shoes are Mizunos and only Mizunos! I’ve tried to wear others and they just don’t cut it for me. I also keep telling myself I’ll only wear mine for running and where something else for cross training and strength…hasn’t happened. oops! 😉

I like your new shoes! I’m extremely cautious when it comes to running shoes, I make a point of running with good shoes because I think it’s essential if I want to keep my knees in a good shape. As I run every day, I choose them in the intensive effort section at the shop but try to buy them on sale because it can be quite expensive.

New Balance and Nike for me. I bought a new pair a few months ago, black/pink. My hubby was like why are you wearing pink shoes. They are black with pink highlights not all pink. I was like ‘what I’m a girl I can wear pink”. He was all ‘True but you’re not a girly girl’. Not sure if I should be offended by that statment or not. LOL

In the post that you linked to, you said that you didn’t tie your running shoes tight enough and that you liked to just slip them on.
My question to you is: have you tried elastic laces on your running shoes before? I swear by them. When it came to tying my running shoes, I used to get so frustrated because they either felt too loose, or too tight (numb feet). I found these elastic laces (easy laces) at my local running shop (http://www.gazellesports.com/) and they changed my life.

I have since tried many different brands but Easy Laces are the best. You can order them here, or other places too…

Oops, I mean to include the Amazon link, too.

I just switched away from Asics for running and have been alternating between some Pumas and some Addidas. I tend to wear the same shoes for both, but that’s mostly because I don’t really run a lot…

I LOVE my new Mizuno Wave Inspires. I replaced a pair of Saucony Pro Grid Guide 4s with the Mizunos and I don’t think I will ever go back.
As far as the gym, I look for snazzy and simple.
Paula says
I love the pink on those shoes, but I won’t buy anything from Nike, due to their continued support of Michael Vick. As a dog lover, I just “won’t do it”.
Olivia says
I used to be a Nike only fan until a couple of days ago when I was out looking for new running shoes. The sales person told me to try some ascics because they have better support and i loooooovee them!
Raquel says
I have those shoes in Green. The only problem I have with them is that when I workout really hard and I sweat you can see where my feet sweat (I know gross) on the big toe area of the shoe. I think these are made for mostly indoor workouts, so I havent taken them to the streets. I use my Nike Pegasus running shoes for the outdoors.

With havin so much written content do you ever run into any problems of plagorism or copyright
