I’ll take even the tiniest bit of a chill in Florida around the holidays! It makes it feel more like the holiday season I was used to growing up in Illinois.
Our chilly evening walk took place after dinner… a very good dinner featuring bacon!
Today I went to the grocery store hungry which meant I left with an inordinate amount of chocolate, cheese and bacon. Shopping on an empty stomach always prompts me to buy anything that looks great in the moment and today that was bacon!
Tonight’s dinner centered around the bacon but also included fresh produce and creamy Chavrie goat cheese!
Ryan and I made bacon, tomato, goat cheese and arugula sandwiches on toasted honey wheat bread. (The arugula made me miss my favorite arugula, feta and watermelon salad from this summer!)
The goat cheese spread like silk on the hot, toasty bread!
Our sandwiches were served with a side of (oversalted) roasted asparagus.
As we ate dinner, I had the Mannheim Steamroller Christmas CD playing in the background which prompted Ryan to say that with our fancy-looking sandwiches and fancy music, it felt like we were eating at Panera… because that place is fancy, you know.
Off to hang with my little family!
What does chilly mean in florida?! it’s currently snowing like crazy here in michigan. HELLLLLLLLO WINTER!
wait? are you saying panera ISN’T fancy??? 🙂
haha that part had me laughing!
love mannheim steamroller!! their live album is my absolute favorite! but i have all of their christmas albums.
On hot bread….goat cheese is like creamy fairy dust fantastical MAGIC
Goat cheese and bacon! I’m sold!

sounds super yummy!! I’ll have to try this out sometime this week! I’ve already tried your ‘healthy’ chicken strips and the buffalo chicken sandwhich… Both were great! :)) I’m kinda hooked on goat cheese right now so this looks divine!! I also just worked out and haven’t eaten dinner yet so am salivating as I’m typing…haha. I haven’t had bacon in forever it’s just not something I normally crave… but now I am totally craving it!! Haha, imagine that!!
That sandwich combo sounds fantastic!
Those sandwiches look delicious! Haha and I love Ryan’s comment about Panera.
mmmm bacons my fave 🙂 I admit to always ‘caving’ and buying it at the store, whether I’m hungry or not!
Grocery shopping hungry is so dangerous but I love what you’ve done with it! And, dog walks in Uggs and sweatshirts are my favorite this time of year. I grew up in Ohio and now live in Phoenix and love when the weather breaks here.
Those sandwiches look delicious and so easy too! I love meals like that. Bacon makes everything better in my opinion! 😉
yummy! i should make BLTs at home sometime!
That sandy sounds delicious! I love super soft goat cheese as a spread.. Makes yummy grilled cheese too. And pssh, Panera totally is fancy!
I LOVE Mannheim Steamroller! I’ve got about all of their Christmas CDs, including the newest, which is pretty cool with the entire symphony orchestra 🙂
The first time I went to Panera I was pretty impressed. I’d say it’s up there on the fancy list for sandwich places for SURE!
YUM! I love goat cheese so I’ll be making that sandwich as soon as I can get to the supermarket.
Mmmm… bacon! It makes everything more delicious!
What a fun twist on a BLT, my favoriteee sandwich. I <3 bacon.
OMG that is an awesome twist on a BLT…and I have all of those things in my fridge, so that might be tomorrow lunch. I think we are wishing for opposite weather. I’m a new englander and we’re having the hottest November to date…and I’m loving it!
That sandwich looks amazing! I really love making sandwiches for dinner – roasted eggplant is my favorite dinner ‘wich. You’ve got me craving bacon now! Also love the imagery when you described how the goat cheese “spread like silk” on the bread. 🙂
Great sammie! yum 🙂
It has been too long since I have had goat cheese. Far too long!
Also…PENTATONIX!!!!! AHHHH!!!
All I’m sayin’ is chocolate-covered bacon. No questions, just do it.
Your dinner looks yummy! And your little family is so cute!
Those sammies look super yummy! I need to go buy some goat cheese asap.
Holy friggin YUM! I want that sandwich now! Totally stealing this idea 🙂
I love Panera!! ANd that goat cheese is SO yumm. Good choice 🙂
I’ve never had goat cheese. I’m going to have to snag some at the store when I go tomorrow.
UGGS in Florida?? Never would have thought!!
Yum, bacon makes everything better! I don’t know why I don’t use more soft cheeses on sandwiches, they add so much flavor.
Yum this looks so delicious!!!
Haha – love the Panera comment! Made me LOL 🙂 A little pesto smeared on top of the goat cheese would be delicious as well.
Ohh sub in some tempeh bacon and that’s my kind of sandwich!! Glad you enjoyed! 😀
Don’t you just adore how our guys can be fascinated by the tiniest things?! The sammy looks delicious!
Haha. I love the Panera comment. So sweet!!! I wonder if I could trick my husband into saying that! We had pasta tonight and I heard no mention of the Olive Garden. Perhaps I was just missing a little opera music in the background! lol
yum! Looks like I have a lunch idea for tomorrow!!
Goat cheese makes anything better. Trader Joes has the best because it is covered in cranberries…yum1
Your sandwich looks yummy, minus the bacon for me though. They were giving away Mannheim Steamroller tickets on the radio yesterday, but I didn’t win.
Yum!!! Bacon makes everything delicious! 😀
I cannot go to the store hungry, bad idea for me! lol. I love when it’s a little chilly in Florida. I’ll take what I can get even though I wish it was colder! Have you tried goat cheese and hummus on toast? Delicious!
Sandwiches look DELICIOUS. I really need to experiment more!
That sandwich looks really good! I have never had goat cheese. I really need to broaden my horizons and try it already 🙂
Omg that BAT-G (Bacon, Arugula, Tomato & Goat Cheese) sounds to DIE for! Yum! Also, I am mildly obsessed with Manheim Steamroller. Their version of Carol of the Bells kinda scares me and gets me pumped up all at the same time.
MmM that sandwich sounds goooood!
Funny, named my recent post about bacon too! Bacon kinda week 😉
goat cheese…I love. will have to try that kind you’ve got there!
yum! I love goat cheese…..i have eaten my fair share of it here in france haha 🙂 Paris is good for cheese, you know
I may have to recreate it with : D veg bacon!
I have to say, this sounds even better than the salad to me. Feta for me never holds a candle to goat cheese. I swear feta mostly tastes of salt to me, where as goat cheese is so creamy and tangy.
