We made it to the grocery store and I am happy to report that our fridge is fully stocked!
The following produce made it into our cart:
- Clementines
- Green beans
- Squash
- Carrots
- Apples
- Celery
- Spinach
- Tomatoes
- Strawberries
- Sweet potatoes
- Onions
- Bananas
It’s nice to see some color staring back at me when I open our refrigerator. After a serious sugar attack this past weekend, I’m more than ready welcome nutrient-dense foods back into my diet.
Dinner
While at the grocery store this afternoon, Ryan was intrigued by a new-to-us cut of meat that was on sale.
London broil!
We decided to pick it up and figure out how to cook it when we got home.
Some Googling directed us to a recipe from Food Network’s Dave Lieberman for a dry rubbed london broil that seemed easy enough.
Ryan prepped the meat while I prepared a side of roasted squash, topped with olive oil, garlic salt and toasted almonds.
This dinner tasted like it required a bunch of work, but it was really quite simple. Win!
The Bachelor Begins
Guess what starts up again next week?
The Bachelor!
The new season of The Bachelor kicks off on Monday night and you better believe that I am already pumped.
As usual, we’ll be discussing the ridiculousness that happens on Monday night’s episodes on the PBF Facebook page, so get ready to overanalyze the drama, my friends!
You should also know that I am going to do everything in my power to stalk Lindzi C., the bachelorette from Ocala, and make her be my friend so I can get all of the behind the scenes dirt to share with you guys. (Yes, it may be a short-lived friendship.)
My new BFF:
Get ready!
That meal looks delicious! I don’t usually watch The Bachelor–it’s not really my type of movie–but it’s really fun to read your commentary and thoughts on each episode!
i’ve never tried a london broil cut either – sure looks delicious though! ohhh man, i can’t wait for the Bachelor to start either!! i’ve missed it these last several months!
I totally thought of you the other night when I saw Gia from Jake’s season at Whole Foods! Corey was not at all enthused, but I knew you would have appreciated seeing her.
P.S.
She looked completely normal…which annoyed me because I feel like seeing a famous person in real life should have the same effect as Edward from Twilight stepping into the sun.
aw man, i would’ve LOVED it! and i agree – she should’ve sparkled.
So funny that the bachlorette lives in the same city as u!!! How random!? Btw, do you have a blogroll on your page???
here ya go: https://www.pbfingers.com/favs-2/blogroll/
My mom used to make London broil all the time—I’ve yet to make it myself! Glad it turned out for you guys!
I’ve had London Broil a few times and really like it! It’s simple and easy to make. I usually just bake it. I looove after I go grocery shopping and have my fruit and veggie drawers stocked. My favorite. I CANNOT wait for the bachelor!!
Hahahhahahaha I love that you are going to be a stalker. Please keep us updated on this. I also can’t wait for the new season! It’s so addicting…
Hahahaha hooray for the bachelor! Why is that show so incredibly addicting? Who knows. But irregardless (not even a word) I’m still watching it 🙂
Can’t wait to get the inside scoop on the bachelor!!!!!! Dinner looks awesome.
Haha. Go stalk her, girl. Heh.
Your side dish looks good!!
That looks SO yummy! I should not read your blog while hungry, hehe! Living in Austin, there are so many people that are either famous/semi-famous that I want to creep on but I try to refrain! Good luck!
I’ve never had london broil, but I heard it can be excellent when cooked correctly, so good job! I’m about to head out to the grocery store to stock up on colorful foods because I’m in desperate need of some fruits and veggies.
It’s always fun to “know” someone on TV aka be related them somehow- in your case, Ocala! Good luck becoming BFF’s, maybe you could offer her a friendship bracelet te-hehe 😛
oohh that’s a pretty fun fact! I don’t think I know anyone on TV in that way. Well, the red power ranger went to my high school lol. And the london broil looks good! I’ve never tried it, is it really tender?
yes! we loved it!
Never tried London broil but have passed by a gazillion times at the store. Guess i’m a bit of a chicken when it comes to new stuff . Can’t wait for the new season to start!!! And as i think Ocala is more of a smaller place, it’s totally possible that you could track her down, err… become friends. Hello, phonebook! 🙂 Also waiting for a new episode of New Girl to come on… i am obsessed with it!!
It’s always nice to have fresh produce! I should try the London broil for my husband – it looks like something he would like
hahaha good luck!! 😉
I love grocery shopping! lol One of my favorite things to do haha
Oooh the Bachelor!! YES. I love/hate that I got addicted to it during Jake’s season… and now my hubby is addicted to it too (though he will never admit it publicly). 🙂
Ahh I am so excited!! Ben wasn’t my favorite contestant on the Bachelorette, but I am so excited for the new season! That meal looks delicious! It’s always interesting how after overindulging during the holidays a plate of vegetables can almost be more appetizing than a plate of cookies.
LOL, love your enthusiasm about The Bachelor! Next to The Bachelor I’m super excited for American Idol to fire up another season in January!! 🙂
WetPaint.com says Lindzi is one of the final two … Not that they are necessarily correct!
We love flank steak (aka London Broil) – mom marinates it w/soy and ginger for 24hrs, then grills it … Cut very thinly on an angle….its the ONLY beef dish I eat (scary but true) !!!
My husband’s father makes AMAZING London broil, however we’ve never attempted it ourselves!
That’s so funny there’s a girl from the town you live on there! My parents are thinking about moving to Ocala and it always makes me think of you now!
i have never seen The Bachelor but can’t poke fun when i got excited over a Dance Moms ad….i have no idea WHY but it is totally a guilty pleasure
I always get sucked in to the bachelor!
Can’t wait for the bachelor! I’m seriously lacking shows at the moment.
London Broil is my favorite. My parents used to make it all the time.
I’ve never heard of London Broil but it looks delicious. I could eat squash with every meal. It’s one of my favorite veggies. I made a honey butternut squash with pecans for Christmas and it was like dessert! 🙂
Silly question but what meat is London broil??
beef!
Love the Bachelor! I can’t wait for it to start up. I seriously thought about applying to be the bachelorette hahah
Cant wait for the bachelor!! My sister was on the show so I got tons of inside scoop the year she was on (with Jake) – I am curious about this one… http://abc.go.com/shows/the-bachelor/bachelorette-announcement/ThemeGallery/897373
Yummy! This looks delish 😀
I thought about you when I saw she was from Ocala. Go find her and make her tell you everything! 🙂
There is nothing like a show like the Bachelor to boost my self-esteem; it’s like watching a train wreck in slow motion with some of those girls…pure entertainment!
MM my mouth is watering at your produce list. Clearly my body is needing less Christmas food, more healthy food!!
So I just went to the Bachelor website to look through all the bachelorettes’ profiles…is this for real??
http://abc.go.com/shows/the-bachelor/bachelorette-announcement/ThemeGallery/897373
That should make night one veryyy interesting!
i know!!!
Shut up, you like the Bachelor, too? We may have to have a weekly Bachelor party seeing as Beau can’t stand me watching it! ( I watch it with his mom lol) And I am pretty upset that I did not know there was an Ocalan on the show?! So excited!
ahhh! i know!! so much to discuss. 🙂 i had someone tell me that she apparently ISN’T from ocala, though the show’s website says she is? mysterious!
Ugh! What a fake! haha
