Last night Ryan and I saw The Hunger Games!
We both really liked it a lot.
I read the book more than a year ago which I think was a good thing because I forgot a lot about the book other than the main plotline, so I wasn’t a very critical movie-watcher.
Still, I went in with high expectations since I thought the book was suspenseful, full of emotion and well written. In my opinion, the movie was captivating and the two hours and 20 minutes in the theater flew by! I thought that Jennifer Lawrence, the actress who played the part of the female heroine Katniss, did a phenomenal job! Now I’m anxiously awaiting the debut of Catching Fire!
When the movie let out, we swung by the grocery store for a little something to satisfy our sweet tooth.
Have any of you tried So Delicious coconut milk cookie dough ice cream?
I tried it for the first time a few months ago when my sister’s boyfriend bought it and thought it was awesome! I am a huge coconut lover, so it was right up my alley. The cookie dough chunks are huge and there is a chocolate ribbon throughout the ice cream that is crunchy and decadent.
Unfortunately it’s super expensive so we never buy it, but yesterday the little pints were buy one, get one free. Woop!
We picked up a few more things at Publix things before heading home.
Check out our total…
$20.12!
2012, baby! Pretty cool, huh?
I had one of my 1492 moments with the cashier. I mean how often does someone’s total equal the year that they’re currently living in? Probably not that often. Definitely worthy of a little excitement, I’d say.
Workout
Today’s workout was a five mile run with crazy Sadie.
Our neighbors are currently banding together to put on a neighborhood-wide garage sale, so our run included a lot of car-dodging.
Very safe, I assure you.
Breakfast
When we came home, I quickly showered and got to work in the kitchen, making myself a fantastic breakfast.
I filled my plate with two toasted Vans multigrain waffles and topped them with a mixture of ricotta cheese and cottage cheese, fresh strawberries and a little too much cinnamon.
Inhaled!
Off to enjoy my Saturday!
Ryan and I have plans for a mid-day date. I’m thrilled to have a low key weekend at home for once. We haven’t had a weekend at home in Ocala with just our little trio since before Valentine’s Day!
Glad to hear the Hunger Games movie was great! I’m waiting til next weekend to see it with my boyfriend and I don’t know how I’m going to make it that long.
And I must tell you Sadie’s caption about almost getting clipped had me cracking up.
Have a great Saturday!
First, your Sadie pics/captions almost always give me a good laugh in the morning :). Second, I also haven’t read the book for a while, so I’m glad you said that and I think you’re right about being able to be less critical and enjoy it more – I’m hopefully going to see it this afternoon!
I totally agree with you about the Sadie photos! I’m loving the Sadie photos! Julie always seems to have the perfect caption for her…after reading her blog for so long I’ve noticed just HOW perfect those captions are.
I think waffles will be on my menu tomorrow 🙂
So funny you said that about not being critical, I told my husband the same thing yesterday – I also read it a year ago and do not remember a lot of the details so won;;t be over critical like some people are being! We are going tonight 🙂
Glad to hear you liked the movie! It’s been awhile since I read the book, too, and I was thinking about re-reading it before I see the movie, but I like your point about not being a critical movie-watcher that way. Looks like a fantastic breakfast. Enjoy your day with Ryan!
Ahhh I can’t wait to see it! And that ice cream sounds amazing! I love coconut too, I haven’t tried anything but their milk though!
Sounds like a great day- give Sadie some extra loving for being your brave running partner 🙂
That’s awesome about the 2012 receipt — I always get excited when my receipt is even, like $32 or $29. That feels a little like magic.
You lie!! There is never such a thing as too much cinnamon. 😉
I agree about the cinnamon! YUM!
Hahah that’s the exact same thing I thought when I read that! One can never have too much cinnamon!!
I love your Sadie pictures & captions! They always make me laugh! She is such a little cutie
That breakfast does look good. I am having fresh strawberries this morning too.
Sadie looks great in that pic. Love the angle!
And I get excited about receipts liket that too! Thought I was the only one… neato.
I saw the Hunger Games last night too! I thought it was great, although there was a couple of things that I wish they would have added into the movie.
Your breakfast looks great!
I got the So Delicious Mocha Almond Fudge the other night, HOLY good!!!!!!
Have a great weekend Julie! We are also having a low key, no plans weekend at home. We haven’t had one in ages so I know how you feel!! We had a nice long walk with our dog this morning, a nice non rushed trip to the grocery store and iced coffee on the way home. Its the little things in life that make me happy. 🙂
The pictures and captions you post of Sadie are so funny. Seriously, I am always laughing at those photos! WE WANT MORE SADIE PHOTOS!! (or at least I do) I’m sure her ego just grew in size and she got a little more cocky 😉
I completely agree!!!
The pictures and captions you post of Sadie are so funny. Seriously, I am always laughing at those photos! WE WANT MORE SADIE PHOTOS!! (or at least I do)
Also, I’m sure her ego just grew in size after that comment and she got a little more cocky 😉
i agree with kate – the sadie photos are hilarious! they put a smile on my face all the time 🙂
have a great mid-day date today! happy saturday 🙂
WHOA! That coconut milk cookie dough ice cream looks AMAZING!!! I’ll need to hunt it down here in the UK asap!! Happy saturday!
I’m seeing HG tomorrow, and I am a little too excited for it. I’ve heard only good things, so I’m expecting it to be great!
Haha that picture and caption of Sadie had be laughing! Breakfast looks yummy!
Is that ice cream not the BEST?!! I make my husband take me to get it late night from the grocery ALL the time 🙂 I love that stuff- especially since I have to eat a gluten free diet. If only it were cheaper! I am determined to figure out how to make it myself one day
I can not wait to see the hunger games! hopefully this week!
Might I add that the sadie comment bubble made me laugh out loud! Great way to start my day!
I saw those pints of ice cream at my grocery store for the first time and almost bought one! Now I will have to pick some up since they got a good review! 🙂 Enjoy your day!
I’m going to see it tonight and I can’t wait!! 8 1/2 more hours….
YUM, your breakfast looks amazing!!!!
And I cannot WAIT to see the Hunger Games, it’s one of my favorite books of all time!
I saw Hunger Games yesterday too and loooovvvveeed it! SO good. I was impressed with how they did it all, for sure. You’re right–she did do a great job with the acting!
I want some of that ice cream. RIGHT now. And it’s only 11:30. Hah.
Poor Sadie! Glad she didn’t get clipped. LOL
I saw Hunger Games yesterday, too. Loved it! And can’t wait for the next one!
Enjoy your weekend at home!
I looove the So Delicious Coconut Milk ice creams. And the Cookie Dough flavor is one of my favorites! Yum.
I’m glad you enjoyed the movie!
You are much more observant than I am … I never would have noticed the “2012” thing on the reciept! But my husband always teases me for being the least observant person ever! 😉
we are waiting on Hunger Games. Not because I don’t want to see it, I do really bad, but I can’t stand long crazy lines and sold out theaters. Next weekend maybe. I’ve got to try the ice cream looks awesome.
I love the coconut flavor of that coconut ice cream.. YUM!
I have tickets to see it in ONE HOUR! Eeeek!
I love the So Delicious Coconut Milk ice creams. I wish they weren’t so expensive!
I agree that the actress who played Katniss did a great job – loved it! I do think that Peeta was made out to be a little more of a wuss that he was in the book, but I read the book not too long ago so I had to keep reminding myself not to compare the two because it’s rare that a movie is as good as the book!
How do you get your Garmin to read the miles, time, and pace like that?
You’re so lucky that you’ve gotten to go see The Hunger Games! That’s a movie I still want to go see.
Reading about the types of workouts you do helps give me ideas of things to try.
You and your blog are one of my sources of inspiration, keep up the great work ; )
Your linen napkin is so pretty! Where’d you get it??
p.s Am I the only person who’s not read the Hunger Games yet?
I loved the movie! I went last night, and i have to agree – the time flew by!
I cannot wait oto see The Hunger Games, the books were awesome.
Hahaha! I would totally geek out over the 2012 thing as well!!!! And I totally knew what the 14.92 thing was. Kids must not learn that rhyme anymore these days! 😉 I had a really creepy “20.12 moment” back in 2010. My mom had passed away in January of that year. The next pay period at work rolled around and I was making up my deposit slip for mine and my husband’s paychecks. The total deposit amount was $1906.57…….totally random amount, right? Not until you know that my mom’s birthday was 6/19/57……..still sends chills down my spine when I think about it!
I’m dying to see The Hunger Games! I don’t think I’ll get around to it this weekend, but maybe next?! Ah, I hope so!
Aw, my poor baby. She almost got clipped! Too funny. Her face actually fit her thoughts so well. I’m glad you protected her! Love, Mama
That ice-cream sounds sensational!! Oh if only we had it in Australia I would inhale it!!
I paid for my groceries today with a $20 bill and the change I got back was $6.66! (I’ve been a bit nervous all day that something terrible might happen)
Too much cinnamon?! No such thing 🙂
I also saw The Hunger Games last night and my friends and I, one of whom hadn’t read the book, all thought it was fantastic!
Oh goodness, I need that coconut cookie dough ice cream. I love cookie dough and I just just started to love coconut – I just bought two coconut flavored snack bars the other day!
Oh, I don’t know if I can sit for that long! I watched “The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo” and even though I loved the movie, I could barely stand it!
Hi Julie! Thanks for all the posts 🙂 — I’ve been following your blog for a while but haven’t commented yet.
Just a random thing, you seem really into Greek yogurt, but it must be adding to ur bill… have you ever thought of making your own yogurt? it’s simple n WAY cheaper.. i’d say 3 times cheaper. plus, it tastes good!!
I absolutely love their coconut milk ice cream. I’m vegan so it’s my go-to if I’m craving ice cream. 🙂 I squealed a little when I saw they were on Bogo at Publix!
Rarely will something that I read literally make me laugh out loud, but kudos to you for that adorable picture of Sadie with her speech-bubble about almost getting clipped by a car!! I LOL’d for real ;-D
I love your blog Julie, but sometimes it’s dangerous!
After reading this blog yesterday, I somehow ended up with a BIG carton of So Delicious vanilla ice cream in my cart today. LOL!
Can’t wait to try it tonight, thanks for the idea. 🙂
