Tonight’s dinner was ready in a flash!
Simple broiled salmon served with roasted Brussels sprouts and sweet potato wedges.
On occasion when I cook, I will turn on the Food Network for background noise.
I know it’s kind of weird, but simply half-listening to other people put time and effort into delicious-looking food motivates me to cook!
I don’t really pay attention to what they’re making, but today I got sucked in. The bad part about getting sucked into an episode of Paula’s Best Dishes is that all of the sudden the salmon I had broiling in the oven seemed a lot less appealing.
I wanted Paula Deen’s strawberry cream cheese-stuffed French toast!
Just look at it!
Not one to waste food, I ate my salmon (it was delicious!), but a craving for stuffed French toast is still burning inside my belly.
It may be time to make my favorite peanut butter stuffed French toast this week!
I watched her show today while I did one of your treadmill workouts! Talk about motivation. 🙂
French Toast is so soooo goood! I can’t believe egg+bread+syrup is actually delicious.
oh my goodness gracious, that french toast sure does look incredible! it’s probably a good thing i don’t have cable to watch food network… i’d want to be cooking & baking nonstop! it’s bad enough as it is. 😉
Oh my gosh that made me laugh about cooking shows in the background. I turned on Food Network this week because I just had hip surgery and have no appetite and I thought maybe just seeing delicious food would tempt me to eat-IT WORKED!
I love French toast. I use alton browns recipe. Yum!
Since it is maple syruping season here in MN, a quick question. Do you like real maple syrup or the fake stuff better?
i don’t really LOVE syrup, actually. i think it’s okay but i’m really not picky. right how we just have light syrup in our pantry, so that’s what i’m using.
Oh man!! That does look delicious. I feel you on getting some motivation from other people making delicious things. That is a huge reason I love the blog community so much!!
Browsing blogs does the same thing to me – it gets me craving what other people are making, even if I don’t really care for the food on my own volition (cough friedpickles cough)
Oh that french toast looks amazing.
We watch food network like crazy here. Guy Fieri is from where my mom lives and his parents live a few doors down from my mom, so I tend to watch him a lot. I can’t do rachael ray. She rubs me the wrong way. My favorite though is Good Eats with Alton Brown. The geek in me loves to learn!
I want to make your PB French Toast! Maybe that can be a project for me next week. I am going to make a post on my blog soon about my love/hate relationship with nut butters. God I could eat a whole tub of pb if I let myself. 🙂
Haha, I saw that same episode and definitely thought the same. I was also watching Ina Garten before that and she was making a delicious orange and chocolate pound cake….oh goodness not a good day to watch Foodnetwork! 🙂
Holy moly! That looks AMAZING. Damn you, Paula Deen.
Did you see Kristen Wiig’s portrayl of her on the last Saturday Night Live? Hilarious!
no! i need to look it up!
I was watching the same episode today and wow.. the French Toast looked amazing!
I watch the food network ALL the time when I go home – I don’t have a tv at my apartment at school because I would spend all my time watching people make and eat food rather than study 🙂
p.s. your photo got me craving some salmon!
Oh my goodness…that french toast looks amazing. I feel the same way about motivation, reading recipe blogs always makes me want to cook!
Haha! I watched that episode while at the gym (and prior to eating dinner!) and lets just say I was SERIOUSLY hungry when I arrive home!
LOL I saw that episode today too! That french toast did look amazing. Her sons are so adorable, too, I love watching them! Too bad her food is built to kill. 😛
Haha I love doing that with the food network too, though there are a couple shows that I really get into and have to watch full out, like chopped!
WHOA! YUM!
Hah. That is awesome–a cooking show might motivate me to get more serious in the cooking too…but I like my easy, healthy meals?! 🙂
It’s funny, we don’t have cable so when we were in the hospital, having the twins delivered, the tv was always on the Food Network. The nurses even asked us about our obsession with it. 😉 Man, that picture looks good especially since I love all things cream cheese.
I always avoid the Food Network unless I’m eating something tasty… it usually just makes me hungry or jealous haha.
Oh man, that stuffed french toast is making me hungry again!!
That was not very nice of you to make us crave French toast with you! Well, at least I know what’s for breakfast now! 🙂
hahah!
Oh man now I want French toast- breakfast perhaps?
To be honest, I was drooling over your delicious looking salmon rather than the french toast. But, those strawberries sure do look amazing!!
I haven’t had french toast in so long. I like it best when made with thick bread…like challah!! YUM! There is a brunch place in Austin that makes creme brulee french toast with thick slices of challah bread…it is amazing and worth every single dimple it gives me on my bootay! ha!
oh my gosh, i LOVE challah! i am still on the lookout for a bakery around here that sells amazing challah bread.
Mmm, I made PB+banana stuffed french toast for breakfast on Sunday, and it was absolutely fantastic. Although I’m sure Paula’s was wayyy better (a lot more butter and sugar always makes things way better!)
I’ve only had stuffed French toast once… at IHop… I’m certain it was about 5,000 calories of complete deliciousness.
Now that its morning, I hope to see French Toast on your breakfast post!
oh it’s there, baby! 😀
You know that anything by Paula Deen is going to be delicous! High in fat and calories … but delicious!! 🙂
Yo, Paula has a recipe for peanut butter stuffed french toast, and it’s actually really basic. And awesome.
basically: make a PB sandwich. French toast-ify the whole sandwich in eggs/milk/vanilla, fry in butter, roll edges in granola (!!!), then finish off in the oven for 10 min (350?).
…and now I’m immediately regretting my cereal for breakfast.
that sounds incredible!
Sounds amazing!! Haha that happens to me all the time 🙂
That French toast looks awesome!
It’s going to be 75 degrees here in ChicagoLand today, so I’m making salmon on the grill tonight!!
Now I want french toast, too! I watch her show most Saturdays. It has been known to do one of 2 things: inspire a workout, or inspire a delicious meal.
Paula used to come on at the same time I went to the gym, so while I was running, I watched her cook decadent, buttery, delicious things. It was torture!
Your dinner looks great! I love roasted brussels sprouts and sweet potatoes. 🙂
