Yesterday I attended my first Tampa Bay Rays baseball game!
It was a great game to go to because it was not only the season opener, but they were playing this little start-up team called the Yankees. Maybe you’ve heard of them?
Ryan and I went to the game with my parents and arrived a few hours early to tailgate and enjoy a block party outside of Tropicana Field.
Do you like my beads? I worked hard for those… but not Mardi Gras hard, if ya know what I mean.
The game started a little after 3 p.m. and was a fun one to watch. We even got to see one of the Rays players (Pena) hit a grand slam which was absolutely insane. The crowd went crazy!
Attending a baseball game must include ballpark snacks and we made sure to get some food after watching the game for a bit.
Healthy eats were hard to find at the game, so a basket of chicken fingers and fries satisfied my hunger.
And lots of peanuts, of course!
The Rays ended up winning which was just icing on the cake after a fun afternoon!
On our way home we stopped by Yogurtology for frozen yogurt to tide us over until dinner.
We spent the rest of the evening at my parents’ house, chatting over a home cooked meal with my family.
Now we’re getting ready to dig into a breakfast (I made my banana pecan coconut baked oatmeal for everyone), before hitting the road for Sarasota to spend the night at my mother-in-law’s house. If you’re looking for a healthy and easy breakfast dish to make for a big gang this weekend, a big batch of baked oatmeal is the way to go! Our house smells fantastic.
See ya in a bit!
Glad you had fun at your first Rays game! Hope you make it to another 🙂 And I love your dress!
Sounds like such a fun date night. I love your dress, you always look so cute.
Oh I still need to try your baked oatmeal!! It sounds really good 🙂 looks like the game was great fun. I love attending baseball and ice hockey games. For some reason I love real games but am not a fan of sports on TV.
Have a fantastic weekend!
Ahhhhh! I was at the game too! We are down here from Ohio visiting my father in law. What a great game! Can’t believe you were there too! Enjoy time with your family!
Sounds like a great start to the long weekend- hope the rest of it is fun 🙂
I love baseball (Cubs fan all the way) but have never been to opening day. Glad you had a great start to your weekend, a great first day–and a win, to top it all off!
Is that an indoor baseball stadium? Never seen that before. I loove baseball games and cannot attend without a hot dog and a beer. 🙂
I love baseball season, although I’m a Phillies fan! Baseball games = summertime to me!
I’ve been to a few Rays games, but never got to see the Yankees play them! Also – I’ve never seen a grand slam and always joke to my husband saying live baseball games are a little on the boring side….so it’s great to hear you had a great time! 🙂
Sounds like such a fun day with your family! 🙂
We’re going to the Ranger’s vs. White Sox game tonight!! So much fun 🙂
Looks like you had a great time! I have to bring Anthony to a baseball game – he’s never been, even though he’s lived in the states for two years! We’re leaving for Australia tomorrow, so I suppose it will have to wait.
Looks like such a fun game for your first Rays experience and I’m am SOOO glad they beat the Yankees!!
I’m jealous of your warm weather for froyo – we don’t have that luxury yet in Mass 🙂 Have a great Easter weekend!
I LOVE baseball season! What a great way to spend the holiday weekend with your family.
what a fun time!! enjoy your weekend with the family! 🙂
Looks like fun! I think I’ve only been to 3 baseball games in my life and to be very honest, I haven’t a clue what the rules etc are – kind of like football! But nevertheless, the live sport atmosphere is still so much fun. Safe travels!
I love your sunglasses! Where did you get them? I am in need of a new pair.
I love going to sports games, the crowd and energy make it so fun! ahhh and I love chicken fingers, those look so good!
Healthy eats are definitely hard to find at the game, but most ballparks allow you to bring in food and sealed beverages. It’s a little unknown fact. You can save money and calories but bringing sandwiches and chips than overindulging on park food!
What a fun weekend! I love going to baseball games but hate watching them on tv. I think it’s the great atmosphere that gets me!
That’s so awesome that you got to see a grand slam – sounds like a blast! Have a safe drive and enjoy your family-filled weekend!
PS Love your outfit for the baseball game – so cute!
Baseball games are so fun to go to! Glad you enjoyed your first one!
But, as a Yankees fan, I must say that I’m disappointed by the outcome of the game :/
Looks like you had fun! Those chicken fingers look delightful 🙂
I can’t wait to get to a baseball game this season! I have to say – one of the main reasons I like watching baseball is because there’s lots of down-time to just relax and chat 🙂
That sounds like so much fun!! I’m not a baseball fan when it comes to watching it on tv, but going to an actual game is so much better! Enjoy your time with your family!!
Fun!! I went to a Cubs’ game last summer with my husband, and I was surprised at what a good time I had! I don’t typically watch baseball on TV, but it’s a lot more fun in person! 🙂
MLB games are so fun in person! I miss living 10 minutes from the pro stadium.
I really like the Tampa stadium. We went to a game there a few years ago. Love how close you can get to the action!
Nice! And you seemed to have a wonderful weather too, really enjoyable!
Baseball games are so much fun!
Very solid..no better way to spend an afternoon then at the yard…glad you experienced the Trop…and Ryan and the Rays can thank my Cubbies for letting Pena go this year so he can finish his career when it began
So this has nothing to do with anything really but have you seen that there is a peanut butter and jelly flavored vodka out now?? I saw it (pretty bottle, btw) and thought you needed to be alerted haha
woohoo if you ever wanna see a yankees game in NYC feel free to come visit 🙂
oh mang~I was just craving oats and you just reinforced that craving 😛 What a fun day, guys! Have a happy EASTER Julie!!!
I have friends in Miami and they were telling me their new ballpark is awesome. Lot’s of Florida style in the architecture and colors. I hope they put something together like that for the folks in Tampa too.
Loved your dress! So cute!
I think we need a fashion update!!! You look so cute.
You guys always look like you have so much fun, no matter what you’re doing.
Love reading about your adventures:)

From the looks of your photos, I think we were sitting near each other! Hope you had fun!
