It was the perfect day for a day at the beach.
A wonderful holiday coupled with sunny weather meant we had to make it out to the ocean.
Ryan and I have been meaning to check out Ponce Inlet, a small beach located just south of Daytona Beach, ever since we read that they allow dogs on the beach.
After an early lunch, we packed up our bags and drove the nearly 90 minutes to the beach with Sadie in tow.
Sadie was awfully happy to be included. Just look at her happy little face!
While I set up our beach chairs, Ryan got to work building Sadie a shady fort so she could take a break from the sun if she needed to escape the heat.
(And no, we don’t own a beach umbrella. That would be way too easy.)
Even though Ryan’s shade fort was pretty awesome, Sadie didn’t use it for more than a minute.
There were fish to chase…
Big sticks to catch…
And me and Ryan to harass…
(Yes, I totally planned for my headband and bikini to be red, white and blue.)
We now have one pooped little puppy on our hands.
Dinner
When we got home from the beach, Ryan and I were really hungry. We initially wanted to grill out, but neither of us wanted to wait for the grill to heat up, so a one pot meal did the trick.
I ate an apple while preparing dinner which helped take the edge off.
In my bowl:
- Apple chicken sausage
- Quinoa
- Cauliflower
- Zucchini
- Squash
- Olive oil
Some rather ominous clouds are rolling in right now and thunderstorms are expected this evening, so I’m happy we got outside when we did.
Off to crash on the couch!
I hope to do some baking tonight as well… Apple crisp, perhaps?
I wish I could have gone to the beach today but I opted for the pool 🙂
i feel like i have to be in the right mindset for the beach… all the sand, crowds, etc. many times the pool is the best option! 🙂
Such a cute bikini Julie! Glad you guys had fun- Sadie looks she had the best time!
Aw wish I lived near the beach. Yum!! Apple crisp?!! I can email you my moms recipe if you want, it’s incredible!!:)
You look cute (and so patriotic)! What a fun day 🙂
Who says apple crisp is only for fall? However, come fall when they are available, nothing beats Jonathan apples in apple crisp. Give them a try! You’ll thank me. Promise.
ahhh your bikini is supa cute and adorable! It’s so weird hearing that your day is nearing the end~since we’re like, 2-3 hours apart here in socal. 😀 Ours is just starting! (well, the fun, that is)
I baked some peach crumble bars this afternoon that are amazing. Apple pie or crisp will have to be my next fruity dessert to make!
You look awesome! Glad you had such a fun holiday! Sadie is PRECIOUS.
Looks like an awesome day at the beach, although I can almost promise that Sadie had the most fun of all 🙂
I love the beach!! I’m glad going to the new beach turned out so great!! Last time we did that it was a rocky and buggy beach.. total bummer!!
happy 4th doll.
Seems like a great fourth! Especially for Sadie with the sticks 🙂
Love the red, white and blue you have going on! 😉 And I love seeing the pictures of Sadie … she’s such a happy puppy!
Aw… Sadie looks so happy! I’d love to see what my guys would do in the ocean. They’ve only ever been swimming in a pool!
wow, your vizsla is much braver than mine in the water! we just went to the beach this weekend & he ran far away from the waves lol. happy 4th!!
I love the beach! Will be in FL in 7 weeks, we are so excited.
I want to buy Ryan a rozor for his body hair! Yes I have a weird thing with male body hair, I cannot handle even seeing it in pics. Hey we shave our legs often, they should shave their gross curly cues! 😉
Where is you’re swimsuit from? It’s so cute!!
thank you! victoria’s secret – but it’s from a couple of years ago. 🙂
Echoing a lot of the above comments – that bikini is adorable! Delightfully festive 😀
I’m rather impressed with Ryan’s fort building skills!
I love the homemade shade fort for Sadie!! Looks like she had LOTS of fun at the beach but she seems to be happy where ever she goes!!
Love your bikini! Too cute!!
There are so many things I love about this post.. a.) your bikini is adorable, b.) Sadie may just be one of the cutest dogs, EVER, c.) I can’t help but laugh at her “fort’, it’s too funny.. but hey at least it got the job done :), and c.) your dinner looks so good!!
So glad you and your family had a wonderful 4th of July!
This looks like such a fun day! Happy 4th! And I love your bikini!
Oh what a perfect day! LOVE the bikini and the red, white, and blue ensemble. I would’ve done something similar too 😉
Apple crisp sounds yummy!
Love the red, white & blue :)!
woowww look at that body!!! work it girrrl 🙂
Looks like such a fun 4th! I love the fort that Ryan made for Sadie! 🙂
Well you COULD have visited there when I was literally like 5 mins away. Haha! 😉
Looks like a fabulous beach day! There is nothing better than that! Hope you had a happy fourth!
Looks like a fun day! Sadie looks so happy!
aw sadie looks like she had the best day ever! P.s. I love your bathing suit!
from the looks of sadie’s fun in the sun we’ll have to check out that beach with our dogs! ( i’ve lived here my whole life and never heard of it). hehe! your one bowl meal sounds like a quick and easy + healthy go to … can’t wait to try that one! 🙂
just a head’s up – it’s actually an “on leash” dog park, but some of the locals told us to keep walking down the beach, through some of the brush where you can let them off leash w/o getting in trouble. 🙂 just FYI, in case you were excited about the off leash pictures!
I have never felt the need to use a beach umbrella, until yesterday whenwer took our dog to the beach. He gets heated so easily so I told the boyfriend we needed to get one. We had to go to 3 stores but we managed to get the last one at cvs for only $24, and our pit loved it.
Love the pictures!! Looks like you guys had a great holiday! And don’t think the Little Mermaid beach towel escaped me…I loved that addition 🙂
I have to laugh because we bought some Apple Chicken Sausage this week and I tried them in eggs this morning. We decided the flavor wasnt the greatest with eggs so I will have to try this recipe!
Julie, I literally admire your abs. A girl can dream! Adorable pictures of Sadie:)
Looks like a great way to spend the holiday!
Julie you have such a rocking bod! It’s comforting to know that having the occasional treat doesn’t ruin your figure- something I am still trying to come to grasps with.
You’re in unreal shape! As is your hubby…and your dog 🙂
