When we arrived home from yesterday’s indoor triathlon, Ryan and I were on a workout high. Neither of us felt like relaxing just yet and since we were amped, we decided to head out and run some errands.
Last Sunday we went through a ton of stuff in our house and ended up with several bags of unwanted clothes, shoes and accessories. Our first stop was to Plato’s Closet, to see if we could sell anything to the consignment shop before taking everything to Goodwill.
Since the crowds were pretty intense yesterday, we were told it would be about an hour until they had a chance to look through all of our stuff. To waste some time, Ryan decided to get a haircut at the Hair Cuttery down the way while I wandered into TJMaxx. Ryan joined me after his haircut and we had no problem killing time there!
It seems like stores like TJMaxx and Marshalls are very hit or miss, and yesterday the TJMaxx in Ocala was definitely a hit.
$10!
I actually didn’t end up getting that clutch because I stumbled upon a yellow clutch that I liked more and figured one clutch was enough for the day.
The yellow clutch was roomier and I loved the way it folded over. Very fun!
When Ryan and I met up at the check out line, he was a happy camper because he found a new sleeping bag that is ideal for temperatures below 30 degrees which will work for his annual guys’ hiking trips.
Check out my loot of the day!
I’m not sure if I will end up keeping the lace shirt you see in front. I need to try it on with a tank top underneath to see how it looks, but I really do love it. If any of you have suggestions on how to make it look both appropriate and cute, please teach me your ways.
Dinner
Before driving home for the night, Ryan and I agreed that sushi sounded delicious and decided to go on a little date to Grace Japanese Steakhouse.
I started my meal with miso soup and shared edamame with Ryan.
For my main meal, I ordered a Florida roll which came wrapped in miso paper (I think?) instead of the traditional seaweed. It was good, but I prefer the taste of the seaweed.
I also had a Bonzai roll that included cucumber, crab, shrimp and masago.
I love this roll! It’s so light and refreshing.
Since the Japanese restaurant was within walking distance of Peachwave frozen yogurt, you better believe Ryan and I popped in for dessert.
Neither of us were very hungry, so we shared a cup of cheesecake and cookies ‘n’ cream frozen yogurt, topped with sprinkles, strawberries, peanut butter syrup, whipped cream and a few Reese’s.
As we were eating, Ryan and I discussed important things like our favorite frozen yogurt store rankings:
- Peachwave: Overall winner. Consistently has the best flavors.
- Yogurtology: Second place for their oatmeal cookie and red velvet flavors.
- Menchies: Best toppings.
- Mochi: Taro is my favorite.
Obviously our rankings only include the frozen yogurt shops we frequent in Florida and are really limited to what is available in Ocala, Orlando and St. Pete, as those are the cities we seem to frequent most. My fellow frozen yogurt fans, are we missing out on a fabulous frozen yogurt shop somewhere?
Amanda says
Red Mango for SURE! All natural, gluten-free, no artificial sweeteners or colors. Yogurtland and Peachwave are also both made from a powdered mix, yucky aftertaste in my opinion. :/
Amber K says
I miss Red Mango!! They moved a couple of years ago and now we don’t have any in Oregon. Boo!
Megan S says
Hi Julie, have you ever tried Rita’s Italian Ice? There are a few locations in FL. http://www.ritasice.com They have over 60 flavors of Ice! It’s super yummy! I suggest a Gelati, it’s Ice and Custard! 🙂
Brooke Guevara says
1. Pinkberry – has the best original or tart flavor
2. Red Mango – all natural, all amazing
3. Menchies – most flavor and topping selection
we frequent menchies most often because its only 10 minutes from our house..with traffic..and I’m walking frequent multiple times a week (; They also offer a great card called smileage which gives you $5 off for every $50 you spend.

Ready Set Yo is a new froyo store near St. Pete
Ellie@Fit for the Soul says
I love that yellow clutch you got! It seems to be a somewhat mustard-ish hue? That’s one of my fave fashion colors 😀 And omgness! I tried Menchie’s for the first time a few weeks ago…and the second I stepped in there I KNEW it would become one of my fave places. Everything is so cute and packed with great stuff! So many delish choices as well as the Waffle Wednesday offer. Can you tell I like this place? 😉
Stephanie says
Yogurtland in south florida is the best. Their fro-yo is always super cold and creamy 🙂
Kaycee says
I’m not sure where all they have locations, but you should definitely find your closest Tasti D-Lite! They have over 100 flavors, most of which are 70 calories per 4 ounces. You can mix any of the serve-it-yourself flavors of the day they have, or they can make ANY of the flavors for you behind the counter- you can even create your own flavor! It’s wonderful! (cinnamon crunch is my fave so far) 🙂
Kelly says
Love your TJMaxx loot!
Yogurtland! Their Red Velvet Cupcake Batter is delicious. Went a few times in LA and discovered there is one here in Austin. Froyo heaven!
kaceyt says
Congrats on your triathlon! I’m doing my first sprint tri around the first of September and I’m super nervous!
You TJMaxx finds are too cute…I love all the lace that’s everywhere right now. Your tank would be great with a thin off-white tank underneath or maybe a tube top depending on when/where you wanted to wear it!
Gina says
1. Red Mango
2. Moo Moos ( local )
3. Public Froyo – 2 for $7 right now! You must try Chocolate Chip Espresso & Key Lime Pie. YUM!
Allison @ Running Through Red Lights says
My husband and I live in the Middle-of-Nowhere, Wisconsin and two fro-yo places have opened within 45 minutes of where we live. We’ve made trips specifically for dinner and fro-yo twice, and it’s been worth the drive every time!
Karen says
Oh my gosh! They have Peachwave here in Oregon too, and it is absolutely fantastic! I think it is by far the best froyo I’ve ever had. They have cupcake and cheesecake flavors that are incredible. For some reason Peachwave has a much creamier texture and more flavorful yogurt than anywhere else.
Christina @ The Beautiful Balance says
A bandeau underneath the top will be perfect. I would say nude or white 🙂
Emily says
Peachwave is where it’s at. My current fave combo is peanut butter yogurt and coffee yogurt with reeses pieces on top!
@pluvk says
We only have one frozen yogurt place in my neighborhood, so that one WINS!! 🙂
I love the shopping haul! Try the top with a cute vest that covers the important areas, or wear it over a tank top that’s a contrasting color like purple or teal.
Lindsay and Timothy @ Fit with Farrar says
That is so cool that you all have so many frozen yogurt options!! All we have around our area is a Sweet Frog – still yummy, though 🙂
Alex @ Brain, Body, Because says
Everyone says to wear a tank top beneath that lacey shirt, but I was actually thinking it’d be cute layered on top of a collared shirt, like this: http://lowcarbhighstyle.files.wordpress.com/2011/05/013.jpg
Meghan says
Definitely my favorite frozen yogurt place is called HighFive in Florida! We went to one on UCF’s campus and my entire track team fell in love!
I’d say wearing the lace tank with a bandeau and a cardigan would make it casually appropriate for going out to lunch with friends and such, but I don’t think you could dress it up a lot simply because it’s meant to be a light summer tank for concerts (another good place to wear it!).
Amanda says
Oh man, I can’t even get started on all the froyo places that have popped up in NJ/NY in the last few months. The front runners are definitely CUPS and Let’s Yo!….we change up the leader based on flavor choices 🙂 Let’s Yo! also lets you mix your froyo in a cup and blend it with your toppings like a McFlurry that you can pretend is healthy!!
Vikki says
CUPS is the best!!! ahh, so good! Wicked Twist is great as well, but I don’t think it’s a chain yet 🙁
I’ll definitely look into Let’s Yo! though, that sounds awesome!
Karen says
I absolutely love love love love Pinkberry! you must try it, they always have the freshest flavors and the most perfectly ripe fruit!
Raquel says
If you ever come to NJ, you have to try CUPS. It is delish and they have a beachy/nightclub vibe, very NJ! haha
kyla says
That looks like pink soy wrapper! I work at a sushi restaurant and it looks pretty similar to what we have on one of our rolls.
Christa says
There’s a new place that just opened up where I live called Fuse. It has fro-yo , sorbet, and gelato all self serve. They have a caramel sea salt gelato that would easily be my last meal on earth 🙂
Shannon @ Polish and Sugar says
There is a place in Toronto (not sure where the chain originates from) called Yogurty’s and they are my favourite because they have Greek Yogourt fro-yo! It’s a bonus when a sweet fix can be fat free 🙂
Kellie says
16 Handles! When I was interning in New York, I went there at least three times per week. They have amazing flavors and toppings. Now that I’m back in Ohio, I miss that heavenly froyo more than I can explain!
P.S. I clearly take my dessert too seriously.
Cathy says
For your lace tank try it over a slim fitting v-back long sleeve sweater. Would offer a nice contrast as the weather starts to turn. Maybe a deep plum to contrast with what looks like orange piping on the edges.
Christa says
I appreciate that you always dress so tastefully! It’s so refreshing!
