Since our neighborhood was quite the hot spot for trick-or-treaters last year, Ryan and I are well prepared with tons of chocolate to giveaway this evening.
Pumpkin Dog is prepared to keep a close watch to make sure no funny business goes down.
I figured I would make a big pot of soup for lunch that Ryan and I can easily reheat for dinner this evening. We’re thinking about hanging out on our front porch with our candy and a bottle of wine since it’s supposed to be nice and chilly this evening, and I figured soup would be the perfect porch dinner!
I cooked up a batch of Harry & David potato corn chowder using the mix that I bought when I was in Oregon and added a bunch of chicken to the base for a punch of protein.
The soup was incredibly flavorful and satisfying and I’m looking forward to eating it again tonight. Let’s just hope it passes the Soup Hater’s test.
And now it’s giveaway time!
New Balance 860s Lace Up for the Cure Giveaway
Ready to win a new pair of shoes!?
As I’m sure you’ve noticed from the plethora of pink that has popped up this month, October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month and I have a fun pink-related giveaway for you guys today!
If you’ve been reading this blog for a while now, you know that my mom is a breast cancer survivor.
She was diagnosed with breast cancer in October 2008, underwent surgery (she had a double mastectomy), chemotherapy and radiation and now, with every scan that comes back cancer-free, our family breathes a sigh of relief. We all feel so lucky that my mom found the lump in her breast through self-exam and sought treatment when she did.
When New Balance reached out to me about their Lace Up for the Cure® Collection, I was happy to learn about their pledge to donate 5 percent of the suggested retail price of sales from their Lace Up for the Cure Collection (with a guaranteed minimum donation of $500,000) to Susan G. Komen for the Cure® in 2012.
The Lace Up for the Cure® Collection is available year-round and includes sneakers, zip ups, capris, tees, tank tops and sports bras. My two favorite items from the collection include this quarter-zip lightweight workout jacket that I wore on a hike with Ryan and Sadie last weekend:
And these incredibly comfortable and lightweight walking shoes:
Steel gray + pink is always a winning color combination in my book and I love the ruching on the inside of the sneakers. Such a fun, feminine touch!
When New Balance approached me about hosting a giveaway, I asked them if they’d be willing to donate $1 per giveaway entry up to $1,000 to Susan G. Komen for the Cure® and they agreed!
Now you can enter this giveaway to win a pair of New Balance 860s (normally $89.99) and know that your entry is helping to raise money to support Susan G. Komen for the Cure® and their efforts to find a cure for breast cancer through research, community health outreach, advocacy and programs in more than 50 countries.
To enter this giveaway, simply comment on this post below. It’s as easy as that! And since I’d love for us to hit 1,000 giveaway entries and take advantage of the full amount New Balance has offered to donate, you can tweet something along the lines of the following for an extra entry:
- Hoping to win a pair of @NewBalance Lace Up for the Cure shoes from @PBFingers!
If you send out a tweet, please remember to comment back on this post again to tell me you did!
I will randomly select a winner on Friday, November 2.
GOOD LUCK!
