Good morning to you!
Let’s start the day off with a big breakfast sandwich, shall we?
Four steps to success: Toasted whole wheat English muffin + Cheese + 2 eggs + Avocado
So good!
Top Twitter Users in Your Area
Twitter users = Tweeters? I don’t know. Twitter is so weird.
Does anyone else feel totally lame when they talk about Twitter? Just saying “I tweeted” makes me giggle because, really, the word is just ridiculous and sounds a lot more like a nickname for flatulence than a status update of some sort.
The other day I saw a list of the top Twitter users in the word. I immediately had Ryan guess the number one tweeter and he was at a loss.
It’s the Biebs, of course!
Best buds.
According to Twitaholic, the top 10 Twitter users based on their number of followers include:
As I kept reading down the list, I said, “Who in the world is Kaka?” which made Ryan laugh because I put the emPHAsis on the wrong syllABLE. (For those of you in the dark like me, Kaká is a famous soccer player and you don’t say his name like caca. There’s an extra emphasis on the final “a.”)
Since I was already way too interested in the top Twitter users in the world, I then popped over to Tweet Grader, a website I learned about at the Central Florida Blogger and Social Media conference. The site lists the top Twitter users based on their number of followers in certain areas.
Since I don’t live in a major city with a professional sports team or anything like that, I was quite curious to see the top Twitter users in Ocala. (A photographer, Kent Weakley, and “The Brain Guy,” Doug Bench, claimed the top two spots.)
I figured some of you guys might share my amusement for odd things like this and might get a kick out of this little tool, too!
So I ask you…
- Who is the top Twitter user in your area? Have you heard of them before?

I don’t use Twitter all that much actually–but that is uber interesting the Justin Bieber was at the top. Kinda makes me laugh! hah 😉
Elisabeth says
Just say no to Twitter, Facebook, etc. 😉 Total time waster….
Laura says
Ha! I am from Stratford (where Biebs is from) and EVERY top ‘tweeter’ is a Justin Bieber fan who made fan profiles saying they are from Stratford!
Lauren says
I love twitter! At first I did want to make the switch from Facebook but once I did, I barely check my facebook now. In my area ( a very small town) the top Tweeter? Is a fancy restaurant owner. Very cool website though!
Ashlee says
Ah I had a similar breakfast sandwich recently and it was DELICIOUS! Instead of cheese I used roasted red pepper greek yogurt dip and it was soooo good!
Cassie @RedLetterDaye says
Awww, Courtney from Sweet Tooth Sweet Life was 23rd in our area. Wooo! Go Courtney!
MassachusEATS says
Oh yum, that sandwich used to be my favorite breakfast before I started eating paleo! Add a little bacon and I was in heaven! 🙂
Melissa says
I’ve actually had a twitter account since 2008, but I didn’t really start using it until last year! I actually love it for more than witty status updates – getting breaking news from your local station is actually really useful. The top “tweeter” in my area is a winery…pretty expected for living in the middle of wine country!
Michelle says
Dude – you could take those guys in a Twitter contest. Let’s make it happen. You just need like 20K more followers. NBD, right? 🙂
Amanda @ Romancing the Unusual says
I wish I was better at using twitter. It just doesn’t hold my interest like other social media (fb or instagram). Also, your breakfast looks AMAZING today!
Heather says
I’m number 10, but should be number 4. Hasn’t been updated recently apparently!
Anna says
I recently joined Twitter. I’m not going to lie… I love it! Yay, another social media obsession 🙂
Jen says
That sandwich looks delish! I may have to make that one morning this weekend! One of the top twitter users in my area is Questlove from The Roots, the others were mostly businesses.
Ellie@Fit for the Soul says
Hahaha I totally feel the same way about twitter and the word itself–it’s kind of awkward! 😛 And I don’t think anyone ever says kaka right unfortunately.
Rachel @ Undercover Diva: A Sitcom says
Ghosts & Haunts and To Write Love on Her Arms. heard of TWLOHA and not the ghost one.. bizarre!

QueenofFitness says

Hi Julie, very unrelated question…..since you have a lot of readers with knowledge and experiences can you do a call out to anyone who has EVER done ESL training or gotten resort jobs away, etc? Also, curious about South Korea (is the food HEALTHY on a daily basis)…etc..I’m trying to find experiences and legitimate sites and places to look. If anyone responds that they know stuff, maybe you can pass them along my email address? Thanks.
Caitlin says
Oh Julie, you always make me laugh!
Heidi says
I thought I was the only one who felt silly about saying “tweeted,” or anything Twitter-related for that matter! Glad to know I’m not the only one! Haha
Emily @ 2:DESIGN:CENTS says
Haha too funny! Top tweeter in my zip code is an “entrepreneur + dog lover”….pretty typical for San Diego…
Claire says
The top tweeter in my area is GlutenFreeGirl and Nordstrom. Doesn’t surprise me since the Nordstrom family lives here 🙂
Jan @ Squats n Sprouts says
Wow that breakfast sandwich looks really yummy!
Jess says
haha I had to laugh when I saw my area’s top Tweeter… Chelsea Houska from Teen Mom 2. South Dakota never fails to disappoint.
Amy H. @ Run with Perseverance says
My area’s top Twitter? Nascar. Makes sense being in Daytona Beach!
Lara says
I’m totally going to be a child and comment on the Kaka passage. I couldn’t stop laughing – enough to get my 9 year olds attention. Of course as I read it out loud to her, I continued to laugh. We both got a kick out of it! Thanks for the added humor…
Anna {Herbivore Triathlete} says
My town is apparently very lame, the top 10 Twitter users are a bunch of high school kids, LOL.
Andrea @Pencils and Pancakes says
That’s a neat little tool!
Marta says

Kasey says
Of course – Lance Armstrong followed closely by Whole Foods! (I’m from Austin)
Kaylee says
Now I feel dumb even looking up the top tweeter in my area; I live in Northwest Arkansas so it was, of course, Walmart!! We’re the home of Wally World after all.
Bek @ Crave says
I’m so lame at Twitter haha!
Danielle @ Truffles n' Treadmills says
Vera Bradley, the news channel, and a local hockey team are in the top of my location! There are also a ton of random people that i’ve never heard of
Kelly says
I’m not going to lie I’m a total Twitter addict except I like to be ridiculous and say I “twatted” instead of “tweeted”, which in hindsight I probably shouldn’t do. Writing that out just sounds gross. Anyways, that link is pretty cool – thanks for sharing 🙂
Clara says
I don’t even use Twitter but this is fun.I’m just checking random places now. 😀
Ali @ WHOLEistically Fit says
Haha. You’re not going to believe this, but you know all that earlier discussion about caca, flatulence, and twitter? Well, these apparently all tie together really nicely because one of the top tweeters in my area is, and I kid you not, @fart. Nice. 😉
