When the alarm went off this morning, I was wide awake. That almost never happens! I feel like I usually arrive at the gym half awake, so it was nice to feel energetic first thing in the morning. I’ll take it!
This morning I began my workout with a 20 minute elliptical warm up before setting up a little station for myself to complete today’s Best Body Boot Camp workout. There is limited free floor space in my gym, so I always try to lay down a mat and grab an exercise ball if I need one to mark my territory, otherwise I’ll have to complete circuit workouts among the weights which makes me feel awkward and in the way.
I loved how my gym in Orlando had a loft space that people could use to complete workouts that required open floor space. Floor space is a hot commodity!
Breakfast
Once we arrived home from the gym, it was time for breakfast.
I made myself whole wheat French toast with cinnamon and inhaled it!
It has been far too long since I’ve had French toast and this breakfast made me way too happy.
First Perfume
With breakfast in our bellies, Ryan and I leashed Sadie up for her morning walk. As we strolled around the neighborhood, we passed two teenage boys walking to the bus stop. We actually smelled them before we saw them because their cologne was so strong! Oh, high school days.
The strong smell of their cologne prompted a conversation about our first perfume/cologne. Ryan said he was all about Curve in high school.
He also said Michael Jordan cologne was quite popular among his friends. As someone who grew up outside of Chicago when the Chicago Bulls were winning billions of championships, Michael Jordan cologne was very popular among the guys I knew as well. Everyone wanted to “Be Like Mike!” (<— I may or may not have this song on my iPod.)
When I was in high school I was all about Gap Dream perfume.
Remember that!? Or perhaps you preferred Gap Grass? Or Gap Om?
I also succumbed to the Abercrombie & Fitch trend and had a mini bottle of A&F perfume that was my “special occasion” perfume. So snazzy!
Love’s Baby Soft! Please tell me someone else out there remembers this stuff!
Question of the Morning
- Do you remember your first perfume or cologne?
Though it’s not a perfume, as far as scents are concerned, I also loved Bath and Body Works Sun-Ripened Raspberry body splash. That stuff is like 7th grade in a bottle for me!
I remember the Love’s Baby Soft and loved the sunrise need raspberry from Bath & Body Works. My first real perfume was CK One by Calvin Klein.
Auto-correct got the best of me:) sun-ripened raspberry
Mine too! Ummm … and I just bought a bottle of it a few months ago – oh, the memories.
I remember Love’s Baby Soft (which I forgot about until I saw your pic). A boy in sixth grade bought it for me! I also loved Bath and Body Works Sun-ripened Raspberry. How I loved that stuff! It’s funny how certain smells can tranform you to a different time!
I remember mine! Clinique Happy. I was obsessed. haha.. oh, the memories!
hahaha I think Love’s Baby Soft was my first perfume, too!
Raspberry spray was amazing. I loved it back then. Now I mostly wear Bath & Body Works Country Chic (So fresh!), Carried Away (Fruity!), Secret Wonderland (Which I hear will be discontinued come June. 🙁 ), or Avon Bond Girl. I fell in love with Bond Girl a few years back, and my dad gave it to me for graduation. 🙂 I think Avon’s discontinued it, though. 🙁
My sis LOVED Love’s Baby Soft. It was too sweet and powdery for me, though.
I still have Love’s Baby Soft! I love it! It’s like baby powder in a liquid!
ahhhh Gap grass and Om!!! totally remember those, and man were they bad. I have bad allergies and the thought of smelling anywhere similar to grass all day makes my eyes itch and my nose water 🙂 I think my first was Victorias Secret Very Sexy which I now despise. Although I was also a sunrippened rasberry and Fresia fan!
Apparently I’m lame because I have never advanced beyond body sprays. Cucumber melon, apple, strawberry, etc. I would rather spend $5-$8 on a yummy smelling body spray than spend WAY more than that on a perfume.
I wore “Exclamation!” Remember that one in the black and white bottle!?!? And my favorite boy smell was always Drakkar (spelling??). I still love it when the hubs works it into his rotation!!
Oh man- thanks for the walks down scent-memory lane! I absolutely had love’s baby soft and exclamation! I totally felt like a stud when I got Debbie Gibson’s Electric Youth. And I may have also had a Fedora….
I remember Curve but not Gap Dream. I think my first were Exclamation and Electric Youth. (Debbie Gibson FTW!)
Oh, I totally had that baby soft perfume! I had like 5 different bottles of that type of stuff. Ridiculous. I loved the Gap Dream perfume but never actually had any.
I remember Curve for guys but not the Michael Jordan one. But ALL of those girl perfumes. Yes. I remember every. single. one. And you’re right about Love’s Baby Soft. I can still smell it!
Love’s Baby Soft was my first, too!!!
My best friend had the Love’s baby soft and I was always borrowing it because we LOVED it. I had the Curve for girls as my first perfume!!
My 1st perfume was fetish
I was all about the fruity body sprays in high school and didn’t get my first perfume until my first year of university. It’s Vera Wang Princes… I still like and wear it today!
Tommy Girl! GAH!
Lol, freaky! My first perfume was Love’s baby soft, I used Gap dream as a teenager, and I also used bath and body works raspberry! Lol. I read your post and thought that was a crazy coincidence! I also used Charlie as a teenager… My mom bought me a huge bottle of it once, and before I was a third of the way thru it I despised the scent. Haha
Victoria’s Secret Love spell. EVERYONE wore that. 🙂
OMG, Charlie! Anyone remember Jean Nate (sp)? I remember Love’s baby soft, I used to spray my dolls and blankets with it too. I bought it for my daughters also. However, my first was Navy, and I think Liz Claiborne, that was the only name I think, in a red triangle bottle, (does this show my age?! lol).
ha!…yes, i had to have love’s baby soft…loved it.
Awww, my first love when I was 17 wore curve. Brings back memories! lol
Oh, and I think my first perfume in maybe like 6th grade was Exclamation. The bottle was shaped in an exclamation mark. Stuff doesn’t smell so great but I must have liked it then. lol
TOMMY GIRL. For the win. I still like it.
CK one – looking back makes complete since that I loved a scent that was marketed for men and women since i was such a tomboy back then!
Im catching up on your posts and am laughing at this one! I too had all of the scents you listed above in HS, even the baby soft – so funny!! Oh memories (and the Gap Grass is one memory id love to forget! yek!)
I had two perfumes; Lucky was for everyday use and Clinique Happy was my “special occasions” perfume! My husband started wearing Curve in sixth grade and he is STILL wearing it. It’s crazy how smells can bring back memories…
My first perfume was Tommy Girl. Oh man, those were the days…
I totally wore the Gap Dream at some point too!
I also had Loves Baby Soft as my first perfume. I don’t wear perfume now it gives me headaches. But after Loves, my favorite was Obsession.
I had a loves baby soft that smelled like lemons…I loved it! My first serious perfume was Electric Youth by Debbie Gibson!! I loved that stuff!
I love ezekiel bread!! I tried an amazing french toast recipe here. http://healthylivingrevelations.com/2013/02/09/healthy-french-toast-made-in-the-microwave/
It’s soooo good and you can make it in the microwave. love your blog 🙂
Wow, you nailed it with those perfumes! Soooo funny!
My first perfume was Refuge from Charlotte Russe and I only got it because they had little sample scent packets attached to their jeans that made them smell so good.
Oh what a great post about our first perfume/cologne! I was never a big wearer of perfumes and now never wear them because of the chemicals but I really loved Blue by Ralph Lauren and actually still have a little bottle of it! I also used to wear the gap perfumes in HS and college.
It is so funny that you post about Love’s Baby Soft because a few months ago I was going through some stuff that was still left over at my parent’s house and I found a bottle of it that my mom had bought me for my first perfume. It still smelt the same and it just made me laugh that after all these years I found it!
