Good morning!
I hope all is well with you today!
My mind was all over the place during my workout this morning and my workout ended up mirroring my mind. It jumped around a lot, but kept me entertained and made my time at the gym fly by which is always a good thing.
Before heading into the gym, I made up a quick 10-minute cardio circuit to do in between 10-minute rounds of cardio.
In the end my 50-minute workout looked like this:
- 10 min. incline walking (I followed my 10 minute Killer Incline Walking Workout)
- Cardio circuit
- 10 min. elliptical
- Cardio circuit
- 10 min. run
If you want to make it to the gym to do some cardio, but plugging away on one cardio machine sounds rather unappealing to you, I highly recommend breaking your cardio workout up into 10-minute sessions. After each 10-minute session, I felt like I accomplished a mini workout goal. Score!
Breakfast
I had peanut butter on the brain when it came time to make breakfast this morning.
I toasted a whole wheat bagel before topping it with creamy peanut butter and a sprinkle of chia seeds for some crunch.
And hot coffee to fuel the day!
Now I’m off to get something notarized for my new job (I’m tellin’ ya, the new-hire paperwork is legit!) and then we have a meeting with our accountant around lunchtime.
See ya later!
I like the idea of breaking up workouts into little mini workouts! Doing short sessions on each machine probably works more muscles than you would if you were to stay on one too.
I am trying this fast paced workout on my trip next week! This is perfect for hotel rooms. I am sure I will be a sweaty mess haha. 🙂
LOVE the workout! Breaking up cardio intervals makes everything go by so much faster!
I can never do just one machine at the gym. I jump around between a few and then end up doing strength training at home be wise I’m sick of being in the gym haha. Definitely going to have to give this workout a try!
That bagel looks delicious. I think it’s peanut butter melting off the side… 😉
And I LOVE that mug!
Warm peanut butter is unbeatable in the morning!
breaking up any workout def makes it fly by!! smart thinkin, lady!
I looove breaking my workouts up into little chunks! It makes them fly by!
The breaking up of a big workout into mini workouts makes time go by SO much faster! I always like that too. And that peanut butter looks so perfect and drippy.
It always seems like the more scattered my workouts are the less I focus on how much something burns/hurts then at the end I’m like WOW I’m tired. haha
Breaking up a workout is smart! Makes the time fly by & makes it way more fun 🙂
How is it that you can make something as simple as a good ol’ Bagel with Peanut-butter look SO GOOD?!?! I think it is the melted effect…. ok now I am hungry ha : )
Where’s your mug from? It’s very cute.
Thanks! I actually got it on sale through ruelala.com.
That’s a great circuit!! I love how the time just flies by with circuits!
I’m so excited for you for your new job! I can’t wait to hear how it goes.
My sister loves to break up her workouts like that, and there’s a lot of benefits from doing that. Julian Michaels is a believer of that!! Way to Go..
I hear you on the scatter brain! I don’t know how it works for gyms, but working at a hospital requires never ending paperwork, vaccinations, and other exams which I personally loathe. But it’s worth it when it’s finally done!
Whenever my mind is all over the place I do my Insanity workout because it’s all over the place too!
I agree, I definitely like splitting up my cardio on the gym. A whole hour on a treadmill or elliptical can seem like a lifetime!
Also, next time you are in the mood for peanut butter, you should check out my peanut butter banana french toast I posted about this morning. Your peanut butter french toast was actually my inspiration! And you know I gave you credit in my post too! 😉 You can check out the recipe here

yum!!! thanks!
Why are your chia seeds white? Mine are black. weird. What kind do you use? I get mine at Trader Joe’s.
they are the chia co. australian grown chia seeds. 🙂
They seem to be much more popular here in Oz. On my last grocery run, the store didn’t even have black chia seeds, but 3 different brands of white!
Are those white chia seeds?
I feel like I ALWAYS have peanut butter on the brain!! 😉
Love this quick circuit!
I wish I’d seen this before I worked out! I couldn’t run today so I plugged away for an hour on the elliptical! Blah.
This workout sounds like fun and that breakfast looks yummyyy! For your recipe roundup for April, you should do one with chia seeds! I just bought some from whole foods the other day and have been at a loss for what to do with them, so some recipe ideas would be awesome.
good idea!!! thank you, bailey!
You’re very welcome! Love the blog 🙂
That circuit sounds perfect for me this week because my school gym’s cardio equipment is on the second floor, which is closed due to insane heat! All that we have to use are stationary bikes, and I can.not. do that for 50 min.
I like the idea of 10-minute mini workouts. At least it doesn’t get boring that way!
Mmm that melty peanut butter looks amazing!
Can’t beat coffee and PB in the morning! I love breaking up cardio sets, but I feel like I can’t if I’m training for a longer race. That one looks like a good sweaty one tho 🙂
Looks like a great circuit!
I love your coffee mug – where’s it from?
Thanks! I got it on sale from RueLaLa.com.
That bagel looks soooooooooo good. Melty peanut butter. I’m drooling.
Julie, what do you use to time your quick intervals? Anything special, or just the good old clock on the wall?
just the clock on the wall. ryan uses a gymboss interval timer and loves it though just in case you’re in the market!
I just love circuit workouts. It’s funny how popular those have become in recent years. 🙂
gottta love circuits!! 🙂
That’s such a good idea! I will definitely try breaking up my treadmill cardio that way.
I love your workout! This will definitely make the time at the gym go by faster by switching things up! I, too, am dealing with employment paperwork! I had to go back yesterday and get my fingerprints done a second time because they couldn’t read the first set well. Oh well! Ha.
Eeek seeing the accountant doesn’t sound fun, but the whole new job thing sounds so exciting! 😀 And I like to keep variety as well not only because it keeps me motivated, but also because it ends up working the whole body in different ways–which is so important for our health. 🙂
Congrats on your job!
Saw this shirt – thought you would enjoy it. http://www.abundantheartapparel.com/collections/fitness/products/peanut-butter-tank
I missed the new job announcement but congrats!! That’s awesome and so perfect for you!
Totally feel you on the “all over the place”, I did a “Bust Boredom Treadmill Workout” this morning, alternating in burpee’s, push-ups, etc. It was fun & went by fast 🙂
Love hopping between machines and putting all your effort in to short blasts! That peanut butter looks SO creamy!
I love doing short intervals like that….keeps from getting bored! That bagel looks divine 🙂
I was getting ready to do just that! Nothing breaks up time like switching machines, interspersing some toning or intervals, and some kicking jams (that sounds SO dorky!)
It’s not a morning without hot coffee 🙂
Love that cardio idea! I’ll have to try it to keep from keep me from getting bored!!!
Congratulations on your new job!!
I have never seen white chia seeds? Hmm do they taste the same as the regular black ones? And I love that coffee cup- so cute and simple!
yep! they taste the same to me!
That PB looks so melty and creamy…i think it’s PB2, is it?!
nope! just melted jif natural. 🙂
That is a great 10-min fitness cycle! Way to stay healthy!
Hey there just wanted to give you a quick heads up. The text in your content seem to be running off the screen in Safari.
I’m not sure if this is a formatting issue or something to do
with browser compatibility but I thought I’d post to let you know.
The style and design look great though! Hope you get the
