I am back in Florida and happy to be in my home state!
My family and I touched down in Jacksonville yesterday evening and I was exhausted by the time we made it back to my parents’ place. I decided to spend the night at my parents’ house rather than drive back to Ocala late at night. Plus, I wanted to take an early morning BodyCombat class at the gym in Jacksonville!
I set my alarm for 5:10 a.m. and grabbed an orange, a Luna bar and a packet of Justin’s chocolate hazelnut butter to eat. (I ended up eating the Luna bar on my way to the gym and saved the hazelnut butter and the orange for after my workout.)
Once I arrived at the gym, I quickly made my way into the studio where the class was scheduled to take place and was happy to see a ton of people were there for the early morning class. Sometimes it’s hard to feel overly energetic before 6 a.m. and the energy of other group exercisers does wonders for my personal motivation. I feed off the energy of my fellow early morning exercisers!
Not having access to BodyPump or any other Les Mills classes regularly makes me really appreciate any Les Mills class I can take. (BodyPump and BodyCombat are just two of the phenomenal classes that fall under the Les Mills umbrella. If you are interested, you can find a Les Mills class near you by clicking here.) I just feel so fired up any time I can take one of their classes because they are all so high-energy. They challenge me and invigorate my workouts in the best possible way.
I’m still working on a proposal to bring BodyPump to my gym in Ocala. My fingers are crossed! I think my chances will increase once our building goes through an expansion this winter and more members (hopefully) join which will (hopefully) increase our budget.
After I was done at the gym, I hopped into my car to make the drive back to Ocala. I am currently blogging from Starbucks where I stopped to grab a latte and type up this blog post, but once it’s published, I’ll be on my way.
I can’t wait to see Sadie spaz out the moment I walk through the door. Unfortunately our reunion will be cut short this morning because I will immediately have to head out the door to work until after 8 p.m. today, but it will be great to see my lil’ lady and Ryan later this evening!
Catcha later!
Questions of the Morning
- If you could make your gym offer any one class that is not currently on their group exercise schedule, what class would you like to see offered?
I’d love to see BodyPump, Les Mills GRIT, Jazzercise, SoulCycle, a barre class like Physique 57 and a trampoline class offered at my gym. I know that it is not possible for some of these classes to ever come to my gym, but a girl can dream!
- What is one thing you’re really looking forward to today?
I’m really looking forward to the moment I arrive home from work. I can’t wait to give Ryan a giant hug and curl up on the couch with Ryan and Sadie. I missed those two!
Alisha @ Alisha's Appetite says
I’d love to take a bodypump and barre class, but unfortunately my gym doesn’t offer them…yet! I am looking forward to snuggling with my dog after my long day of work tonight around 9 pm! 🙂
Jan Klein says
Shoot, I’ve been asking for a beginners yoga class for months now. And I’ll keep asking until we get it! 🙂
Annette@FitnessPerks says
Yay–Les Mills classes are the best! Glad you had fun at Combat. I don’t love Combat, personally, but that is just me! I teach PUMP, CXWORX, and GRIT, and love those all!
I would love my gym to also get some TRX (offer it) and Insanity would be fun to try too!
Natalie @ Free Range Human says
I would love to have yoga and a barre class. Also, I hear that Jillian Michaels is rolling out a new group exercise class. That would be great!
Kelly @ Kelly Runs for Food says
I’d love it if my gym offered barre classes. I can totally understand that awesome feeling of coming home and seeing how happy your dog is! My Bella freaks out when I’ve been traveling and it just makes everything better!
Katie says
I want my gym to offer a kettle bell or barre class.
I am looking forward to eating lunch outside today, the weather is fantastic.

i would love for my gym to offer barre classes! i’ve never tried a barre class, but i’m very intrigued and would love a chance to try it!

I absolutely LOVE les mills classes. My old gym before I moved for college had them and I lived at turbokick and bodypump! I’m looking forward to a date night tonight! 🙂

I’d love to see a barre type class come to our gym as well as more yoga classes. Currently there are only a few and not scheduled at very good times.
Jane {In the Pink and Green} says
Les Mills Body Attack is still one of my favorites! It has the fun of Zumba while being much more high intensity and I love it! 🙂
Ashley says
I got my first Pumpkin latte of the season this weekend and was SO angry at myself for thinking it was still too early to enjoy a late. All summer I just want ice drinks or espressos because I’m so hot — but there really is NOTHING like a good latte as the months get colder :). I think I found my new Sunday afternoon ritual!
Ashlee@HisnHers says
You’re going to be exhausted tonight girl! I bet they missed you too 🙂
Kelly says
I love the little Justin’s packets, they’re so convenient! I’d love to try a barre class, I’ve yet to do so
Fizz @ fizzsbizz says
Body pump for sure!! They do have it at a gym near me but only once a week and not at a time that I can go. I seriously thought about buying the body pump kit from beach body but I know I need the atmosphere of the classes to really dig deep.
Taylor @ Single-tracked Mind says
Right there with you! I’d definitely wish for a BodyPump at my gym (Crunch in SF). Bootcamp classes are great, but nothing beats BodyPump!
Krysten says
I’m lloking forward to my 5 mile run and then going to get some frozen yogurt with my boyfriend before he leaves on a business trip for a few days (:
Naomi says
I am looking forward to going to a zumba class later this afternoon, and then relaxing with my husband later tonight 🙂
Ashley @ My Food N Fitness Diaries says
We have a “Pump class” that’s similar to Body Pump, but it’s not the same thing, so I’d vote for Body Pump to come to our gym! Like you, I love it!
I’m looking forward to having lunch with Annette and getting together with some other girlfriends this evening for appetizers, wine, and crafts!
Erin G. @ Treats and Sneaks says
I would love to see my gym offer MORE Les Mills classes (we have BodyPump and BodyStep). Speaking of which, I’ve never heard you talk about BodyStep, have you ever taken it? It makes me sweat like nothing else can 😉 It’s always full of older ladies and some of them can even show me up – it’s so awesome to see!
Elle says
I love Body Pump! I have only been about to do it 4 times but loved it so much. The instructor makes all the difference.
Anna @ Fitness à la Anna says
My dream class would be kettle-kick, mixture of kettlebells and kick-boxing 🙂

I’m looking forward to bed time – I’m pooped today! Okay, and yoga. 🙂

I wish my gym offered a hip hop cardio class! Where I lived before this was my absolute favorite activity of the week. I miss it terribly.
Ashley @ BrocBlog says
All these bloggers are always talking about body pump and I seriously wish we had it so I could try it!
Sammy @ Peace Love and Ice Cream says
Good for you for getting up early to hit the gym! It makes it (a little) easier when it’s a group class that you’re excited about! (PS – I love Luna Bars…they used to make Cookies n Cream and they were DELISH!)
I think a trampoline class would be super fun!

Luckily my gym offers BodyPump, but GRIT would be awesome and I would LOVE to have SoulCycle!

Barre! I treated myself to a few Pure Barre DVDs, though, so I can do it anytime!
Melissa says
Today, I looked forward to taking a walk outside with my mom in the warm, Autumn sun! Such a beautiful Fall day!
Nicole says
I wish they taught a CXWORX at a gym a little closer to me. There is a 24Hour Fitness that has it, but it’s 20 miles away and late at night (I prefer to work out before work or before 7:00 p.m. ….I can’t fall asleep if it’s too late! ….and now I sound like a Granny!)
Anne Marie says
Ahh I am a HUGE body combat fan! and I’m like you living away from any gym that has les mills classes so I find I am super super excited when I get to go to one! 🙂
Jan @ Sprouts n Squats says
I’d love them to offer a pilates class or just more yoga classes in general. They only have 1 weekly yoga class but it just isn’t enough.
I wish we had those single serve nut butters here!
Madeline Santee says
Check out LeBarre – it’s an amazing program that uses Lebert Equalizers. I love them as a fitness tool, and it’s definitely a program worth looking into!

My gym just started offering BodyPump, but I’ve been nervous to take it! It looks difficult… any suggestions? 🙂
Kristy says
I love all the Les Mills classes too! I used to teach Bodypump, but moved and the commute was just too far. I still do the class once in a while by myself, but you are so right…the energy of other people in the class is incredibly motivating. I just recently started teaching a Hard Core class…it’s a 45 mins killer body weight strength training class and a HIIT class (super high intensity and followed by rest periods). I love teaching classes and anything that gets my heart rate up or challenges me is a winner in my book!
Livi says
i’m looking forward to babysitting– I was away last week and missed my little girls!
Liv says
Ohhhh, BodyCombat is my FAVOURITE class EVER – besides the fact that, for some unknown reason, I just love it to pieces, it has been one of the the main reasons my body fat % has dropped almost 10 units in a year 🙂
I’m very sad my gym doesn’t offer any spinning opportunities so that would be my main wishful request.
And I’m waiting forward to be reunited with my boyfriend tonight who got home from the hospital after some minor surgery yesterday.

I remember taking a 24 Lift class at my gym when I first started learning how to use weights. The stupid management cancelled the class and the teacher had to go somewhere else. I wish that they’d bring it back.
It’s much harder trying to hunt down the manager demanding an upgrade at my gym. At least I got two new michraphones for my teachers with me complaining a couple of weeks ago.
