Good morning!
I missed you guys yesterday afternoon! I didn’t have time to break away from work to blog and the minute I got off work, I headed to Jacksonville because I am leaving for Savannah with my sister today for her bachelorette party!!! WOOHOO! I am thrilled and know a fun weekend is about to begin the minute I hit publish on this blog post.
As you know, today is Friday, so it’s time for Things I’m Loving Friday! I had to laugh when I realized most of the items on today’s list are food related, but I guess delicious food is worth smiling about, right? Right!
Things I’m Loving Friday
- Bachelorette Party Preparations
I have been having a wonderful time planning my sister’s bachelorette party with some of her best girlfriends. We have a weekend full of surprises and shenanigans in store and I hope Leslie loves every single minute of it! She deserves the best bachelorette party in the world. (FYI, the above koozies were made by my friend Allison. Aren’t they adorable!? I think they’re so fun and perfect for a bachelorette party! Here’s her contact information, just in case any of you are in the process of planning a party and want some personalized items: portobluegifts@gmail.com.)
- Cheese Toast
Oh cheese toast, why are you so delicious? Cheese toast was one of my favorite after school snacks in high school and it has recently come back into my life in full-force. I top a piece of whole wheat toast with a few slices of cheddar cheese cut off a cheese block and sprinkle the toast with parmesan when it comes out of the toaster oven. So ridiculously tasty!

Blast from the past! Some personal favorites: String Thing, SqueezeIts, Clearly Canadian and Cheeseballs!
Ryan gave me four weeks of Blue Apron meals for Christmas and we received our first box earlier this week. We made our first meal on Wednesday night and the stuffed shells were unbelievable! Ryan and I both agreed that if every meal tastes half as good as these, we are in for a treat!
- Publix Lace Cookies
These lace cookies were an impulse buy at Publix last Sunday and Ryan and I nearly polished off the whole container in the car on the way home. So, what I’m basically saying is proceed with caution if you see these at a Publix near you. They’re addicting!
This is my afternoon pick-me-up of choice lately. I often thing plain green tea tastes like dirty water, but this pomegranate green tea has a slightly sweet flavor that I adore. It warms me right up!
- You Guys
I hope you guys know how much your readership and support means to me. You lift me up every single day, but when I received this email yesterday, I wanted to come hug each and every one of you. Thank you for supporting Headbands of Hope and making a difference in the lives of little girls over the holidays. Your generosity and kindness continues to blow me away.

Hi Julie – I stumbled onto your blog for the first time back in June, and it has been such a joy! Your are such an inspiration, not just with fitness and food but you also have such a positivity about you that really shows through your words. I really enjoy stopping in each day and reading your new post. With all that said, I think it is so awesome about Headbands of Hope. I actually purchased one for my cousin for Christmas (thanks to your blog) and have since bought a few others, and plan to buy more. I work for the American Cancer Society in Southern CA, so when I first read about Headbands of Hope on your blog I knew I had to support it. Any cause to support the fight against cancer is at the top of my list! So, thank you. Have a wonderful weekend with your sister and friends in beautiful Savannah!

I wish I even HAD a Publix near me even if it was full of dangerous cookies! I miss Publix cookies…childhood trips to the grocery store meant a free PB cookie during each visit. I also had my very first chocolate chip cookie at Publix. I still remember the moment!
That is SO great about Headbands of Hope and the contribution you were able to make just by featuring them on your blog!

That’s my favorite tea in the world…so much better than plain green tea!

Totally have to check the extinct foods post! I’m forever remembering things that have disappeared! I’m loving cauliflower crust pizza yet again and I’m on a savory breakfast kick!

I’m loving organic apple cider vinegar. i’ve been mixing 2 Tbl of it with 2 Tbl lemon juice, 2 tsp of honey and a dash of cayenne pepper in a glass of warm water every morning. I’ve been reading about it as a great detoxifier, and just generally good way to start the day..and it really does help me feel great. and call me crazy, but i think it has helped my skin look nicer too. it sounds nasty, but it actually just tastes like an apple cider that is a tad sour
Also…orbitz pop! i remember they were banned from my middle school when i was in 6th grade because kids kept passing them around to taste different flavors.

I am a major tea lover and just recently tried Pomegranate green tea too! I’d had pomegranate white tea, but not green. I think green tea is not so delicious myself, so I was skeptical. It is tasty though! Also love your mug!
Lindsay @ Shiny Love Affair says
I’ve been loving Raw Honey lately. I feel like I’ve been using it for everything. Baking, in my tea, on my toast, etc… so good!

Hope you have fun in Savannah! I loved living there. Ya’ll should try Rocks on the Roof at the Bohemian Hotel. The drinks and food are great and the atmosphere is amazing! Great views of the Savannah River and the decor is beautiful. Jen’s and Friends is also another great little place to check out. It’s a small town martini bar with a friendly vibe.
Have fun and be safe!

Such amazing news about the headbands. That’s so, so wonderful and heartwarming to read <3
Love your koozies. We received similar ones for a destination wedding favor several years ago, and we still have them (they somehow even made the trip to Australia with us)! Such a great idea!

Recently I am loving english muffins. Toasted with jam, a runny egg, and hot sauce, or with Sun Butter, sliced apples and banana.
I am also loving popcorn, but that’s always the case with me. Salted caramel and cookies and cream…..YUM.

Love that Bigelow pomegranate green tea! The Whole Foods version isn’t bad, either.

I love bachelorette parties! (Over here we call them ‘hen dos’) The girls are now planning mine and I’m getting very excited, although it’s very frustrating to not be part of the planning for the first time! Hope you are having a fantastic time!

If you like Pom green tea, try mighty leaf tropical green tea! One of my faves for years and it’s still hard to find anything to top it!
