I’m back in Jacksonville again! After spending less than 24 hours in Ocala, I turned around and headed back to Jacksonville late this morning. I am flying out of the Jacksonville airport on a quick trip tomorrow and since my grandma, aunt and cousin are still in town from my sister’s wedding, I decided to drive back for a little more family time later today.
I planned my departure time around a BodyPump class in Jacksonville and arrived just in time to begin the warm up. Phew!
The instructor wasn’t my favorite but the class still delivered a solid workout.
I concluded my time at the gym with a quick 10 minute cool down on the elliptical.
And no, I still haven’t washed my hair since my sister’s wedding (hence the weird spiral bun and super-teased look).
Lunch
After my time at the gym, I drove to Whole Foods to grab a quick lunch from the hot bar.
I filled half of my container with a superfood salad and the other half with comfort foods in the form of baked beans, macaroni and cheese and a Moroccan chicken dish.
And now I’m nice and full.
I am planning to spend the majority of the afternoon working at Whole Foods before heading off to my parents’ place for a big family dinner with our relatives.
Time to participate in a conference call regarding tomorrow’s trip while I enjoy this lovely little shortbread cookie!

- What is your favorite place to go for lunch?
I usually pack my lunch, so eating anywhere around lunchtime feels like a treat. My favorite mainstream lunch spots are probably Chipotle or Whole Foods.

I usually pack my own lunch too (much healthier and cost effective that way!) but sometimes I go to Outpost Co-Op near my work 🙂 It’s got so much good stuff there, including fresh smoothies and the best gluten free cheese popovers! 🙂

I have the Polar FT4 (I talk more about it here: https://www.pbfingers.com/2013/12/04/pbf-gift-guide-fitness-finds/) and LOVE it. And on my other wrist is the Polar Loop which I started using a month or so ago. I like that is keeps track of my steps and motivates me to move more in the day. Also, quick question for you! I teach group fitness, but mostly like dance fitness and stuff, but what made you say that the instructor didn’t do it all the way for you? Just wondering!

In BodyPump the instructors usually do all of the workout with you but she skipped parts of a few tracks and just told us what to do. I think it’s important to demo the exercises for safety reasons, so I wasn’t really a fan.

So interesting! So in my class, I usually do/demo everything with my participants, so they don’t feel like I’m just barking at them what it is I want them to do! I have heard that complaint about other teachers though. I wonder why they don’t full out do the moves as well, provided they’re not injured/pregnant/unable to do the moves or something.

I was so glad this was asked/answered. I teach BP, and I’m trying to do better with my classes. I’m always curious what I can do more of or improve to help my participants enjoy. I’ve never just skipped out on tracks though with the releases, they will sometimes show trainers sitting up on the bench so they can gauge ROM, improve form and connect.

I love to hit up the WF bar because I have the same strategy; 80% wholesome eats and 20% treats (hello mac and cheese!!). When I go to the WF bar, I can get just a taste of various dishes without full on committing to a dish. My favorite way to eat.

LOVE that you shamelessly (borderlining on proudly!) admit you haven’t washed your hair since your sister’s wedding. I did that the last wedding I was in (resulting in an EXTREMELY long shower trying to get the knots out) but it is nice to know I’m not alone in my putting off washing hair. (Mostly b/c I’m lazy but I justify it by insisting it’s better for your hair). Some people buy it, others find it gross. 🙂

I actually went to my favorite lunch spot this past Saturday with the boyfriend. Taco Sisters! My favorite item on the menu is their smothered brisket burrito. It’s amazing if paired up with their jalapeno/ranch sauce. Not the healthiest of meals, but amazingly tasty!

Yum, Whole Foods is so tasty! I am sad I don’t have it near me, although almost glad in a way because I’d probably be broke! My favourite place for lunch is a place called The Duncan Garage Cafe. It’s a local business that serves organic, local food from farmers in the area. Loooove it! Everything is homemade and so fresh!

I like instructors who demo the exercise. I do not know mind them not doing all of the sets but I like to see how my form should be. One thing I hate is when they make you do partner exercises. I just do not like touching a sweaty stranger…

I love Whole Foods, but I’d have to say the sushi places in southern NY are amazing for lunch. The value is awesome for the quality sushi!

When I lived in NC we had Earth Fare and they made the BEST sandwiches for only 5$. All organic, local meats and veggies and they were the size of your head. I miss it! I haven’t found a lunch place quite as good in my new town!

My favorite lunch place right now is Chipotle. If you choose correctly it can be very healthy.

Lunch out is a total treat. I always find myself at Whole Foods or some make your own salad place, like Chop’t. Finding new places is always fun, but those are definitely my go-tos.
