This morning began with an unexpected little hiccup. Ryan’s car wouldn’t start, so I had to drop him off at work a little after 7 a.m.
Since he works on the opposite side of town, I decided to pack up my computer and clothes for the day and stay on that side of town rather than come home to avoid lots of backtracking. I quickly assembled a grab-n-go breakfast to eat in the car during the 25-minute commute to Ryan’s work.
Part one: Greek yogurt topped with dried mango and dark cocoa almonds
Part two: A KIND bar
The KIND bar arrived in my latest Birchbox yesterday. I’ve received tea in a Birchbox in the past, but this was the first food sample I’ve received in my monthly beauty box. Kind of random for a beauty box, but it was tasty, so I’ll take it!
Workout
After I dropped Ryan off, I initially planned to work for an hour or so at a local coffee shop before my workout, but I felt oddly energetic, so I went to the gym to workout before grabbing a latte at a nearby coffee shop.
Today’s workout was very similar to the Shoulder Shredder workout I shared on Tuesday but it focused on my biceps instead.
Directions for this workout are the same as the directions for the Shoulder Shredder workout: Complete each circuit four times before moving onto the next. Move from one exercise to the next within each circuit without rest. Catch your breath at the very end of each circuit.
Links to demos of some of the exercises:
After my workout, I took my sweaty self to Cup O’ the Irish, one of my favorite local coffee shops, to order a vanilla almond milk latte and type up this blog post before it’s time for me to drive back to the gym to teach.
Catch ya after lunch!

I got the same bar in my Birchbox yesterday, but haven’t tried it yet.
Last month I got two kinds of tea in my Birchbox and I LOVE the addition of food items.
Have a great day!

So random, right!? But it was a nice treat!

Thanks for the new arm workout to add to my list! Oh and hiccups can come at the worst times! I once worked at Sonic during the summer, and I got the hiccups when I was taking someone’s order. It was kind of embarrassing, but mostly funny. 🙂

That latte looks amazing! I’ve had those new Kind bars before – great for hiking!
By the way, I went to Body Pump last night and it made me think of you/your blog! I’m trying to focus more on strengthening and circuit workouts with weights since I currently can’t run (I have a stress fracture!).

Jealous! Love BodyPump! Hope you heal fast!

Almond milk latte. Yum!!! Food in beauty box is weird – while I’d gladly eat it, I’d much prefer a new nail polish!

Ahh I hate car problems!! They are never fun. Hopefully it’s fixed soon! Yesterday I was oddly very energetic, I went on 2 walks…. Today not so much! Hopefully I get an energy boost soon!
Leah @ goodnightcheese says
Out of curiosity, why do you go with almond milk? I didn’t think you were off dairy.
Julie says
I prefer the taste!

Sounds like a great workout! I may need to do this one today…I skipped my usual lunch time workout and went to a chinese buffet for lunch with some coworkers. Now I need a nap!

I love those Kind bars – straight up and as granola crumbled in stuff (like into my mouth).

Hi Julie!
I’ve been an avid reader of your blog for a couple of years now and love reading! I was wondering if you wouldn’t mind answering a question for me about fitness. While I was reading this post it got me thinking about using weights and strength training. I’ve been a big exerciser for a long time, mostly focusing on running. However, I’ve been trying to incorporate full body workouts and strength training into my routine now as well. I’ve read a lot about what type of weight to use, but I’m never really sure which would work best for me. I have a broad upper body and am looking to lose a little weight in my arms and tone up. Would you recommend using light weights/many reps or a heavier weight? What weight do you use when doing arm workouts? I usually stick with 5 lbs., sometimes 7.5.
Thanks so much for taking the time to read this and helping if you can 🙂
