It’s Friday and I’m so ready for the weekend. Ryan and I have a road trip planned and will be leaving Saturday morning for North Carolina! I am really looking forward to a short weekend away!
I hope you guys have some fun things on the agenda this weekend… but no plans can be just as fabulous as lots of plans!
To kick off the weekend fun, let’s get right into this week’s Things I’m Loving Friday post where I share a roundup of the things that are making me smile this week. As always, I’d love to hear about what you’ve been loving this week in the comments section of this post!
Things I’m Loving Friday
- Super Nintendo
On Sunday night, Ryan broke his old Super Nintendo out of storage and the two of us had an absolute blast playing Donkey Kong Country, my all-time favorite Super Nintendo game. I haven’t played in years and Ryan and I made quite the rusty duo. (I think we scared Sadie with our yelling!) We haven’t put our Super Nintendo away just yet and plan to revisit the game we started when we have more downtime one evening next week. We are determined to improve our skills! <—Serious life goals right there.
A few of you guys have asked what I put in my morning cup of coffee and I usually add almond milk (sometimes regular milk) and three drops of liquid vanilla stevia. It’s not cheap (I buy mine on Amazon), but I’ve had my teeny bottle of NuNaturals liquid stevia for months and months since the littlest bit goes a long way. It adds the perfect amount of sweetness (one drop packs a serious punch!) and I think it may be time for me to explore additional flavors. (The peppermint intrigues me!) I’ve also added a few drops of the liquid vanilla stevia to plain Greek yogurt or a smoothie before when I felt like it has needed a little extra sweetness and it was great.
- Wait But Why’s How to Name a Baby
Thanks to Monica for bringing this article to my attention! Name trends have always fascinated me and this article takes a seriously in-depth look at names and links to some neat recourses where you can type in your name to check when it peaked in popularity. It’s worth a read! (And no, I’m not pregnant.)
- Gardenias
My mother-in-law has a beautiful, booming gardenia plant in her yard and I couldn’t get over the incredible fragrance of the flowers last weekend. They smell incredible and I’m hoping my black thumb turns green before Ryan and I own a house so I can try to maintain some beautiful plants that smell this amazing one day!
- Your Nut Butter + Chocolate Chips on a Spoon Pictures
You guys cracked me up this week when you tagged me on Instagram with pictures of your favorite nut butter and chocolate chips on a spoon. After I shared my nightly tradition with you guys during last week’s Things I’m Loving Friday post, I began to see your photos of this simple and simply delicious treat pop up on Instagram and had to smile. Thanks for the tag!! I’m so glad we can all bond over our intense love of chocolate chips and nut butter! Another fabulous combination? Animal crackers and almond butter.
If you’re looking for a quality hard sunglasses case that’s actually BIG enough for your sunglasses, I cannot recommend the Vera Bradley sunglasses case enough. I’ve had mine for years and it fits two pairs of fairly large sunglasses without a problem. It’s durable and easily protects my sunglasses when I’m not wearing them. It’s a winner!

I love the word Azimuth … but would never use it on a child.
I also feel SORRY AS HELL for people who name their kids john Johnson, Peter Peters, Philip Phillips, etc. morons.
meredith @ The Cookie ChRUNicles says
All I remember from Super Nintendo was that the original Mario Bros. was different and had Yoshi. I didn’t love it but Yoshi was cute! I always hated Donkey Kong because I would get really frustrated by the game. It was the one game that I would throw my remote over.
Katie Mitchell says
My favorite Super Nintendo game was Street Fighter. My friends and I played that game over, and over, and over……
Lara @ uptitemamas.com says
Totally had to laugh when I got to your “No, I’m not pregnant” disclaimer. Of course that’s immediately where people’s minds go to!
Dallas says
Omg, super Nintendo Donkey Kong … that brings back the memories!!
I’ve been loving your nutbutter + chocolate chips combo myself lately…
Have a fun trip to North Carolina!

I love nunaturals–I put a drop or two of peppermint into my chocolate whey protein powder + milk concoction for post workout, and it’s fab. It tastes like I’m sipping minty cold cocoa. Such a great treat when I’m all done teaching 🙂
I am loving the sunshine, and baby taking longer naps. Wahoo!

I miss my Super Nintendo! I really wish I would have kept it. I’ve been thinking about it a lot for some reason so it’s funny you posted this.
Kelly @ Living Music Happy says
Favorite Super Nintendo game? Beside Donkey Kong, it would have to be The Lion King. Every level is a different scene in the movie. It’s amazing.
Maria says
Although I didn’t LOVE Super Nintendo, I really liked playing Street Fighter and Mortal Kombat. Things used to get pretty heated lol
Something I really love this week is the weather here in Ottawa. We finally got hit with some spring fever 😛
Kate says
I played Donkey Kong Country like a boss as a kid. I knew all the secret places for bananas and bonus rounds! Good memories in that limited world of graphics. 😉 Still prefer a Super Nintendo over anything else! And no, I’m not a gamer.
anna fletcher says
I use to love super Nintendo especially playing Lion king on it my favorite game for the system, I could never do the harder levels on Donkey Kong 🙁

Mmm, I had a spoonful of peanut butter with some m&ms sprinkled on top at my desk the other day. Yes, I have a jar of peanut butter stashed in my desk at work, haha.
