Good afternoon! It’s time for the second installment of the new PBF Favorites series! I started this series on the blog last week and kicked things off by sharing some of my favorite hair products.
Over the course of the next several weeks, I’m hoping to share a few lists of favorites that will touch on a bunch of categories ranging from beauty and fitness to fashion and blogging. And if you have any requests for an upcoming PBF Favorites post, please let me know!
Today’s PBF Favorites post highlights my all-time favorite workout capris and tights/leggings.
I am incredibly picky when it comes to workout capris and tights and feel like I am always on the hunt for the next best thing. I need my workout capris and leggings to be functional, comfortable and flattering. The pants and capris you will find below meet all of these requirements.
Please feel free to share your favorites in the comments section of this post!
PBF Favorites: Workout Capris and Tights
I have these in both black and a dark heather gray and can honestly say they are the most comfortable workout leggings I own. I truly could sleep in them! They aren’t as tight as some of the other pairs I own, but they are still very flattering and I love wearing them for barre and yoga workouts, as well as during chilly outdoor runs or long hikes with Ryan and Sadie. (Moving Comfort’s endurance tights are also a personal favorite!)
Bottom line: Comfortable enough for lounging, but great for workouts, too!
Reebok initially sent me a pair of these capris in a deep purple color before the IDEAWorld conference and I ended up buying them in black as well because I loved them so much. They stay up without a problem during plyometric exercises like burpees and never slip during squats or lunges. The material is also thicker than other Reebok capris I’ve worn, making them more flattering.
Bottom line: They stay in place and are perfect for plyometric workouts.
I only had to wear these tights one time to know they were going to be a favorite of mine. The material is thick and smoothing, but it doesn’t trap heat and make me feel overheated during a workout. And I sneakily wore them under my sweater during my trip to Boulder because I forgot to pack other leggings and loved wearing them as non-workout leggings, too!
Bottom line: Quality, breathable material and a flattering fit!
The perfect leggings for tall girls! I actually have rather short legs (I am all torso!), but I still appreciate longer leggings. These are a fabulous affordable option and I’ve recommended them to some of my taller friends who rave about the extra length. They’re comfortable and functional. I love them for wintertime runs outside.
Bottom line: A great affordable option, offering a longer length than most workout leggings out there.
These crops are probably the best crops I own and I cannot remember where I bought them. (I’m thinking I bought them at a fitness conference, maybe? They’re available online, but I don’t think they ship to the United States. I still wanted to include them for some of my international readers.) The quality is absolutely fabulous and I do not have one negative thing to say about them. I’ve worn them for every type of workout under the sun and they’ve impressed me time and time again. They’re great for running (I’ve worn them during two half marathons!), yoga, barre, boot camp and strength training workouts. The best!
Bottom line: A high-quality crop for almost every workout under the sun!
This is the only pair of lululemon pants/capris I own and I’ve had them for years! Though they don’t fit quite as tight as they used to, they’re still in great condition. The fabric is breathable and sweat-wicking and they’re a personal favorite for running and boot camp-style workouts. (I do not wear them for yoga or barre workouts because the material feels a little too thin for stretching.)
Bottom line: Breathable and sweat-wicking – perfect for running!
I discovered Splits 59 at my local Pure Barre studio and quickly noticed how many of my fellow barre lovers seemed to wear their apparel. It’s quite pricey, but I managed to snag a bright blue pair of their capris on NorstromRack.com for less than $30 and now understand the hype. (I couldn’t find the exact pair online anymore, but most of their capris looks very similar.) I typically wear darker colors on my bottom half, so I was nervous how the blue color would look on me but I was happy to find the material smoothing and the capris have a wide waistband and a low-rise fit that is quite flattering. They stay up during my barre workouts and have quickly become a personal favorite.
Bottom line: A wide waistband and low rise make these tights extra flattering.
- Fabletics Lima Capri
I will actually be going into much more detail about these capris in my Things I’m Loving Friday post tomorrow, so stay tuned! Brief synopsis: I love them!
Bottom line: Fabulous fit with a thick, sweat-wicking material.

I am definitely late to comment on this, but just found your blog and this article – it is very helpful. Thanks! Also, I wanted to add that I LOVE (LOVE!!!) CW-X tights for running. The stability tights and capris are the only tights/capris I run in. (but I only run in them because they are a bit more of a shiny finish and not really “wear around town” pants). CW-X also makes an insulated tight for those that live in colder climates and they are pretty great, too – they kind of have a light fleece lining yet still offer compression. (I would not recommend running in them if it’s above 30 degrees though – too warm!).

i’ll definitely look for them! thanks for sharing, brenda!! <3

HI
Such a great post. I have been desperately trying to find THE PERFECT thights which will hold in my booty during crossfit workouts and not slide down. Great to see you have found a few. My question is which of the tights that you would recommend for crossfit and squatting workouts are the best quality and last the longest? I have a pair of Lululemon’s that fit great, but started falling apart after just three months and the material doesn’t seem to last that long.
Thanks 🙂

I also had been looking for a pair of tights/leggings to wear . I hate going to the gym and doing my normal workout and constantly having to adjust my backside. Especially with all the creeps in the gym looking at my pants the see-through made it even worse. I was on Instagram one day and came across a company called the house of gainz. They have leggings that OMG feel so great. you can’t see through them, they move with me I don’t ever have to adjust even when I’m doing squats or dead lifting. I just love these guys leggings to death and i own 7 pair. I had ordered them through contacting them on Instagram @thehouseofgainz and they gave me free two-day shipping and believe it or not the leggings only cost me $45. This is half of the price i paid for my nike ones that fit the same. I really think you should check them out if you’re looking for affordable but top of the line premium leggings. You will not be sorry.

Love the colors that Athleta offer, but that price just disagrees with my wallet haha. I’m more of a poppy color girl, and it seems like lulu has slowed down to a more conservative color range for some reason. I’ve scooped up a lot of different colors from Airabella Active lately, but they don’t offer a lot of color options yet, and I like to get matching tops with my purchases usually. Thanks for all the info though, great article!

I really wish you would have added price ranges on your items, are these affordable?

I really like the Reebok Compression 3/4 pants. I like how they don’t flare at the bottom and are skin tight.
They are also high waisted, which I really like.
Great Blog!
