If you’re looking for a recipe that simply screams fall, I have the recipe for you!
This maple walnut pumpkin spice bread is bursting with pumpkin flavor and naturally sweetened with delicious Canadian maple syrup. Whole grains serve as the base (oatmeal + whole wheat flour) and the fragrant cinnamon, nutmeg and cloves in this loaf make the whole house smell incredible.
I made this bread late Sunday morning after a long morning walk with Ryan and Sadie. As we walked, we started chatting about breakfast and I arrived home in the mood to bake. (What is it about lazy Sundays that always seems to put me in the baking mood?) I grabbed some pantry staples and got to work in the kitchen.
This is a one-bowl recipe, so don’t worry about a ridiculous amount of dishes piling up in the sink. You can also mix everything together vigorously with a fork, so a mixer is not needed either. It’s a simple loaf recipe that we absolutely loved in our house!
Ryan said it reminded him a lot of his all-time favorite two-ingredient pumpkin spice cookies, but I assured him it was much better for him since it didn’t involve the fake ingredients of boxed cake mix and incorporated whole grains, heart-healthy walnuts and natural sweetness from the Canadian maple syrup.
Pure Canadian maple syrup is completely unprocessed and contains beneficial vitamins and minerals, including potassium, manganese, zinc, and riboflavin and contains 54 different antioxidant compounds. Can regular sugar say that!?
This loaf makes a great breakfast (it’s delicious topped with peanut butter or almond butter) and is also the perfect sweet post-dinner treat.

These look delicious! I will need to try to get some Canadian maples syrup so I can make these this fall! I love that you can put all the ingredients in one bowl and don’t need a mixer. I love baking but hate the clean-up:)
I’ve been craving pumpkin bread and almost made some today. Might have to add it to my to-do list for tomorrow. 🙂
Well what a shame I happen to have some maple syrup from our trip to Vermont waiting to be transformed! 😉
Thanks!
I am making this bread right now. Can’t wait to try it!!
Yay! Hope you love it!
One can never go wrong with Canadian maple syrup, though I might be a little biased 😉 I always have a litre jug of it in my fridge, I use it in everything.
This pumpkin loaf looks quite delightful, looking forward to trying it out.
Yum!! I totally want some of this.
Ugh, this looks divine (and healthful, too!) I might make some and throw in some raisins for good measure.
I think raisins would be an amazing addition!
Ooooh I am definitely going to try this! I LOVE baking but need to stop baking cookies… this looks like a healthier alternative 🙂 Thanks for the recipe, Julie!!
Are you not gluten free anymore?
I’ve never been gluten free. I think you may have me confused with someone else. 🙂
I love pumpkin bread! This recipe looks super easy. Going to try it out next week. Thanks for sharing!
Mmm… look delish! I’m going to veganize it by using a couple flax eggs. Glass jar maple leaves filled with maple syrup always make me smile!
Yum! That looks great. I’ve been wanting a reason to get some real maple syrup. There’s definitley a huge price dofference between that and the cheap, high fructose corn syrup stuff. Love the pumpkin towels ( : so cute!
Yup I pretty much want to make this right now! Any kind of pumpkin bread is right up my alley!
There’s something about fall that makes me want to bake bread! That little maple syrup jar is so cute!
Yum! I can’t wait to make this gluten free!
Ah this sounds delicious! I LOVE maple flavor!
Sounds delicious! I love maple flavors in the fall!
Julie, this recipe sounds amazing! Do you think you could use old fashioned oats instead of instant oats?
YUM! I think I’m getting overwhelmed by all the pumpkin options out right now. I’m on overload!
Just made this and I’m so happy with it. It smells divine and tastes just delicious, has the perfect amount of spice and I especially love the ground cloves in it. I’ll be making this regularly, to be sure, and can’t wait to have a slice with my coffee in the morning. Thank you for this little bit of heaven.
I am so glad you liked it!! <3
