24 Week Prenatal Appointment + 30 Minute Workout

April 21, 2015 by Julie 44 Comments

Hello, hello! I hope your afternoon is shaping up nicely so far!

After a month away from the OB/GYN’s office, I was more than ready to head back in today for our 24-week prenatal appointment.

24 weeks pregnant

(24 week bump photo from this weekend!)

Though our ultrasounds are apparently all done now, I got the next best thing today: I got to hear our baby’s heartbeat! It sounded amazing and I could hear it nice and strong the minute the nurse put the monitor on my belly. 136 bpm!

When the doctor came in, he was great about answering the myriad of questions I had for him. He then measured my belly and sent me on my way! I made sure to call Ryan right after my appointment (he missed this one because he had an appointment at the same time to get fitted for a brace following his ACL surgery tomorrow) and he shared in my excitement. After last Monday’s anxiety, hearing our little one’s heartbeat again was so reassuring. Though I am feeling him move daily, there’s something about that thump, thump, thump that is magic to a mother-to-be’s ears.

After my doctor’s appointment, I had just enough time to pop into Chipotle and Starbucks to grab a burrito bowl and a decaf cinnamon dolce latte before I had to be back at work to sub a boot camp class.

(Chipotle is everything to me right now… I want it all day every day.)

Here’s the workout I put together last night for today’s class:

30 Minute Circuit Workout

The class I subbed for today is a 45 minute class, so we completed this workout in addition to a warm up, some body weight exercises and a cool down (stretching) to round everything out. (FYI since this is a question I often receive: I did not complete the actual boot camp portion of the class with everyone and simply demoed everything and corrected form. It’s a workout that’s right up my alley though!)

Here are links to demos of some of the exercises:

  • Froggers (just omit the tricep pushup)
  • Spiderman Plank
  • Stability Ball Roll-Ins
  • Bosu Burpees

And now it’s off to Girls On The Run for our practice 5K!! I’m pumped!

Be sure to follow PBFingers on Instagram and Facebook!

I'd love to connect with you! I am always so grateful when you let me know you tried one of my recipes or workouts and tag me in your photos or updates. Thank you so much!!!

I just can’t get over the amount of energy you’ve had to workout throughout your pregnancy! I am lucky if I get a walk in after work! You go girl!! (insert fist bump emoji)

Funny about adding jump rope to a routine… In following a program that calls for a jump rope… So I purchased one and thought it would bring back some good memories… But I was SO embarassed it literally took me 10 attempts before I could get going! Thankfully no one else was at my small gym at that time- hah!

Glad to hear your baby so healthy! Love your updates 🙂

Ps chiptole is everything to me too. No pregnancy needed.

Ha I read through the workout and imagined you demoing the froggers while you are all pregnant. Looks like a good workout and I will have to try it out! Similar to the types that I teach and I definitely love me some bootcamps!

Glad the appointment went well! Did you not get see pictures, too? My 24-week appt is next week and the ultrasound is done on a 3-D device that allows you to see pretty much everything — even the baby’s face. Crazy!

So glad to hear your appointment went well! I’m with you…hearing that thump, thump, thump is the best ever. It’s always so reassuring and makes me smile. We have our next appointment in a little less than two weeks. It’ll be our anatomy scan and when we’ll find out the gender, and I can hardly wait! It seems like an eternity away. 😉

So sorry to hear about Ryan’s surgery 🙁 At least he will be fully healed by the time the little one comes! I love this kind of workout. I am still teaching my classes, but we do it all with them. There are some exercises I simply modify the heck out of and make sure others are doing it correctly. I point out just because I’m pregnant and slacking doesn’t mean they are! haha

Coffee has been hard to resist, I have been treating myself once a week with an actual coffee drink and during the week it is decafe or 1/2 caff…

My fiance torn his ACL last year! We are both very active so it was disappointing to say the least. With A LOT of physical therapy he bounced back quickly. He says his knee feels stronger than ever. Good luck!

I’m not a mom or even expecting myself, but I can totally see how I’d have a million questions to my doctor as well. I’m sure they are so used to it. Great to hear that the baby boy is doing good and hope Ryan’s surgery goes well too!

I LOVED hearing London’s heartbeat at doctor’s appointments. I also booked a 3D ultrasound at 29 weeks so I could get another peek at him. It was so cool! Do you guys have access to that in your area?

Girl, I 100% understand. I felt like those 4 weeks in between the early appointments were SO LONG! Even though I knew he was still doing well in there, thanks to all the kicks and flips during the day, there is still something so reassuring about actually hearing the heartbeat and having a doctor confirm that he is growing in there!

Although I will say, now that I’m at 34/35 weeks and am going every week, hearing the heartbeat so much just makes me want him to get here already!! I’m tired of listening to him – I want to actually meet him!! 🙂

Whoaaa I call this the CHIPOTLE CONSPIRACY! It’s so funny how my friend, you, myself, and a bunch of other pregnant bloggers adore chipotle during pregnancy. It must be the tang and bold flavors that do the trick, no? 😉 I don’t know if you’ve tried Pho before, but that was my 1st favorite food of all when I was pregnant <33

there’s definitely some bumpage going on there lady! good things come to those who wait! Do you find your bump is bigger by the evenings? I do!

I’m impressed you’re able to jump rope still. Jump rope was my go to cardio before pregnancy but like running I just can’t handle the pressure…err…down below… anymore. Sounds grim but sometimes walking can make me feel uncomfortable in that way especially if baby is sitting low and wriggling about (s/he’s doing exactly that this morning! It’s too reassuring to be annoying though 🙂 )

totally with you on the reassuring thumping. I feel so anxious if s/he sleeps for a while and does nothing and I will gladly sit quietly for an hour in the evening just holding out for a couple of taps. it’s like pure gold!

I had my 31 week apt yesterday! Around 28 weeks, my midwife was able to feel pinpoint how my baby is laying in my stomach. His head has been face down and his little back is on my left side and his little feet are kicking at my ribs! haha.. I have my baby shower this weekend and cannot wait to celebrate!
Glad you had a good appt, hearing the heartbeat is music to my ears:) I love it.
