I’m not going to lie, it’s a little hard to hear some of my favorite group exercise songs when I’m walking since it makes me want to work up a serious sweat and get back to teaching, but I know it’s important to give my body time to recover right now and the gym will always be there once I’m in a better place to kick up my fitness regimen again. All in good time, right!?
In the meantime, I hope this post gives you guys some ideas for upbeat songs that you might want to add to your next workout playlist. I’ve compiled 10 of my favorite workout playlists that I’ve previously shared on the blog and put them in one spot for easy reference! Hopefully a few songs will jump out at you an help invigorate your next sweat session. Enjoy!

The gym will always be there for you! My current favorite music for running is Yellow Claw- its a trio from Netherlands and it’s perfect for working out!

Awesome job staying active but not too active after having Chase (who is adorable!). While not the same thing as giving birth, I hurt my knee and my exercise is restricted right now. I find it hard to not go full force as well, when my head and the rest of my body want to so badly! Thanks for sharing the playlist! I can’t wait to be able to use them when I get back to regular exercise!
Julie says
I hope you recover fast from your injury, Jen!

I would love to see a post about what your first few days with Chase were/are now like – I know you did one already, but I’d love to see kind of what your “schedule” looks like with your newborn 🙂 I know it changes everyday, and will for several weeks though! Also, my go-to for finding playlist songs is often on Spotify’s new music lists, I am always scoping them out when I have free time at work 🙂

I sometimes get stuck in a rut with my music and listen to the same songs over and over, so I am loving all these new ideas! My current favorite song is “chandelier” by Sia Shaun. I did a workout to it this morning!

While I listen to plenty of music my default songs for my running mix for the last several years has been as follows (the beats and timing help me stay motivated, as well as change intervals):
Black Eyed Peas – Pump It
Britney Spears – Piece of Me
Britney Spears – Break the Ice
Flo-Rida – In The Ayer
Justin Timberlake – SexyBack
Kanye West – Stronger
Kevin Rudolf – Let It Rock
Lil Mama – Shawty Get Loose
Ludacris – Money Maker
Metro Station – Shake It
Black Eye Peas – Let’s Get It Started
Black Eye Peas – Don’t Lie
Lady Gaga – Just Dance
Coldplay – Viva la Vida
Avril Lavigne – What The Hell
Kelly Clarkson – Stronger
Kanye West – Gold Digger
Fergie – Glamorous
I saw plenty of songs above that I need to listen to again to think about adding to my playlist. 🙂 Can’t wait to check them out!

Have you read things about working out and breastfeeding. If you are doing intense workouts, lactic acid can form in your breast milk and your baby may refuse it. You have all the time in the world to workout! Don’t rush to get back to it. I worried a lot after my baby was born..certain foods and medicines can come through your breast milk and pass on to your baby. I was overly cautious but I didn’t want to take any risks. Good luck hope Chase is getting big!
Patricia @Sweet And Strong says
Love that you have a mix of older and newer songs. I love when an older song comes on my iPod mid run because I had forgotten how much I love it. Currently I am obsessed with Galantis Peanut Butter Jelly, it’s super upbeat and I find myself dancing to it (when I’m working out in the garage, not in public, haha)
Rachel @ Simply Rachel Nicole says
I love “Don’t Fail Me Now”. You suggested it a couple of yeas ago and I have loved it ever since 🙂
Ashley Caspary says
All in good time, indeed! Take all the time you need to recover. I know it’s a standard 6 week postpartum dr visit that clears us, but do not be surprised if you don’t feel completely back to normal by then. It takes time. It can take months…that’s something no one tells you. I didn’t go for a run until 9 weeks pp. It just didn’t feel right for me until then. And, it took more time for other things to feel normal again, too. (not going to go into TMI territory) I’m sure you feel pressure to get back into it being a healthy living blogger and instructor, but take your time. It’s worth it 🙂

Julie, you should put together a “Julie Fagan Spotify Channel” with all of these playlists on them so we can all easily access the music 🙂
