Hello, hello! I hope your afternoon is shaping up nicely so far!
After a month away from the OB/GYN’s office, I was more than ready to head back in today for our 24-week prenatal appointment.
(24 week bump photo from this weekend!)
Though our ultrasounds are apparently all done now, I got the next best thing today: I got to hear our baby’s heartbeat! It sounded amazing and I could hear it nice and strong the minute the nurse put the monitor on my belly. 136 bpm!
When the doctor came in, he was great about answering the myriad of questions I had for him. He then measured my belly and sent me on my way! I made sure to call Ryan right after my appointment (he missed this one because he had an appointment at the same time to get fitted for a brace following his ACL surgery tomorrow) and he shared in my excitement. After last Monday’s anxiety, hearing our little one’s heartbeat again was so reassuring. Though I am feeling him move daily, there’s something about that thump, thump, thump that is magic to a mother-to-be’s ears.
After my doctor’s appointment, I had just enough time to pop into Chipotle and Starbucks to grab a burrito bowl and a decaf cinnamon dolce latte before I had to be back at work to sub a boot camp class.
(Chipotle is everything to me right now… I want it all day every day.)
Here’s the workout I put together last night for today’s class:
The class I subbed for today is a 45 minute class, so we completed this workout in addition to a warm up, some body weight exercises and a cool down (stretching) to round everything out. (FYI since this is a question I often receive: I did not complete the actual boot camp portion of the class with everyone and simply demoed everything and corrected form. It’s a workout that’s right up my alley though!)
Here are links to demos of some of the exercises:
- Froggers (just omit the tricep pushup)
- Spiderman Plank
- Stability Ball Roll-Ins
- Bosu Burpees
And now it’s off to Girls On The Run for our practice 5K!! I’m pumped!
Sarah @ Sweet Miles says
I just can’t get over the amount of energy you’ve had to workout throughout your pregnancy! I am lucky if I get a walk in after work! You go girl!! (insert fist bump emoji)
Julie says
I did not do this work out with the class… Spinning this morning was enough for me! Thank you for your compliment though!!
molly @ there goes molly rose says
Funny about adding jump rope to a routine… In following a program that calls for a jump rope… So I purchased one and thought it would bring back some good memories… But I was SO embarassed it literally took me 10 attempts before I could get going! Thankfully no one else was at my small gym at that time- hah!
Glad to hear your baby so healthy! Love your updates 🙂
Ps chiptole is everything to me too. No pregnancy needed.
Erin @ Erin's Inside Job says
Ha I read through the workout and imagined you demoing the froggers while you are all pregnant. Looks like a good workout and I will have to try it out! Similar to the types that I teach and I definitely love me some bootcamps!
Julie says
🙂 haha!
Erin @ Her Heartland Soul says
Loving your bump! So glad to hear everything went well at your appointment!!
Lillian says
Congrats on the appointment! Also – I unfortunately have been through ACL surgeries on BOTH knees so feel free to ask any questions about post-op :)) It’s the club everyone is (reluctantly!) joining!
Lyndsie says
What is it about Chipotle??? I wanted it all the time during my pregnancy!!
Ellen @ Wannabe Health Nut says
Glad the appointment went well! Did you not get see pictures, too? My 24-week appt is next week and the ultrasound is done on a 3-D device that allows you to see pretty much everything — even the baby’s face. Crazy!
Ellen @ Wannabe Health Nut says
OOPS! I have my 20-week appt next week! Pregnancy brain. 🙂
Ashley @ My Food N Fitness Diaries says
So glad to hear your appointment went well! I’m with you…hearing that thump, thump, thump is the best ever. It’s always so reassuring and makes me smile. We have our next appointment in a little less than two weeks. It’ll be our anatomy scan and when we’ll find out the gender, and I can hardly wait! It seems like an eternity away. 😉
Jennifer Keller says
You look great!!! So happy you got to hear your little guy’s strong heartbeat! 🙂 Hope everything goes well with Ryan’s surgery (I am sure it will)!!
I’m not even pregnant and could do Chipotle everyday!! lol
Heather @Fit n Cookies says
So sorry to hear about Ryan’s surgery 🙁 At least he will be fully healed by the time the little one comes! I love this kind of workout. I am still teaching my classes, but we do it all with them. There are some exercises I simply modify the heck out of and make sure others are doing it correctly. I point out just because I’m pregnant and slacking doesn’t mean they are! haha
Ellen @ My Uncommon Everyday says
Haha I want Chipotle all day, every day and I’m definitely not pregnant – it’s just fabulous 🙂 So glad your appointment went well!
Danica @ It's Progression says
I love going to our midwife appointments because, just like you said, it’s SO reassuring to hear that little, fast-paced heartbeat! I just leave the office feeling so relieved and excited – I love it!
Hayley @ Full of Life says
So exciting hearing the heartbeat – I bet that’s the best feeling. I am really curious what your top name is!! I love thinking of my future baby names haha
Fiona @ Get Fit Fiona says
That salad looks great. I’m glad to hear the baby is doing well!
B says
We are due like 3 days apart and I go for my 24 week check up tomorow–Cant wait to hear my babe! And thanks for the heads up on a decaf cinnamon dolce latte–didnt know they had that there!!! Coffee has been hard to resist, I have been treating myself once a week with an actual coffee drink and during the week it is decafe or 1/2 caff…
Adriann says
My fiance torn his ACL last year! We are both very active so it was disappointing to say the least. With A LOT of physical therapy he bounced back quickly. He says his knee feels stronger than ever. Good luck!
Kersten @fitandtasty180.com says
I’m not a mom or even expecting myself, but I can totally see how I’d have a million questions to my doctor as well. I’m sure they are so used to it. Great to hear that the baby boy is doing good and hope Ryan’s surgery goes well too!
Liz @ I Heart Vegetables says
You look so cute!! I’ve been craving chipotle too but I can’t blame it on anything 😉 I got a bowl last night and it was SO good!
Lauren @ The Bikini Experiment says
So glad you got to hear the heartbeat! That’s so exciting. Looks like a tough workout for your class. Those stability ball roll in are always killer.
Brittany @ Lemon Lime Life says
And now I’m craving Chipotle! But to be fair, I crave it almost everyday anyways! 🙂
Kaella (KaellaOnTheRun) says
I LOVED hearing London’s heartbeat at doctor’s appointments. I also booked a 3D ultrasound at 29 weeks so I could get another peek at him. It was so cool! Do you guys have access to that in your area?
Stephanie @ My Freckled Life says
Girl, I 100% understand. I felt like those 4 weeks in between the early appointments were SO LONG! Even though I knew he was still doing well in there, thanks to all the kicks and flips during the day, there is still something so reassuring about actually hearing the heartbeat and having a doctor confirm that he is growing in there!
Although I will say, now that I’m at 34/35 weeks and am going every week, hearing the heartbeat so much just makes me want him to get here already!! I’m tired of listening to him – I want to actually meet him!! 🙂
Sarah @ Sarah Sincerely says
I know you are so relieved about a great doctor’s appointment! So glad your little guy seems to be doing great!
Courtney {Alkeks Abroad} says
I am so jealous of your chipotle, that’s what I miss most about living in the states! I’m loving all your pregnancy updates!
Julia @ Lord Still Loves Me says
That’s great that you are keeping up with your fitness during pregnancy! I have never been around anyone who was pregnant for a long amount of time, so I always enjoy following along when bloggers document their pregnancy!
Melanie says
It must feel so amazing to hear the heartbeat!! So cool.
now I really want a burrito bowl… 🙂
Cecilia @ MommiesRun says
You are just the cutest preggo! I am so amazed at the energy you continue to have teaching classes! Continued wishes for a healthy pregnancy!
ellie | fit for the soul says
Whoaaa I call this the CHIPOTLE CONSPIRACY! It’s so funny how my friend, you, myself, and a bunch of other pregnant bloggers adore chipotle during pregnancy. It must be the tang and bold flavors that do the trick, no? 😉 I don’t know if you’ve tried Pho before, but that was my 1st favorite food of all when I was pregnant <33
Julie says
I cannot get enough of it lately!! I had it for lunch yesterday and had I not been too lazy to drive to Chipotle again, I totally would’ve had it for dinner, too. LOVE!
Brittany says
Pinning this workout! Thanks for always keeping my workouts fresh!
Rebecca says
Hey! I just had to tell you I read this post at the end of the day when I was dreading going to the gym after work, but I saw this workout and decided to change things up and it was just the motivation I needed! It definitely kicked my butt (oh so much), but I felt great after. Thanks for sharing!!
Annette Perkins (@FitnessPerks) says
Yay for hearing the heartbeat! Such a great sound that just makes me swoon to know there is a legit baby in there! <3 Glad to hear it was a good appt. And that workout looks fab!
Torry @ A World Without Wheat says
I am so glad to hear that things are going well after last week with the little one 🙂
Brooklyn says
This preggo is also forever dreaming of chipotle. Oh man. Also guacamole. Ok I’m drooling.
Nicole W. says
Not to get your hopes up, because I am not from your area, but you may/should get another ultrasound around 36 weeks to make sure he is head down. : )
Courtney Bentley says
OMG you make such a cute pregnant lady!! SO cute!! I love this workout and thanks for the bosu burpee idea!! xo C
Goldie says
there’s definitely some bumpage going on there lady! good things come to those who wait! Do you find your bump is bigger by the evenings? I do!
I’m impressed you’re able to jump rope still. Jump rope was my go to cardio before pregnancy but like running I just can’t handle the pressure…err…down below… anymore. Sounds grim but sometimes walking can make me feel uncomfortable in that way especially if baby is sitting low and wriggling about (s/he’s doing exactly that this morning! It’s too reassuring to be annoying though 🙂 )
totally with you on the reassuring thumping. I feel so anxious if s/he sleeps for a while and does nothing and I will gladly sit quietly for an hour in the evening just holding out for a couple of taps. it’s like pure gold!
Faith VanderMolen says
I was in need of a quick workout today so this is happening! Thanks for including the links to some of the less popular exercises…just what I needed!
eliza says
I had my 31 week apt yesterday! Around 28 weeks, my midwife was able to feel pinpoint how my baby is laying in my stomach. His head has been face down and his little back is on my left side and his little feet are kicking at my ribs! haha.. I have my baby shower this weekend and cannot wait to celebrate!
Glad you had a good appt, hearing the heartbeat is music to my ears:) I love it.
So happy everything is going well for you!
Domi says
So glad everything went well at the doc today! (Went back and read what was up on Monday – yikes! Don’t blame ya for being anxious <3)
Pinned this workout and cannot wait to try it. I love workouts that have a little bit of everything and a lot of sweat 🙂
Anna says
Chipotle is everything to me all day every day. I love it oh so much! I wish they delivered. Although, maybe I don’t…..
