Whoa baby. What a workout this morning! Phew.
Yesterday evening, as I was perusing blogs, I came across an interval workout on Holly’s blog that really intrigued me. I printed off her workout and tucked it into my mini gym bag and awoke this morning feeling inspired to give it a go.
I hopped on a treadmill next to Ryan (seriously loving his new initiative to do more cardio) and started my workout with some incline walking before hunkering down and blasting through Holly’s workout.
Though Ryan and I usually talk when we do our side-by-side cardio (he does 20 minutes and then heads to the weight room), today I was all business.
In the end I spent 30 minutes on the treadmill that looked like this:
Minutes | Incline | Speed |
0-5 | 8.0 | 4.0 |
5-8 | 1.0 | 6.5 |
8 – 8:30 | 1.0 | 9.0 |
8:30 – 9:30 | 1.0 | 6.5 |
9:30 – 10 | 1.0 | 9.1 |
10 – 11 | 1.0 | 6.5 |
11 – 11:30 | 1.0 | 9.2 |
11:30 – 12:30 | 1.0 | 6.0 |
12:30 – 13 | 1.0 | 9.3 |
13 – 14 | 1.0 | 6.0 |
14 – 14:30 | 1.0 | 9.4 |
14:30 – 15:30 | 1.0 | 6.0 |
15:30 – 16 | 1.0 | 9.5 |
16 – 17 | 1.0 | 6.0 |
17 – 17:30 | 1.0 | 9.6 |
17:30 – 18:30 | 1.0 | 6.0 |
18:30 – 19 | 1.0 | 9.7 |
19 – 20 | 1.0 | 6.0 |
20 – 20:30 | 1.0 | 9.8 |
20:30 – 21:30 | 1.0 | 6.0 |
21:30 – 22 | 1.0 | 9.9 |
22 – 23 | 1.0 | 6.0 |
23 – 23:30 | 1.0 | 10.0 |
23:30 – 25 | 1.0 | 6.0 |
25 – 30 | 8.0 | 4.0 |
I was a hot mess by the time this workout was over. It ranks right up there with the incline workout of death in terms of difficulty.
Thankfully, I swiped on some Degree motion sense deodorant that the company sent to me to try out before heading to the gym. (I’m not sure what they’re trying to tell me about my hygiene…)
The deodorant kept my little pits smelling so fresh and so clean the whole time. (Ain’t nobody dope as me, I’m just so fresh, so clean! Gotta love throwback Outkast.) Honestly, I really liked the smell of this stuff. It was feminine and light without being too floral or nauseating.
Since I wanted to walk home from the gym with Ryan, I rounded out my workout by peddling lightly on the elliptical for another 20 minutes while I waited for him to finish his workout.
Breakfast
Once I arrived home, I took Sadie on a quick 20 minute walk before making a beeline for the kitchen to down a big bowl of overnight oats that awaited me in the fridge.
This batch of overnight oats included:
- 1/4 c. old fashioned oatmeal
- 1/2 scoop chocolate peanut butter cup protein powder (I use All the Whey)
- 1/2 c. almond milk
- Chia seeds (probably close to 2 tbsp.)
- 1 frozen banana, cut into pieces
This was a winning combination fo’ sho’! I was happy to sneak some extra protein into this morning’s bowl and loved the flavor and creaminess that the banana added to the mix. The banana was key in this bowl!
I ate my breakfast as I blogged this little post!
Eating + blogging… I catch myself doing this an awful lot.
Time to grab my lunch and head out the door. Today is like my Friday, as I am taking tomorrow off from work to head to Ft. Myers for our friends’ wedding! I’m not sure what my time constraints will be over the weekend, but if any of you guys live in the Ft. Myers area and are interested in a blogger meet up, please shoot me an email at pbfingers@gmail.com and we’ll see if we can set something up.
Enjoy your Thursday!
oh my goodness…6.5 is hard for me! I couldn’t even imagine doing up to 9 or 10, I’m pretty sure I would literally fly off the treadmill lol! =P
Haha my sister says the same thing. She thinks her legs are going to fly off!
holy hot DANG! that 10 and those 9’s are KILLLER- i MIGHT be brave enough to try this… MIGHT
I love weddings! They’re so much fun. My friends need to start getting married faster 🙂 I blog and eat breakfast almost every morning too!
I’m curious: does anyone give you strange looks when you take pictures in the gym? What about in your office?
At the gym I take pics with my phone a lot but when I use my camera I generally wait until no one is around. At work, my desk is a bit hidden so no one seems to notice or if they do, they don’t seem to care. 🙂
What a yummy looking breakfast! Weddings are the best. I love attending them. 🙂
Oh, and I eat breakfast and blog every morning too! 🙂
I am a eat-and-blog at the same time kind of girl too. The workout sounds great! I had a long distance run planned for this morning (and I’m pleased to report I did it all!) but I think I might hit up some intervals like yours tomorrow!
That workout looks crazy!
Why am I not surprised that you have choc peanut butter cup protein powder? (I need to find that!)
I’m always eating a blogging at the same time. There should be a club,
YAY! So glad you liked the run 🙂 I loved it- was a bit crazy there on the 10s..but definitely a good workout!
It’s my Friday too- Bachelorette party starts tonight! WOOHOO 😀 I hope you have a wonderful time at the wedding this weekend- take lots of pictures 🙂
Your workouts are honestly some of my favorites! I hope your bachelorette party is amazing!
I LOVE Holly’s blog 🙂 That looks like an amazing workout – I always get bored with cardio but that looks pumped UP yo!
Enjoy your day and yay for yummy pits!
I seriously don’t understand how you have the time to do everything you do. You must get up at 5am!
haha… today i was up at 5:05 a.m. i gotta cram in a lot before i go to work!
UM 10… I’d definitely fly off. I’m always blogging and eating dinner 🙂 Lucky for you it’s Friday – definitely jealous!! Have fun 😀
LOL @ “I’m not sure what they’re trying to tell me about my hygeine.” hahahah!
that workout looks INTENSE… you can run super fast! And Ft. Myers… is that in FL? There’s one up near DC too!
ft. myers, fl. i would LOVE to visit DC though!
What an awesome workout. I saw your tweet this morning so I knew this was going to be good!!
Can’t wait to see what your wedding ensemble will look like!
Those oats look so good… I have to get some protein powder! Does it make the oatmeal have a weird taste tho? Oh and I always eat and blog!! 🙂
no, it’s pretty good! definitely worth a try. plus, oatmeal is cheap, so if you hate it, it only cost like $0.15! 🙂
Sigh! I remember when I could buy cheap oats. Dang expensive gluten-free oats. I have stuck with my usual recipe for a long time because I’m so afraid of waste.
I am not a blogger… but I would come to a meet up!
I need to do this workout soon! I’ve started to love intervals. Thanks for posting workouts from other bloggers – now I have more blogs to read daily!
Wow- that’s an intense interval workout! Once this baby comes, I’m anxious to try some of your workouts! 🙂
That workout sounds BEAST! 10 mph? I’d pass out on the spot!
I tried your 25 minute interval workout from a few weeks ago and think I’ll stick to that one for now! =)
crazy workout 🙂 and delish oats!!
Maybe I should learn to eat and blog , I never thought of it. Multi-tasking baby!
I am def. gonna have to give that tredmill workout a try! I love trying new and challenging workouts, you feel so great once its completed. I also need to try overnight oats, it looks so delicious and filling!
Intense speed you got going on there– good for you!!
Have a good one 🙂

Why are interval workouts on the treadmill just the best??? I guess I just feel like I get a lot of bang for my buck when I do them. Tonight I’m supposed to meet up with my running group for 10 400 meter repeats, but I’d almost rather try this out! Decisions decisions.
Honestly I don’t know if I could do 10mph… I do a HIIT workout my husband found online, and the max speed on that is 9pm and for THAT I’m struggling, arms pumping faster than ever, I feel like I could fly. But I’m intrigued to try this one, once I can take my medical boot off (boo for bad ankle sprains!)…
Do you take any supplements? I know you use protein powder, but I was wondering if you use any other products, like AmiN.O. or anything like that. Does Ryan use anything other than protein powder?
we both take multivitamins and i take a calcium + vitamin d supplement, but that’s it!
Love the cute bowl your overnight oats were in! I love eating out of bowls/plates that are different…makes eating a little more fun! Corny I know—LOL
thanks! it was my grandma’s!
My grandma has those bowls too! They must have been the jam back in they day–still super cute too! 🙂
Digging your blog!!! You are beautiful and write so well!!! Overnight oats for me as well–2 mornings—due to your encouragement!! I was wondering how much chia seed to add. I put almost 1T. In mine this a.m. I need to research their nut. Value. Hugs–e
thanks so much! i used between 1 and 2 tbsp. of chia seeds. i like a lot of ’em in my bowl!
Looks like an awesome interval workout….I might have to try it! Have a great time this weekend…weddings are so much fun! 🙂
I love a quick and sweaty workout! So nice today is your friday ; )
I may have to try this interval workout! Whenever I do intervals on the TM, times flies by! The “10” is a little intimidating but it’s only for 30 seconds, right? Ha, I say that now…
How many miles did you complete during those 30min?
i’m really not sure. i totally forgot to look!
What a killer workout! 😀 Nice job!
That does sound intense! Especially with the breathing difficulties caused by my beans. 😉
LOL
I have been missing oats like crazy over here (in Rome). Your breakfast looks delicious, so I’m definitely going to have to try that when I get home, but I’m semi-weirded out by chia seeds! I’ve never tried them — what kind of flavor (if any) do they give the oatmeal, or are they more for the “crunch/texture” factor?
i LOVE chia seeds! they add a very slight crunch to the oats (in a good way) and don’t really have a flavor. i eat them for the healthy fats. definitely worth a try.
Holy cardio Julie! That sounds like a fun shweaty workout 🙂
The All the Whey website says it’s closed for restructuring or something… is it safe to order from there or is there somewhere else to get it?
That oatmeal looks yum!
try netrition.com!
I wish I loved cardio as much as you! That interval workout seems awesome!
Geez, I want to try this workout, but I’m afraid, haha!
I keep telling myself that I need to make overnight oats, argh!! I always forget…
I always eat and blog 😀
That workout really looks hard, I’m not sure if I could get through all 30 min!
Looks like an awesome workout. I’ll def have to try it!
Hope your ‘Friday’ is flying by — always the slowest days when you’re really looking forward to something!
What a CRAZY workout! I’m exhausted just THINKING about it!
Along the same lines as your deodorant concern…I had quickly stopped in the grocery store a few nights ago, post treadmill-workout (so basically I was a sweaty MESS) and the coupon generator printed off a coupon for Men’s Clinical Strength deodorant. I honestly felt like the machine was trying to tell me something about my smell! 😉
looks like a fun & sweaty work out! i also enjoyed some bananas and chia seeds in my breakfast this morning. yummy!
interval workouts are the bestests! Do you get funny looks when you take pictures at the gym??
see answer to comment #4!
10!!?!?! How tall are you?? 5’7? I’m not sure my legs could go that fast!
How far is the gym from your house?
i’m almost 5’7”. i was definitely haulin’ ass!
You look like you are getting a nice tan!
thanks… but i also “brightened” the pic through windows live writer. it helps a bit w/ my coloring! 🙂
I’ve gone up to 10 on the treadmill a handful of times and it is TOUGH!! That sounds like such a great workout! Now if only I could get my legs to move that fast when I’m outside and the fear of falling off isn’t an issue…
Sounds like a great workout! I love the variety. Very cool!
mmmm love that treadmill workout!! hot sweaty mess = awesomeness 🙂
Nice job on that workout! Sounds like a toughy but gotta love those! 🙂
