Check out today’s 55-minute Treadmill Incline Walk/Run Workout!
This morning when I arrived at the gym, I figured I’d complete a cardio hodgepodge workout and jump from machine to machine. In the end, I decided to play around with the incline and speed on the treadmill to fight boredom and completed a 55-minute incline walk/run workout.
If you think incline walking is a joke, think again! I honestly felt like running at a 6.5 was easier than haulin’ hiney at at 12.0 incline.
The workout only includes 15 total minutes of running but the running is spread out throughout the workout, so if you’re not a big fan of running on the treadmill, this workout doesn’t include a ton of it!
More treadmill workouts:
- 25 Minute Interval Workout
- 45 Minute “Make Your Face Sweat” Workout
- 25 Minute Treadmill Walking Workout
- You Pick: 15 or 30 Minute Incline Walking Workout
Breakfast
When I arrived home, breakfast was waiting for me in the fridge.
Last night I prepped a bowl of overnight oats, but also added some cooked barley and quinoa to the mix since I ran out of oats.
Breakfast has looked better, that’s for sure, but it was nice and filling.
Hope you have a great Thursday! (Does it feel like Friday to anyone else???)

since it’s raining out today in Texas, I’m definitely going to try that on our treadmill this afternoon!

Oh, that’s a great idea to mix in some other grains into over night oats. I always just stick with the simple oats/oat bran, but never think to mix it up with other grains, even though I’ve tried savory oats…might as well try sweet grains.
That looks like a fun walking workout. The only way I’ll get on a treadmill is to walk, I just hate running. I like this one! Especially for the incline.

Thanks for the workout. I love running, and I love walking. Yet nothing really shapes my legs like run/walking. 🙂
kendra @ http://www.kennygump.com/ says
i totally agree that walking at an incline is way tougher. that’s probably why i never do it. but it works different muscles so props to you!
Katie @ running4cupcakes says
It totally feels like Friday to me too – if only it was. . . oh well. I agree that running is way easier than incline walking – that is no joke!
Melissa @ Freeing Imperfections says
I am obsessed with incline walks now. They are such a good workout too! I’ll definitely be trying this one 🙂
Ashley @ Life and Fitness says
I’m def. going to give this a try because I don’t like long distance running so this will be a nice mix. I love incline walking for a good workout.
Laurel says
I haven’t know what day it is, for days.

It totally feels like friday to me too!!!! Cold & rainy here in Texas.
Sarah@Making Thyme for Health says
Ugh, I wish it were Friday! Treadmill workout with varying intervals always make the time go by faster. I love that this combine walking and running, too. 🙂
Kaitlin @4loveofcarrots says
awesome workout! I definitely woke up thinking it was Friday. Such a disappointment to discover otherwise!
Rachel @ Undercover Diva: A Sitcom says
Thursdays are my Fridays 😀 I’m a lucky girl
Nicole says
Speaking of fighting boredom on the treadmill.. I’d love to hear what you for ‘machine distractions’ – an iPod playlist you’d share? or a magazine? or watching TV?
I tend to get bored quickly without distractions. 😉
Rebekah says
I love the tredmill workouts you post! Thanks! Also…so funny I added quinoa to my oats today too.
Meghan @ After the Ivy League says
Cardio hodgepodge workouts are the best! I love the combo of incline walking and running. I’m trying to run more in the next few weeks since I have a little 5k coming up, and for the life of me I cannot run at a steady speed on the treadmill. I have to change the speeds up and down, left and right in order to keep myself interested and keep in line with my breathing. I wish I was one of those runners who could just zone out!
Lindsay says
Great workout, and those inclines are no joke. I definitely thought it was Friday when I woke up. Can’t wait for the weekend 🙂
Amanda @ Romancing the Unusual says
Looks like a great workout! I am such a baby when it comes to inclines, though.
This week has drug on and on! Friday can not get here fast enough!
Lyric says
It totally feels like friday! That could be because I have the day off tomorrow yay! I have never thought to add in other grains to my oats but I think barley would taste a lot like steel cut oats!
Megan says
Nice treadmill workout! I have been using the treadmill for all my speed work outs lately. I hate being on it but it makes me get the runs done faster and that way I’m not dodging carss!
Dawn says
Great workout. I went through a phase where I was walking on a steep incline everyday and to be honest it started to kill my lower back, make sure to stretch correctly after! I’ve now since switched it up to running some days and incline walking on others and my back feels so much better.
Great blog by the way, I just started reading! : )

Ahh this workout has me so ready to get back to the gym, soon as my doctor gives the green light. I’ve been unable to workout bc of foot surgery I had last month!
Lauren @ Eat Like An Elephant says
Love your incline walking workouts. They really come in handy days I don’t have a ton of motivation to get going, but wind up giving me a great workout!
Kathleen@newversionofme says
Look like my kind of workout! I really need variety to stay focused. Wish I had access to a treadmill!! How do you put the tables with the workouts in your blog?

I’m so glad there is someone else out there that jumps from machine to machine to prevent boredom! It’s my favorite workout!

I get bored very quickly when doing cardio, so hosgepodge is a favorite of mine!
Lauren says
I’ve been feeling inclined (ha, no pun intended) to change up my treadmill routine! This sounds perfect! Thanks for sharing as always!
Kelly @ Runmarun says
Thanks for sharing this! I am 20 weeks pregnant and won’t be able to run for much longer so workouts like this one will be perfect when that time comes. 🙂
Annette@FitnessPerks says
Incline walking is super tough–sooo true!!
Christina Nickles says
I found myself “racing” against the girl next to me a few days ago, found that I just can’t help myself, lol
Anyone with me on this? haha!
Kate @ Quarter Century Southern Living says
12 incline, I am impressed! I love walking intervals on the treadmill, I really prefer it over running. Thanks for sharing this workout. I will definitely be giving it a try!
Jen B. says
Hey Julie! Do you think this would still be a good workout even if the power walking and running speeds were slightly slowed down (walking at maybe 3.7 mph and running around 6 mph)? I’m still trying to build up my speed and don’t want to fly off the back of the treadmill trying to run at 7 mph!
Brooke @ Running In Heels says
This looks fantastic! I am always looking for good incline walking/running workouts!
Nicole says
What I don’t get is the people that put the incline way way up and then have to hold on. You lose most of the benefit of the incline if you are holding on. I can hear Jillian screaming in my head “LET GO”.

Bloggers, I am a newbie, how do I get my pic to post with my comment like all of you have?
Ellie@Fit for the Soul says
I’ve been out of oats too, so this morning I had buckwheat porridge! 😀 Good stuff. And I agree that walking in high intensity can be just as hard as running! Mainly because I need to keep up and I have short little legs, lol
sara @ fitcupcaker says
This workout is perfect 🙂 Only 15 min of running is good for me…I like running sometimes but I have to be in the mood!
Katie @ Peace Love & Oats says
It soooo feels like Friday to me! And I agree – incline walking is WAY harder than flat running! When I finish a short treadmill run I love to bump up the incline and just walk for 5-10 minutes
LeAnne says
Thanks for another great treadmill workout! I am convinced that incline walking is much harder than running…in fact, I feel like sprints are easier! I will definitely be trying this one.
Katie says
Hi Julie! When you walk at such a high incline, do you hold on to the treadmill? Thanks!
Corey says
Can’t wait to try this next week! I needed a few workouts like this to get me ready for the color run at the end of March!
