Today was produtive… and fun!
We checked quite a few items off our need to do list and one item off our want to do list.
Success!
Need to Do
We spent the day out and about in Orlando, first tackling the items on our need to do list… Like popping into PetSmart to pick up some rawhides and treats for Sadie.
The cute, cuddly kitties caught our eye and we spent some time showing them some love.
Ryan and I are huge cat lovers and would definitely have a kitty of our own if it weren’t for my terrible allergies. Cats, especially the gray and brown tabby cats, tug at my heart strings. (If you’re a dog and/or cat lover, please click here to read what cats and dogs write in their diaries. Hysterical!)
Other errands for the day took us to Bed, Bath and Beyond and Great Clips for his and her hair cuts. I find it amusing that our haircuts cost the same, and Ryan’s actually takes longer than mine. Apparently “just a trim” on long hair is easy peasy!
Then it was off to Chipotle for lunch!
I got a burrito bowl with fajita veggies, black and white beans, corn and regular salsa… Double the salsa, puh-lease. 😀
We then snagged chai tea lattes from Starbuck before hitting the road for our last errand.
Fortunately the final item on our need to do list for the day doubled as a want to do item for me.
A trip to Williams-Sonoma!
We had some returns to do due to some duplicate wedding gifts off our wedding registry and we jumped at the chance to browse around the store for a while.
We both got a little too excited to see peppermint hot chocolate on display!
A couple of years ago Ryan and I coincidentally bought each other tins of Williams-Sonoma peppermint hot chocolate for Christmas.
Proof:We share an unnatural love for this ridiculously expensive hot cocoa. $20 for peppermint hot chocolate!? C’mon. But still, we suck it up and buy a tin every year because it’s that good.
We purchased our annual tin of the hot cocoa and well as pumpkin pecan butter that I cannot wait to try.
Want to Do
After accomplishing all of our need to do items, we headed to the Orlando Museum of Art (where I used to work) to check out the museum’s annual Festival of Trees event.
After purchasing our tickets, Ryan and I headed into the galleries to check out the array of beautifully decorated Christmas trees.
Different companies decorate the trees in creative ways and then people or other organizations may bid on the trees, with all of the proceeds going toward the Orlando Museum of Art.
I liked the bridal tree created by Solutions, a local bridal boutique. As a long-time fan of the game Candy Land, I also thought this tree was pretty neat:
My favorite trees were the more traditional-looking trees that were decked out in red and green.
Ryan was a good sport and agreed to participate in the annual holiday craft with me.
We turned this…
Into this…
Only in Florida does Santa need shades rather than snow boots. 😉
Santa and Rudolph are magnets and now Ryan’s Santa and my Rudolph are chillin’ on our fridge where they will remain through the holidays.
For participating in the craft, we got Silly Bandz and Ryan let me keep his so I could sport the red and green Christmasy combo. Apparently Silly Bandz are all the rage these days. Whatever happened to Beanie Babies and pogs?
Equipped with my new super-trendy bands, we explored the rest of the galleries before heading home.
The gingerbread houses are always a favorite of mine.
Now I’m off to eat some homemade chili that’s been simmering while I’ve been blogging away.
It smells incredible!
haha I love those bands! The girls that I coach always give me some, they seem to be coming up with new ones every week… I had a huge collection of pogs and beanie babies, now the kids don’t even know what pogs are 🙁 I may have to make a trip to william-sonoma.
Oh my gosh that looks like so much fun!!! What a great holiday event!!!
What a baby face your husband used to have!
Hahaha you guys are always so adorable! Your husband just looks like the happiest guy! hehe
fun lookin day! I love chipotle!!
Sounds like a great day! 🙂
My family and I went to the festival of trees a few years ago and really enjoyed it. I LOVE Christmas so seeing all of the beautiful trees and gingerbread houses was awesome.
I am waiting for it to get a bit cooler before we break out the hot chocolate, but that cocoa sound tasty!
haha! you guys are too cute:) I agree that cocoa is delish!
Also those trees are gorgeous! I need to go there 🙂
Where is your watch from? It’s gorgeous!
thank you! i am in love with it. it was my wedding day gift from ryan. it’s made by michele & can be purchased at a number of different places. 🙂
Awww now I want to go do some fun Christmassy things!! Looks like such a fun afternoon.
I have never heard of that Christmas tree display. I’m going to have to check on how to get tickets! It looks like fun 😀
Beautiful wedding ring & band!! It’s so cool seeing them TOGETHER!! 😀
warning: the last day of the festival of trees is tomorrow!
It’s nice that Ryan is game for tackling the to-do list together… errands are always better when they’re done together! How long does the Festival of Trees go on for? I’d love to go, but won’t be back in Florida for a couple more weeks!
unfortunately the last day is tomorrow. 🙁
Oh my that hot cocoa sounds soooooooooo good! Def worth the 20 bux!
U guys are too cute! What a fun day, love that candyland tree!
Silly bandz are all the rage for kids these days. I work at a summer camp, and some of the kids had over 200 silly bands! They always traded them – and I was given some for being the best camp counselor ever 🙂
A fun day you had!! I was JUST wondering today if there was a mint hot chocolate out there!! Great to know, I’m so going to pick up the pricey tin of mint chocolately goodness! I love the peppermint mocha @ Starbucks. Delish. Yesterday I discovered dark peppermint Lindor chocolates. Amazing!
I can’t wait until Christmas! It’s definitely beginning to look a lot like Christmas out my way! 😀
I was glad to see your photos at the Festival of Trees. I wanted to get by there to day, but didn’t make it. Now I will have to wait until next year.
What a great weekend day:) I love doing the errands and out and about day with my boyfriend on Saturdays. It makes you feel so accomplished to check off all of those to-do’s. I have been taking WIlliam Sonoma technique classes on Sundays for the past few months and every time I am in that store I want to buy so many things (food and not)! They have some incredible food products, and I’ve tried the pumpkin pecan butter, it’s amazing!!!
Pogs and Beanie Baby’s How bout Slap Bracelets? Since the silly bands are worn on the wrist as well. Good ol Slap Bracelets
fun stuff in here for sure! beautiful Christmas trees, yummy hot chocolate, pretty gingerbread house, and oh hey Michele watch! I’m on my 3rd! (First was a law school grad present; second was an impulse buy, and 3rd I bought last week as a “woo new job” present for myself – from Haute Look – can’t remember if that’s one of the private sale sites you patronize, like Rue La La and ideeli and the like :)).
love the pictures! the festival of trees looks so festive and fun! i love peppermint hot chocolate during the holidays too. I’ll have to try out williams/sonomas:)
I love the christmas tree pics! It gets me in the “watch Elf on repeat” spirit 🙂
I love all the trees! How fun!!
Hope you guys took advantage of the Buy 1, Get 1 drinks at Starbucks! 😉
Beanie Babies are still where it’s at! haha 😉
I love, love Williams-Sanoma!! How luck of you to be registered there- that sstuff is nice but soo expensive!
1. I love your watch it’s amazing.
2. Williams-Sanoma is amazing!
3. Wow Ryan looks so much younger in the ‘flashback’ picture!
I love yall’s magnets! I remember when Beanie Babies were all the rage. I had a huge crate of them… and refused to sell them, even when they were going on EBay for a ton of money. When they tanked, and we lost out opportunity to sell them, it was a harsh reality…
I love to buy that hot cocoa for presents during the holidays! And that pumpkin butter is to die for! You should try it with the WS recipe Bakerella posted recently, sooooooo good 😀
Hello! I just found your blog! 🙂 Adorable pictures! I love the hot chocolate tradition, that’s so cute! Also, I’ve never heard of pumpkin pecan butter… but it sounds amazing. I’m definitely going to have to do some research on that 😉
aaah! your michele watch is gorgeous! i saw that and was like, is that new!?!?
what a lucky girl you are!
now i need to go get that hot chocolate!!!
All those trees look amazing…I think I need some new decorations for my own now!
I swing into William Sonoma almost every day on my way home from class to stop and snag some free peppermint choc samples. So. so. good!!
Love the candy land tree, too.
Hey! I work at Great Clips!! haha… Unfortunately I work at a Great Clips in Ohio. Nice to know I could always transfer to sunny Florida!! 🙂
Looks so fun! Enjoy the rest of your weekend!
I love making a gingerbread house every year with my niece and nephew. Definitely my favorite holiday tradition.
Going and seeing those decorated trees sounds awesome!

YES!
I had both Chipotle and a Starbucks Chai tea latte yesterday. I noticed from your wedding info that you are from St. Pete. I’m in Feather Sound : )
I worked the craft area at the Festival of Trees last Sunday. That’s really cute that you guys did a craft while you were there. 🙂
The event looked fun and that house at the end is amazing!
You always wear the cutest clothes that are just right for you! 🙂
