How did I come to conclude that The Boheme is a fancy-schmancy place? For one thing, the menus light up when you open them (wow, I know) and secondly, a man at the table next to us sent his drink back because he didn’t like the type of glass it was in (seriously, I’m not lying – now that’s pretention, my friends).
After noting that our brightly colored outfits made us by far the most colorful people in the place, Ryan and I snuggled into a nice, romantic booth and instantly salivated when we read the menu. Selections ranged from duck and salmon to grouper, filet and seabass. I selected the jumbo scallops served with a tomato risotto and Ryan picked the New York strip steak with mashed potatoes and green beans.
After placing our orders, the waitress brought out a warm, doughy, freshly-baked asiago bread loaf cut up and topped with pesto and a balsamic vinegar glaze. Holy yum!!! The bread was fantastic and we polished off the entire plate with ease.
Within five minutes of finishing the bread, our entrees were delivered.
My scallops were beyond amazing. Tender, GIGANTIC and oh-so-fresh. I love scallops and these were among the very best I’ve ever had.
Ryan’s strip steak was also very good but we agreed the mashed potatoes were the highlight of his selection. Even though we were full, we decided to call in our second stomachs and order dessert. Warm apple pie with cinnamon ice cream -mmm mmm good.
The apple pie was good but being the ice cream girl that I am, I thought the cinnamon ice cream was the icing on the cake for this dessert. The food was great, the atmosphere was romantic and the company was top-notch which, to me, is the recipe for a fantastic date. The Boheme did not disappoint!
