When Ryan got off work today, we packed our bags and hit the road for my parents’ house in St. Pete. We booked our flight to Chicago in the morning out of the airport near their house so we could do the ol’ Sadie drop and leave our little girl with them for the weekend.
This meant we got to spend the evening with my family!
My mom prepared a yummy dinner of turkey chili, fruit salad and freshly baked bread.
I went back for thirds of the fruit and bread. What is it about doughy bread that makes it so irresistible? Mmm.
After dinner my parents had “congratulations cupcakes” from a local bakery for us to share in honor of Ryan’s new job offer!
We cut up all of the cupcakes so we could each try bits and pieces of the cakes that interested us. Of course they all appealed to me, so I naturally sampled all of them.
My favorite cupcake was the “Better Than…” flavor (bottom row, middle). It tasted like cookie dough in cake form! So dense and delicious.
After dinner, we stayed at the table talking for a while and picking at the cupcake remains.
My mom also tried to help me find inserts for the shoes I will be wearing at my friend Leah’s wedding on Saturday.
When Leah selected the shoes for the bridesmaids to buy, the website was out of my size, so I had to order a size up in a WIDE shoe. Needless to say they’re a little clunky.
Fortunately we found an insert that make them much more manageable.
And now it’s BED time. We are waking up at 4:15 a.m. (Yikes!) in order to make the first flight to Chicago in the morning. I have some fun guest posts set up for you guys while I am away and hope to pop in a few times as well. I hear they have free internet at the Tampa airport, so I may be able to crank out a deliriously tired 4:45 a.m. post for ya which would be… interesting.
Also, I can’t sign off without thanking you for all of your wonderfully supportive comments about our upcoming move to Ocala. Anytime a big change is on the horizon there are a lot of different emotions involved and having your support and well-wishes means a lot to both me and Ryan. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again… You guys are truly the best!

Do you think when you get back from Chicago that you could post your Mom’s turkey chili recipe??
I’m always looking for a good chili recipe & hers looks SO good. It look pretty thick, which is perfect! 😀 I have tried a few, but haven’t found THE one…lol!
Hope you guys have a safe trip- I’m thinking you are probably in the air right now! 🙂
& I LOVE the shoes she picked out- so pretty!!

I had to buy those shoes (in black) for a wedding. They fit terribly! I had to go a size down so they wouldn’t be too wide. I never thought about inserts (doh!)… so I got to have that cool look of my toes almost hanging over the edge. Which reminds me of that P Diddy Ciroc commercial where he says something like “it means your feet are too big… it scares me.” haha

I can’t believe you were in Chicago for a wedding! We at runningwithmascara.com are based in the burbs! I hope you had a lot of fun and enjoyed the scenery… I bet the weather here wasn’t too much cooler than FL seeing as how it’s like 90 degrees!
