Circuits, baby! I just love ‘em.
Today’s workout was another little gem from the boot camp program I am following. It began with 20 minutes on the elliptical followed by a circuit workout that took me through three rounds of exercises that focused on bursts of cardio and power strength movements.
I always know which exercises kick my butt the most because they quickly become the exercises that I dread when they come around in the circuit.
Today those exercises were burpees (no surprise there!) and the medicine ball toss.
I didn’t think the medicine ball toss would be all that challenging, but after doing it for 60 seconds in a row, I found that it really pushed me. I also felt a little crazy doing that exercise (and the medicine ball slams) in the middle of my gym floor, but I made sure to leave my pride in the car, so it wasn’t a big deal.
Breakfast
How about a Friday egg sandwich?
Two fried eggs + Strawberry jelly + Muenster cheese + Whole wheat English muffin
And a hot mug of coffee to get this day started!

I never think to put jelly on my breakfast sandwiches…yum!

I go to a PT at the gym…and when people ask me what he does with me, I always say “kick my butt by making me look as ridiculous as possible” – I have to remind myself all the time that no one is really paying attention to what I’m doing!
Sara @my less serious life says
god i love that sandwich…
i just really do.

I keep forgetting to try jelly on an egg sandwich! I definitely need to try one for breakfast this weekend. 🙂

You always spur my egg cravings- delicious breakfast! I’ve started doing the exercises I hate most first- it puts my mind at ease for the rest of the workout :)!
peanutbutterfingers says
i do that, too! especially on days when i workout my legs. squats FIRST!
Khushboo Thadani says
haha for me it’s lunges!

This is going to sound silly but im honestly curious. I have never heard of muenster cheese. Where do you get it from? Im intrigued to try it because you use it in a lot of your breakfasts. thanks!!
peanutbutterfingers says
i buy it at publix, but they sell it at any grocery store or in the deli department! i used to eat it on sandwiches growing up and always loved it. it tastes like a milder version of cheddar cheese in my opinion.
krystal @ coffeecardiogoddess says
Thanks for letting me know! i love cheddar cheese so ill have to look for it.
Alyssa @ fit and fun in third says
I actually enjoy using the medicine ball while working out as long as I can find a room in my gym that’s empty because I feel silly throwing it around with a bunch of people near. I’m not the most coordinated!!
Brittany@ Delights and Delectables says
I love circuits too! Burpees kill me! You sandwich is making me want a second breakfast! 🙂
Molly from LifesLemons says
lol. Burpees kill me too. You can really tell that they are working if you do them long enough. I try to go to the beat of the music.
Joanna @ Midwestern Bite says
Every time I see your breakfasts I think to myself I should try the jelly and cheese combo, but then never do. Outta sight outta mind. Maybe I need to print out a pic and hang it on the fridge to remind me…. 😉
Katie @ Peace Love & Oats says
I love the look of the circuit workout, but I’m a little worried I won’t be able to do a lot of the fun stuff – my gym only has kettleballs and medicine balls in the personal trainer room and I don’t know if I’ll be able to use them…
Heather says
Med ball workouts are tough! I did med ball throws with a squat jump thrown in. Pretty sure I did three of them before I got tired. Who would think those things get so heavy after a few exercises?
Mollie says
Medicine Ball Slams are so absurd looking, but honestly I think they are one of the most empowering things (at least for me). Such a fantastic way to get aggression and power out 🙂
Sounds like it was a great workout!!
Lindsay @ In Sweetness and In Health says
I love medicine ball tosses!! Circuits have been killing me lately haha. I’ve needed to tone down the intensity of my workouts a bit because I think I was overdoing it and pushing my body too hard. Hope you have an awesome Friday

At crossfit one of the best work outs is wall balls. I always have a hard time moving the next day lol

I thought about having that sandwich this morning … then started reading blogs and got distracted. So I had to make the quickest thing I could think of! I’m regretting that now, it looks delicious 🙂
Kristen @ notsodomesticated says
Ugh burpees kill me every time!!!

I admire you a lot for doing the med ball exercises in your gym, despite feeling uncomfortable. I’ve been putting off doing Phase 3 of LiveFit Trainer (or even qutting altogether) because I’m too self-conscious to do the active rest exercises in my small and crowded gym, where I’m sure everyone thinks I’m nuts anyway. I don’t really have any pride to leave, but it would be nice to leave my embarrassment and body image issues in the car.

I did two workouts that had me doing bridges in the middle of the gym yesterday and felt embarrassed for the first two sets, then finally got over it. At least I’m not the only one looking ridiculous in the gym!

Your breakfast, jelly and all, was my dinner last night! I’m on a huge breakfast for dinner kick.

Hahaha. I have to leave my pride in the car a lot when I go to the gym too. Lol. I do some pretty intense workouts.

Yuuuuummmm that breakfast sandwich sounds like perfection! I thought I was weird for putting jelly with cheese on a breakfast sandwich – now I feel less alone! Ya gotta love the savory/sweet combo…

burpees are so cruel!
meg @ pinkgiggles says
I cannot wait to get home from work and have an egg sandwich just like yours!
Whitney @ Whit Likes Fit says
I feel so stupid doing medicine ball slams because our whole gym is basically in one room so everyone can see me doing them. I usually lay on my back and do chest passes into the air instead. Less noisy.

I love eggs after a hard workout!

Quaker Oats originated in my hometown of Akron, Ohio 🙂 That article about “Larry” (who knew he had a name??) was really interesting! I’m fascinated by marketing, mostly because I’m a huge sucker for pretty packages, haha. It’s amazing to me that there can be so much intention behind such little changes – I never would have noticed his shoulders were showing now, among many other things. Thanks for passing the link along!

I need to try out your egg sandwich soon. I love that combo of cheese, egg and jam. It sounds so good to me! Funny, today I just posted a workout routine I did that included medicine ball tosses, great minds think alike 😉
Brianna @ Don't Eat Crap says
You really like your jelly on your egg sandwiches. You are the first and only person I’ve seen do that. Interesting stuff Miss Julie!
