Look who came to visit last night!
My father-in-law!
Can you see the resemblance?
Ryan’s dad, Greg, arrived in town for the weekend right around 6 p.m. I’ll be in Orlando all day today and Ryan figured it was a good weekend to invite his dad up for some father/son time. I’m glad we all got to spend some time together last night!
Greg arrived hungry, which was perfect because both Ryan and I were ready for dinner. Everyone agreed on sushi and we headed out to Grace Japanese Steakhouse, which has quickly become our favorite spot in Ocala for sushi.
Our meals started with a ginger salad.
Oooh that dressing! It’s a winner.
Then it was time for my main meal. Bring on the sushi and vegetables!
That roll (the Fuji roll?) was topped with scallops and shredded crab (well, “krab”) and was fantastic. I loved all the avocado and Ryan and his dad gave it rave reviews as well.
I also got the Bonsai tree appetizer as part of my entrée because I’ve loved this roll so much in the past.
It’s so crisp and refreshing.
I rounded out my meal with a side of the stir fried vegetables, tossed in teriyaki sauce.
I could eat 10 trays of those veggies.
Grace is within walking distance of Peachwave, so you better believe we walked our butts to the frozen yogurt shop for dessert.
Cheesecake frozen yogurt + Sprinkles + White chocolate-covered pretzels for me!
Time to hit the road for Orlando. See ya in a bit!
That sounds like a winning froyo combination – yum!
What’s your fave froyo topping?!
Sushi + froyo – I knew from the title this was my kind of meal! 😉
sushi and fro yo is my ideal meal..i also LOVE chocolate covered pretzels on my fro yo!
Can’t beat a sushi and fro yo night – easily two of my favorite foods! 😉
All of that food looks delicious — especially the veggies!
Ahh that dressing, I agree its a winner. I need to learn how to make that/buy it!
Ooooo I used to LOVE that ginger dressing! It usually has soy in it though I’m soy intolerant! Haha might be worth it anyway.
Cute outfit! 🙂 I love sushi and those veggies but can’t seem to eat the ginger dressing. blech.
I LOVE sushi and I love the dressing that comes with the salads at most sushi places but I can’t stand how drenched the lettuce always is. But I’ve also never been an order the dressing on the side kind of gal. (first world problems, I guess).
love that outfit, so cute! also the froyo combo sounds delish!!
I am waaay overdue for some sushi!
Well, yum! A sushi and froyo night sounds soooo good. I see a date night in my future!
that froyo sounds so good! Sounds like you had a great night 🙂
Jealous of you going to Orlando!!! Would love to go back. You are officially the fro yo queen!
Ca-ute outfit!! I wish we had a fro yo place here, sounds super yummy! 🙂
My husband and I were just talking about what we want to do with the rest of our day. I’m pretty sure we’ll be making a trip to “the big city” to get sushi (or maybe Mexican) and fro-yo! Thanks for the idea!
Are those shorts from the LOFT? If so, I think I have them!
I wish I could eat froyo (lactose intolerant and vegan) and find the non-dairy version to be wayyyyy too sweet.
whoa that fuji roll looks so good! Never seen that kind of topper. And I love it when my inlaws come into town! 😀 Glad you guys got that time together.
Mmmm that fro-yo sounds amazing!!
PS. Not sure if you would know the answer to this, but I’m looking at relocating and FL is in the running.. know of any good communications job boards online for the Orlando area to check out?
I’m so jealous of your sushi! I have been craving it for a couple of weeks now!
chocolate or yogurt covered preztels are my version of crack! SO good!
sushi and froyo – that’s pretty much the ideal dinner, isn’t it?
What is in that Bonsai roll? Looks good!
I had sushi last night for dinner, as well! We ordered four rolls and each were out of this world. I think I could eat sushi every day!
My best friend and I just went to the farmer’s market and on a fro-yo date! Just the best treat. So glad Ryan got in some family time!
Where is that top from?! I must have it 🙂 it’s too cute!
Agreed, must know where you got that top!
the brand name is tart! 🙂
it’s made by tart and i got it through hautelook.com! 🙂
That froyo combination sounds perfect. Just perfect. Sprinkles make everything better!
Sounds like a great night- gosh you look tiny in that picture. You have always been very slim but you look even smaller! Maybe it’s in comparison to the big froyo cup hehe!
Does anyone know how to make the ginger dressing for the salad? Does it contain egg?
YUMMY!!!
Hey Julie, just wann aleave a comment, because I like your blog. your entries are such a good read!!! I found your blog a few weeks ago and was reading now and then and lately I come here more often.
After seeing all the egg-yolk in your meals, I wanted to give it a shot and made myself an egg-chesse sandwich with the egg-yolk half fluid. It was soooooo delicious to dip the bread in it and I instantly got addicted. Thx for that. haha
Um, yum? Those sushi rolls look so good! I’ve been wanting to try those cucumber rolls… Is there rice? I couldn’t tell! I’m such a sushi freak… I can eat it and looks at pictures of it everyday, so thanks for sharing! 🙂
I am so with you on vegetables – anyone who knows me doesn’t understand how I can eat so many, hehe 😉 those sushi rolls look amazing – I love when they are wrapped in cucumber!! hope you had a great weekend!
Peacheswave?
We live in Ocala and have only to been to Grace once before. When I saw your picture of that fuji roll I knew I had to try it. It did not disappoint!! Oh my goodness, the deliciousness!!! I’m already trying to go back again this week for it. Wow!

Hi! I know this is kinda off topic however I’d figured I’d ask.
Would you be interested in exchanging links or maybe guest authoring a blog article or vice-versa?
My website goes over a lot of the same subjects as yours and I
think we could greatly benefit from each other.
If you’re interested feel free to send me an email. I look forward to hearing from you! Awesome blog by the way!
