Today began with a strength workout from Tina’s Best Body Boot Camp plan that, yet again, incorporated five minute spurts of cardio in between supersets.
Though I stuck to the treadmill for most of the cardio, I did the mini five minute circuit from yesterday’s Beat Boredom Interval Workout as one of the quick cardio pick-me-ups and was quite humbled. That little circuit kills me!
Sexy Beast?
When Ryan and I arrive home from the gym every morning, we like to ambush Sadie. She’s typically sprawled out on our bed in her sleepy morning glory, and we love running into the bedroom and watching her continue to lay there, but with her tail rapidly beating against the bed sheets.
Ryan headed into the bedroom ahead of me today calling out, “Hey there sexy beast!”
Um, what? Sexy beast?
“What did you just call her?” I asked.
“Sadie beast.”
I laughed, explaining that I thought he called our dog a sexy beast. Admittedly, we’re a little obsessed with Sadie, but I think referring to your dog as a sexy beast is a line even we aren’t willing to cross.
Although, if we polled the male dogs from the Baldwin Park dog park, I think we would find that we do, in fact, have a sexy beast on our hands.
Breakfast
Breakfast this morning began with a hot mug of coffee.
My main meal included scrambled eggs made with a splash of milk, shredded cheese, onion, leftover roasted cauliflower and avocado.
Avocado made this bowl of basic scrambled eggs feel extra special.
Question of the Morning
- Do you have any unusual nicknames for your pet?
Sadie has a million nicknames, though Sexy Beast is not one of them. Off the top of my head, we call her Pooper, Poops, Sadie Baby, Princess, Wiggle Worm, Sadie Girl, Sades, Crazy Lady, Love Machine… the list goes on and on.

Hi Julie,
I am from Niagara Falls, Canada and I am a big fan of your blog; I found your link on Pinterest about a month ago and have been hooked ever since! Sadie is adorable, (my hound Molly and I enjoy her stories!) I also really like your recipes, it’s handy to see a real person and what they eat as healthy meals and snacks, I have been working on maintaining a healthier lifestyle and am always looking for new food ideas.
Molly gets called: Baby Dawg, Baby Girl, Miss. Molly, Miss. M, Lil’ Miss Wiggle Butt, Lil’ Hound Dawg, “Hey girlfriend!” (My Mom busts that one out Oprah style)
I saw this article today about a sweet little boy and his ailing service dog and thought you and Sadie may enjoy the read . The boy has created a “Lick it List” for his pouch and is looking to reward his a dog with “Treats from all over the world” It’s an adorable story!

It’s so easy to have many nicknames for dogs. I don’t think I’d want to call mine sexy beasts either!
We have two chocolate labs, Angel and Reagan. Angel gets called Ang, Angie, Angel Face, Babester and more. Reagan gets called Ray Ray, Ray, Stinky butt ( she gets into the smelliest stuff!) and more. I also call them Ang a doodle and Ray my noodle and my sister calls them dark and milk chocolate since Angel is lighter than Reagan.

Haha sexy beast? Your blog made my day today! I have a beagle basset mix and we call her Bagel sometimes. Her name is Charlie, but the closest thing to her name (for a nickname) is Charchar or Charliebear. And I sometimes call her Bubbers. When she was a puppy we’d call her Bunnyboo because her “running” was more like hopping around looking like a bunny, floppy ears and all.
Stephanie @ My Freckled Life says
My dog Laney usually gets called “Laney dog” which my fiance thinks is hilarious. He keeps joking that one of these days I’m going to start calling him “Chris Human”.
Monique says
I laughed so hard at this, I’m alway calling my dog jet a sexy beast. Especially since I was mean and made him wear a doggie Hawaiian shirt we got him as a dog child present on holiday. His shaggy hair sticks out the collar of the shirt and I could just imagine his sexy hula moves to the lady dogs, he is so cute and sexy they will all have little cute jet puppies.
Hojo says
I call my dog “Dorkus” or “Doofus”. His name is Deuce, which evolved into that somehow, and he responds to it!
I think it has something to do with him being a 70-lb dog that doesn’t know his own size.
Lauren Folland says
hahha! I’m at work and just BURST out laughing @ Sadie’s captions. And everyone around me just stared. If only animals could realllly talk, I can only imagine what they would say!

Our older Coney has a bunch of nicknames- Coney Bananas (this one is best to say in an Oprah voice/style), Scoots, Boogers, Bean, Nugget, Scrup.
Our little puppy, named Biscuit, has far fewer- little pup and little nugget are really the only ones we say frequently.
