Toilet Paper Pumpkin Craft Project

We’re going to breeze through lunch today because I have last night’s fun fall craft project to share with you guys this afternoon!

I spent the morning reading my NASM textbook and taking notes, so lunch popped up rather quickly and I threw together a salad similar to the one I ate last week with my new favorite yogurt-based Caesar dressing.

Plus two fun-sized pieces of Halloween candy for dessert!

Now for the fun stuff…

Pumpkin Toilet Paper Roll Craft

Who knew you could easily transform this…

Into this…

No sewing or hot glue gun skills required!

I saw this little craft project on Pinterest last week (where else?) and knew I had to make it. I loved that it was an inexpensive project that seemed relatively simple and fun.

While I first saw this craft on Organize and Decorate Everything (who saw it on The House Creative), it seems like pumpkin toilet paper rolls have been around for years and years, as I found them all over the internet when I Googled “pumpkin toilet paper roll” in search of additional pictures of the pumpkins for inspiration. Have you guys all seen this before and I’m just 300 years behind the times? There are a ton of cute versions out there, let me tell ya!

Though I completed this craft last night, it actually started on Saturday afternoon on our hike with Sadie when I gathered the three sticks that would serve as pumpkin stems!

After our hike, I headed to Hobby Lobby where I selected three different fabrics (approximately 22’’ x 18’’) and three different colors of raffia to use to tie around the pumpkin stems for a little extra flare.

Then it was assembly time!

First I placed a piece of Hobby Lobby’s thick tissue paper that I snagged from the checkout line on top of a piece of fabric. (You can use newspaper.)

Then I tightly tucked the tissue paper into the center of the roll…

Followed by the fabric.

And when I say I “tucked” the tissue paper and fabric into the center of the toilet paper roll, I should probably say I aggressively shoved it into the center. This wasn’t quite as easy as it looks, possibly because the fabric I chose was rather thick.

I then asked Ryan if he had a drill I could borrow to make a little hole for the stick I was supposed to put in the middle of the pumpkin to serve as my stem. No dice. Since I didn’t really have space for the stick, I used the handle of a spoon to shove the fabric as far down into the center of the toilet paper roll as I could manage.

Then I garnished my pumpkins with a stick and some raffia!
