Good morning!
It’s one heck of a sleepy Tuesday over here. After several days in a row of minimal sleep, I think my lack of sleep finally caught up with me this morning. Wedding weekends are always so fun, but they’re non-stop!
Ryan and I opted to sleep until 6:30 a.m. today and when the alarm went off, I rolled over and told him I could easily sleep for another three hours. As someone who typically cannot sleep past 7 a.m., I know my body needs to play catch up on some sleep. Hopefully I’ll be able to crawl into bed early tonight!
Breakfast
About 15 minutes after I woke up, I opened the fridge and dug into the overnight oats I prepped for myself last night.
I made them with a bit of almond butter stirred into the mix for some added staying power.
Yum!
Now I’m off to work. I will be leading the beginner’s running group at our gym at 9 a.m. and after four days off from exercise, I’m ready to get moving!
Enjoy your Tuesday!

I’m planning a sleep in tomorrow and to do my workout after work. I’ve been and am still traveling for work all week with lots of long hours and also need some extra sleep and relax time 🙂
Kelly @ Kelly Runs for Food says
I had one of those mornings yesterday! I feel like the weekend throws off my whole body clock!
Hope @ With A Side Of Hope says
I couldn’t get out of bed today either! It’s pouring rain outside and very dark and dreary. It would be the perfect day to just stay home, lay in bed, watch movies/tv, bake and relax. Too bad I’m at work 😉
Sabrina says
I’ve become a morning person as of recently, springing out of bed around 6am after 7 hours of sleep. But today I am exhausted and still lounging in bed. I know sleep will become a hot commodity as I transition into fall season and then holiday season.
Tiff @ Love, Sweat, and Beers says
I slept in a little today too, and it was glorious!
Charlotte @ Commitness to Fitness says
That’s been my whole week so far! (well, we’re only 2 days in, but yes i slept past my alarm for the last 2 days) but of course, on the weekends i cant sleep past 7 🙂
Holly @ EatGreatBEGreat says
I wanted to sleep in SO bad today! It’s raining and dreary here. The type of day where you just want to stay in bed and be lazy, but nope…had to get up for work! 🙁
Sara @ LovingOnTheRun says
I think it is weather here – if it weren’t for my hip hurting I could have stayed in bed FOREVER. The weather is gloomy and nasty here and I am trying to get the motivation to go out and run. Where is the sun!?
Tara | Treble in the Kitchen says
It must be a sleepy day…I was feeling tired this morning too!! I get off work at 7pm tonight and my plan is to hop into my jammies and right into bed to read and get to sleep early!!
Jackie Macharsky says
Those oats look very yummy!
Melissa says
Well, at least on a positive note, you planned breakfast ahead, so you were able to have one that looks quite tasty! It’s a sleepy morning, over here, too, with abundant rain and traffic.
Ashley @ Life and Fitness says
I don’t blame you for being tired. Non stop wedding and traveling is bound to knock you out. Traveling always makes me super tired even if I’m not changing time zones.
Jamie @ fitfortherun says
I would love to lead a running group! Is this through the gym that you work at?
Julie @ Peanut Butter Fingers says
Yes!

My body needs sleep too. Reasons different than yours, I often go on only 2 hours sleep most nights of the week. I’m a zombie and getting anything done is near impossible. Trying to be positive like you!
Your overnight oats look different this time. My issue with overnight oats is eating them ALL the night before – I am a heavy night eater. Admire your willpower 🙂
Ashlee@HisnHers says
I realllllly didn’t like overnight oats the first time I tried your recipe and it was all MY fault! Once I added in the brown sugar it took the over the top. I love them now!
Katie @ Talk Less, Say More says
I’ve definitely been trying to catch up on sleep but can’t actually SLEEP IN! I’m off today but my eyes opened at 6:15 this morning and my stomach growled like it hasn’t eaten in days. I stayed in bed until almost 7 and then gave in to my hunger. haha!
Alex @ Cookie Dough Katzen says
I always have at least one day a week where I sleep in, although I always find that I’m more tired on those days. Strange!
Jen @ Chocolate Chips & Tricep Dips says
It’s raining here. Why does rain make it so much more difficult to get going?!?
Mary says
I really struggle to sleep in too, but the first day of the Summer holidays (I’m a teacher) I decided that I would have ‘just another few minutes’ a long while past 7am! Sometimes your body just needs to re-coop. I prefer napping in the afternoon if I get tired though. There’s definitely something about getting so much done in the early morning.
Chelsea @ BigBitesLittleBudget says
Welcome back! I am always waking up by 6am, but this week have been letting my body sleep until 7. Even though it is just one extra hour, it feels so nice to be catching up a little on sleep.
Madison says
You know you’re a grown up with sleeping is 6:30am. 🙂
Madison says
when* gosh, maybe I should of slept in! 🙂
Julie @ Peanut Butter Fingers says
Haha! No kidding!
Chelsea @ BigBitesLittleBudget says
Also, great job on the salad. That looks fantastic and the goat cheese dressing so light and easy to make. I printed it out to make for the next barbeque!
Julia @ BasketofJuls says
I felt the same way this morning! Hope you have a great run with your group this morning!!
Joelle (On a Pink Typewriter) says
I haven’t had overnight oats in ages- good idea!
Alyssa @ See This Girl Run says
haha I love that 6:30 is sleeping in 🙂 I’m the same way, so getting up at 7 is a luxury!
Your breakfast looks amazing. Have fun with the running group!
Audrey @ In Shape Cupcake says
I had overnight oats too! I was gonna wake up early but I needed extra sleep because I worked out hard yesterday. So now my run has been pushed back to tonight along with Legs…eek!
Lauren says
I really like the fact you share links of interest because even though I go on those sites, I hate when I miss GOOD articles! I always get excited when I see them at the bottom of your posts Lol
Annette@FitnessPerks says
I too am having a verrrrry sleepy tuesday. Ahhhhh, can’t wait for bedtime tonight! 🙂
Sarah Smith @ Life {R+S} says
Glad you had fun at the wedding, but I definitely understand the need for a four-day weekend every wedding weekend we attend! I’m in three this year and they all require travel so I’m sure we will be feeling the same after each one!
Maddie says
Have you ever tried Psyllium Husk? I came across it in another blog and was wondering if you knew anything about it?
Julie @ Peanut Butter Fingers says
Never tried it!
Emily says
It’s the stuff in metamucil!
Taylor @ Single-tracked Mind says
Weddings ARE exhausting!! I’m headed to Santa Barbara tomorrow for one on Thursday, and it’s gonna be a looong few days. I’m sure I’ll need ample sleep time to recover.
Ivy says
Me too, today! I’ve been more tired than usual this week- chalking it up to PMS. Girl problems!
Sarah @ Sweet Miles says
Oh I’m right there with you!! This morning we woke up to a terrible thunderstorm, so it would have been lovely to just lay there a bit longer and listen to the rain 🙂 Or the back of my eyelids 🙂
Jamie @ Sometimes Healthy Living Blog says
Ah yes! I have those days quite often. But 6:30 sure isn’t too shabby. It’s nice you too some days off from working out. I’m sure your legs will be fresh and ready to go 🙂
Jillienne@ChasingRaspberries says
I can never sleep in anymore and I’m always up by 7:00! I guess it’s a sign that I’m getting older 🙁
Ashley @ Eat Run Live Happy says
My goal is to become and instructor at the gym I work at and start a running group class! Have a great run!
Caitie @ twentytwofit says
Been there, girlfriend. It seems whenever I have a lot to get done, my body tells me I need more sleep – and when I have a day full of nothing, I’m wide awake at 5am! Sleep cycles are a strange thing 🙂
Rebecca says
I can totally relate to how you felt this morning. Hope you enjoyed the running group! 🙂
Jessie says
I am up at 4:00 am every morning-want time alone before everyone gets up 🙂 But there are those mornings I just want to sleeep 🙂

It’s getting lighter later in the mornings now and I have noticed I am struggling to get out of bed at 5:15 now! Much easier when it’s light out.
Lauren says
Starting today I have to get up at 5am during the week–so I really need to work on getting to bed earlier!
It’s so cool that you’re leading group runs. I’ve always wanted to participate in one through Lululemon or something…gotta put that on the bucket list!
Maggie @ Sunnyside Up Smile says
Mhmm overnight oats….that’s my breakfast most every morning. And I love to add healthy fats too, whether it be ab or pb or chia seeds or coconut oil! I love it all! Too bad you couldn’t sleep in later this morning. I was in need of a good night’s sleep and I got to sleep in until 10:30! Lucky me!
Kate @ KaCo Living says
I had the same thing happen this morning. I ended up letting myself sleeping as long as possible before starting work. Hopefully you will be able to go to bed early tonight. Sleep helps make everything better!
Britney says
6:30 is sleeping in? haha That’s so hard to imagine for me, although I’m sure one day I will be able to appreciate that 6:30 am sleep in! Maybe sooner than later, too…I’m starting an internship at Disney World next week, so my hours will always vary!
Amanda says
Ahh yes I sometimes “sleep in” until 6:45 instead of my normal 4:45 when I have time after work to work out. Tomorrow I’m working from home and sleeping til 8:15 since I’m going to a concert tonight! Woo!
Rachel @ Health My Lifestyle says
Every time I see that you’re eating overnight oats it reminds me that I need to make these sometime. But then I always forget! Just eat them everyday so I remember 🙂 haha
Anna @ Fitness à la Anna says
I just got back from a vacation, where I didn’t have any time commitments. I felt the exact same way getting up for work this morning. Getting to bed early tonight fo’ sho!
