Good morning!
Yesterday was another whirlwind day. After I published my morning blog post, I drove straight from Jacksonville to Ocala, dropped Sadie off at home and headed into work. It was a busy day and I didn’t get home until close to 10 p.m. I slept like a baby last night!
During my time at the gym yesterday, I covered for another fitness instructor’s step aerobics class. No, I do not know how to teach step aerobics!
Unfortunately no step aerobics teacher could cover for the instructor who was out, so my boss asked me to teach a boot camp class in its place. I figured I’d use the step to maintain some kind of continuity in the class and in the end, I think most people enjoyed it. At least I hope they did!
It was a fast-paced workout and since I know many of you out there share my love for quick and sweaty workouts, I figured I would share it with you!
Here are a few links to video demonstrations of some of the exercises:
The class left looking nice and sweaty which is always a good sign!
Breakfast
Breakfast this morning had to be quick because I am in a bit of a hurry to head out the door.
I made another egg white and oatmeal protein pancake and served it with a dry cup of cereal. ‘
Gotta run!
Questions of the Morning
- Have you ever taken a step aerobics class? What did you think? Would you ever want to take a step aerobics class?
I’ve taken a step aerobics class a few times in my life and always left feeling like I was the most uncoordinated person in all the land.
Carrie S says
I do not like regular step classes, but I LOVE Les Mills BodyStep!
Lauren @ Peaks and Passports says
I’ve felt the exact same way following a step class. What is it about that little plastic riser that sucks all of the grace and coordination out of us?
Christine says
Thanks Julie! I was feeling completely uninspired about going to the gym today. Your bootcamp will be just the thing I needed to get the motivation back! Enjoy the rest of your day!
Taylor @ Single-tracked Mind says
Never taken a step class before, so this boot camp workout looks waaay more up my alley. 🙂
Shel@PeachyPalate says
Yep I’m the same! And then I feel like I missed out on the full workout because I spend half the time trying to catch up with the moves! Great workout btw!
Lauren @ Fun, Fit and Fabulous! says
I love love love step aerobics. When I first started teaching group exercise I learned how to teach step. We used to pack the house a that the university I taught at. It was amazing!
Alison @ Daily Moves and Grooves says
Awesome workout! I’ve only ever done Cathe’s step aerobics DVDs that I thought were super fun!
Mary says
I agree Cathe does the best step workouts. And oddly enough step is one activity I actually feel I am really good at.

My college (and my current law school) offered step aerobics classes. They are always a favorite of mine. Right now they only offer them during lunchtime, which doesn’t work for me, but whenever my afternoon classes are cancelled, I try to make it over. Its so much fun and I always sweat so much! I’ve found that if I get off step, I’ll just do a basic step until a new sequence is introduced!

Love eating dry cereal as a snack 🙂
Erin @ The Almond Eater says
Looks like a good workout! I’ve never taken a steps aerobics class–I’ve heard it’s a great workout but the gym I go to now doesn’t offer it.
Jan @ Sprouts n Squats says
I have to tell you I’ve taken an aerobics class before without the step and felt uncoordinated enough that I never felt confident about adding a step into the mix. I always feared (probably irrationally) that I would trip over the step mid class or mid ‘step over’ move and fall flat on my face 😉
Amy @ Run with Perseverance says
I regularly took step at my old gym, but the times it’s offered here aren’t as convenient. I love it, though!!
Angela says
I gave this workout to our bootcamp instructor and we did it in class today…it was a tough one. Thanks for the workout!

Hey Julie!
Can you post “meal prep tips” entry?? You seem to be super good at meal prepping especially when it comes to packing for work! I’d like to know what you do down to the nitty gritty (ex. tupperware brands, storage, recipes, etc)
Thanks!
