And now it’s time for your regularly scheduled blog post where we talk about things we’re loving this week. As always, please share something that made you smile this week in the comments section of this post.
Have a great weekend, my friends!
Things I’m Loving Friday
- Hiking
We are getting awfully spoiled with all of the great hiking nearby! We recently found a trail north of the city at Lake Norman State Park that follows the lake for five miles and includes tons of little lookouts for hikers to take in the beautiful views. It’s gorgeous and I hope to go back soon!
This app makes creating a movie extremely simple! For my mom’s 60th birthday, I reached out to people she loves most and asked them to text or email me a short video wishing my mom a happy birthday. I added music and pictures and sent the video link to my mom on her birthday last Sunday. It was a huge hit and much easier to make than I anticipated. I highly recommend this app if you are in the market for something that makes video editing relatively simple.
- House Hunting
Since Ryan and I have never looked for a house before, the whole house hunting process is very new to us and I had no idea how addicting it can be! I check Zillow all the time. We’re planning our evening walks in different neighborhoods to get the feel of various areas around Charlotte. We’re talking with our realtor all the time and scheduling appointments to see homes. It’s exciting and incredibly overwhelming all at once.
- Black Cherry Sparkling Water
I bought a bottle of this water at the airport on Monday and thought it was so good! It reminded me of unsweetened Dr. Pepper, and I mean that in a good way!
- Vizsla Pictures on Instagram
Please tell me I’m not the only crazy dog lady out there who searches the hashtags of certain dogs on Instagram and freaks out over all the cute pictures. I love browsing vizsla pictures under the #vizsla or #vizslasofinstagram hashtags because they are all so similar. Ryan and I laugh at Sadie’s ridiculous tendencies all the time, such as her need to be touching us if we’re in the same room, and the vizsla pictures on Instagram make it clear vizslas really do deserve the “velcro dog” nickname. Plus the vizsla puppy pictures absolutely melt my heart.
- Scharffen Burger Milk Chocolate with Toasted Coconut and Macadamia Nuts
This bar was in a goodie bag I received from Hershey and after one bite, I knew it was going to be hard not to eat the entire thing in one sitting. It’s creamy, slightly crunchy from the macadamia nuts, sweet and absolutely delicious.
- Blue Apron Giveaway Winner
Congratulations to Aleysha, the winner of the Blue Apron giveaway! Aleysha was emailed first thing this morning. Thanks to all who entered!

I love the iMovie app. My fiance used it as part of his proposal this year. He had our friends send him clips of them talking about how much they loved us and why we should get married. It was my favorite part of his proposal, (besides the ring!).

My husband and I also live in the Charlotte area and are thinking of buying a house sometime this year. I can relate to how obsessive it is house shopping. It’s like a hobby 🙂 Charlotte is so huge that it’s kind of overwhelming looking in different areas. Good luck on your search!

house hunting is totally addicting! We closed on our house in June and I still check Zillow all the time and obsessively watch House Hunters.

My husband and I love hiking. We’ve only lived in New Orleans and Houston, which means hiking trails (if there are any) are FLAT. We just moved to Houston so hopefully we can find some nearby hiking that we can take day-trips to!

I thought you and Sadie would enjoy this one 🙂 Perhaps Sadie can write a guide to Charlotte soon?

I absolutely love reading your blog! I read it for a little while in college a year or two ago and have recently gotten back in to wanting to get healthy and immediately thought about your blog! 🙂 my fiancé and I are currently looking to buy a house and the thought alone has already gotten me sick with stress! How are you managing to cope?!
